nigel bickle Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Tis a fun little go kart though, primarily cos they weigh nothing. I prefer the 1200 around town, it seems to rev more willingly, and is more than competent on 13 inch rims. I did try mine on the sxi 14 inch rims, but they took the edge off. 1500, driven hard, catches a lot out, but with the number of cameras in Sussex, feels too quick. Mine is the base model Special, which seems to mean ' no extras'. I've the same .1500 in the Mrbella, but I've not done enough miles in it yet to warrant any real comments. Those sills look intriguing Boll? Normally they seem fine, but those add on might have festered rot?
carlo Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Notice how good the visibility is out of the rear? Glass all the way to the back and a low beltline. In fact I think even its successor was pretty good in this respect. Unlike modern crap.
fordperv Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 This content is more like it, i was talking with the mrs last week about these system porsche ibiza's, I'm sure they just disappeared over night I havn't seen one on road for a few years
martc Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 My wedding car was a red Ibiza out of that mould. With "System Porsche" graphics down the side.
Cavcraft Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 That's ace and no mistaking. Did they also make a 1.2 'System Porsche' or have I imagined that?
nigel bickle Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Yup. I have one... How did it go then, Boll?
Mr_Bo11ox Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 I bought it, €100 deposit left, picking it up after Christmas!!!The guy selling it was a MASSIVE winner with shite literally coming out of his ears. The Ibiza was in a barn with an E32 7-series, smart roadster, Mk1 fiesta (with black metal bumpers), early Strada 60, 205GT (early model with twin-carbed suitcase), Renner 5 mk 1 and a couple of others that I've forgotten. J-T, CGSB, Dick Cheeseburger and 22 others 25
Alexg Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Shit, look at that lot!!! Are the other bit's up for grabs too? So the SEAT was a goodun then I assume, what's the plan for it?
crapcarcollector Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 OOO Strada!!! WINNER! LUUUUVE IT. I Like Strada's nearly as much as I like 131 SuperMirifiori's. Any Renault 20's for sale? You could import it and make money, I think there is a guy on here after one, but he's too scared to go fetch.... Coprolalia 1
Mr_Bo11ox Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 THis house was opposite the sellers front door. If you look closely you'll see the arse end of a Mk1 Uno inside the house. He'd filled the flippin house with cars!!!! Inside was a Mk2 fiesta, BX, Volvo 340 saloon, Citroen Visa and about 5 others that I've forgotten, but all 80's worthless bilge. He was only in his late 20's and had bought the place 4 months previously. LIVING THE DREAM! andrew e, anonymous user, HMC and 21 others 24
Mr_Bo11ox Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 Also saw this 305 in a supermarket car park on the way home! mat_the_cat, dollywobbler, dugong and 1 other 4
Parky Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Brilliant stuff. I remember perving over these (and Uno's) at the 1987 Earls Court motor show. Really nicely styled and still look good. Not many left, I saw a few in Spain two years ago but haven't seen one here for ages. Mental indicators if I recall, using switches rather than stalks, quite cool really. Looking forward to the retrieval thread!
dollywobbler Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Just wow. This chap sounds worth knowing.
barrett Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Looking forward to seeing these indicators in action, are they like a Mk1 BX or what?
Mr Lobster Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Awesome. All of it. I've a long term Ibiza / Malaga lust going on so looking forward to seeing this.
garethj Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Housing is really cheap in France, let's be fair if we could do the same in Britain and store lots of chod, we would.
Felly Magic Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 OMG another Autoshite thread full of win! I think Wiki need to actually look at this site proper and see that it is THE BESTEST CAR WEBSITEZ ON THE INTERWEBZ
Mr_Bo11ox Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 heres the Mk1 Ibiza dashboard, you can just see the indicator 'flaps' on the far left? Must say, the car was well original and unmolested. The lad reckoned he'd never had it running, but it cranked over alright and he had established that there was no power getting to the fuel pump. I could not see any signs of the loom being butchered by any ham-fisted scotchlock-wielding immobiliser fitter types so I bet there is a dud relay or something. The injection looks exactly like whats on the Argenta so hopefully i can get a wiring diagram and interrogate it. The body is great, NO ROT on the sills or front wings but one of the wings has this annoying dent: Don't know if I can be arsed doing owt with that or not. The paint is a metallic black colour that will look well snazzy when polished up. I didnt try to hassle the selller with my digi camera too much cos I had arrived at his place 2 hours late and wasted a bit of his time already but hopefully I will get a bit more banter going with him when i go to pick it up. The tyres are kippered so i will have to take some slave wheels to tow it on and I'm sure he'll be interested to see the A-frame in action so i will probably try to have a bit more chit-chat with him then. Its an october 1988 model so if I'm not mistaken will go on an F plate. I'm not sure the SXi model of the phase 1 (Indicator flaps) Ibiza was ever sold in the UK, anyone know for sure? Lacquer Peel, scruff, The Moog and 6 others 9
Felly Magic Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Playing with flaps...Fnarr!!! That does look a little honey Mr Bol
Alexg Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Smashing! Bar the dent, which looks to hit the door too annoyingly. Excuse my ignorance, but how do the indicator flaps work? Is it just pull for left and push for right or something?
outlaw118 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 ^^^IIRC they're moar like buttons upper is left, lower for right. Or something. I CUD B RONG Took a test drive in one of these either mid to late '87 or early '88 with my mate Monkey who was after his first (parent subsidised) first car. Seem to remember it went well, especially in comparison to the Metro "Sport" we'd test driven earlier in the day 'Twas an ex-demo, in gold IIRC, in a pretty good spec. All in cost including the insurance proved too much for Monkey_Senior however, so he ended up with a B plate Astra 1300L. Which he crashed. michael t 1
Mr_Bo11ox Posted November 20, 2015 Author Posted November 20, 2015 The flaps arent owt special really, instead of a stalk theres just a big T-shaped thing sticking out of the column. For a LH indicator you press the upper half of the T and for a RH you press the lower side, or it might be the other way round. I remember Autocar dismissing it as an annoynig shite gimmick though. My old E-reg malaga had it and I though it was no better or worse thasn a stalk. Seat must have been sick of folk going on about it cos in 1990 or 1991 they came up with a new dashboard and put a conventional stalk there instead.
Craig the Princess Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 That looks dead sexy. Thread full of win. Hope ISIS don't spoil the collection caper. Lacquer Peel 1
Spottedlaurel Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Splendid stuff. Is this one coming back to the UK or off to your place in France? It would seem I have only ever photographed a couple of Ibizas, both French: Seat Ibiza by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Seat Ibiza GL 1.2 5dr by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Red one has a different grille to yours and the grey one - is that an age thing or trim-specific?
pompei Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Best thing about those Ibizas is the wheels. I saw one in Corfu last month but the pic is on The Fuhrer's phone. I'll get it off tomorrow.
Volksy Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Bloody marvelous play Mr. B!I'm rather jealous, My fossils had a succession of these and a late(ish) Mk1 (early dash) would be the best of the bunch. When and if the raffle comes up, I'll have ALL the numbers. P.S. Can I have a go?
lincolndanny Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 It's about time you got back on it Bol, I've missed your adventures. What was the last car you spannered on, the Primera?
