Mk1 Mondeo. Save or scrap?

That looks great! no gaffa tape to be seen, and old giffer carpet/ krooklok combo. There used to be a mk1 estate round here but that vanished last year.

Was never a fan of these back when they were current,

but I have to say that they have aged very well.

Well saved :-D

+1 for the carpet.

Shame she didn't put a pair of comfy slippers in there too.

Well bought that man.

For a 1.6 it pulls ok,it's no ball of fire but it'll happily mix it with the rest of the outside lane traffic. As a bonus it came with three quarters of a tank of petrol! I can't believe how small it is compared to my mk4 Mondeo, it's more Focus sized. The baby zetec is a sweet and smooth little lump, barely audible at tickover.

Obviously it has,a few issues that I'll list later but nothing too serious.

That's really nice that

Just after a £3 Kosovan car wash.

Looks very smart, and a very genuine looking car too. Nice purchasing Pal.

You took those pictures 15 years ago AICM£5.

That does look very smart, I still think thye are a good looking car. Love the fact you've caught a Mk2 Golf and Volvo 240 in the photo!

Obviously WARCRAFT is always happy to consider any reasonable offers on this fine vehicle.

maybe the 1.6 was a sweeter lump than 2.0 they certainly didnt get the extra rear silencer that the larger capacities did

1.8 seemed to be the smoothest. 2.0 was always a bit buzzy in the Mk1.

That looks lovely WARANCRAFT. Really nice, if only I had some space...

That's cracking that, Glasgow reg too and reminds me of the unmarked police cars that were used in episodes of Taggart at the time. Those swirly wheeltrims were made of the same material as the bumpers so the survival of both items is good going.

If I get a chance later I'll take a few photos of it next to it's modern equivalent to compare the sizes. My Mk4 Mondeo feels like a Granada after driving the Mk1.

I always thought they were quite a big car too. I suppose the 1.6 will haul that around no problems. So glad it doesnt have the blue interior!

Looks a good'un, that interior is lush. The Mondeos had such a good driving position, with all the controls easily to hand, never been bettered in other cars I've owned despite them having much more luxury (Rover 75, Jaguar). It really was designed for drivers who spent a lot of their working lives behind the wheel.

The Mondeo was such a step forward for Ford, it's a shame it didn't make more money for the company back in the day due to astronomical development costs (£3bn). This was a 250,000 unit a year car in the 90's, the article below said UK sales were 21,000 in 2012 so they probably struggle to make 50,000 a year now.

I loved my Mk4 but it was a BIG car. The Mk5 has more or less the same dimensions as the Jaguar XF, it really is a Scorpio 'replacement' now.

My son had one as his second car. A 1.8 LX(?) that I bought him for £70 with a very short MOT and a fail sheet. We worked through the sheet together (which I very much enjoyed 'cos he loved the Mondeo and hated his Nova and whinged constantly about it when we were working on it together!) and it sailed through it's MOT. He ran it for a couple of years until he went to uni and sold it for a lot more than was paid for it.

Totally reliable so long as he remembered to turn the lights off when he parked it, and went well. Kyle loved that car.

Right then, as I really need to get bikeshite sorted this week the Mondeo needs a new home. Best offer takes it away. It's got 6 months test left and needs a good home.

This place isn't what it used to be...

I wish you were a bit less ooop north. Short haul is my limit due to excruciating fucking back pain at this very moment. How much pounds just out of interest?
