Excellent idea. You could fit truck mirrors and leopard print upholstery too for the full Rebel Vanners look.

I have seen this on here for a few years and only just noticed the later door with earlier glass, i think it looks great but i would love to see it with the original rear lights and metal flake is a wonderful idea !

I do like red metalflake and it would look good.

But it looks nicely aged as it is and is presently a healthy contrast with the typical shiny, stripes and minilites Triumph look.

Needs a brown hardtop, then it’d be the perfect Spitfire.

Given that it’s a hot rod I think metal flake with flames would be good. Especially since @Slowsilvercalculated we used 5 litres of fuel trying to get it to run.  I’m not sure paint is the main priority mind you.

I do enjoy playing with the big mechano now I’m grown up !

Good idea, a period custom twist and it’s halfway there already. From memory has it already got cut down front 1/4 bumpers?

The rear tyres with the brand picked out in white sort of adds to it. I’m going to say stop short of an airbrushed montage of  Harry Webster and michelotti on the bonnet.

Yes 1/4 bumpers on the front.

Are they posing like gangsters, floating in space in that weird 'tattoo of a celebrity' way, or embracing in a Brokebackbonechassis Mountain way?

Good fun for the summer.

That has to be one of the most useless boots of any mass produced car though, seriously...

Guess that's just a function of a smallish convertible and modern safety standards.

That still have the blue and red dash lighting on an 03 plate?  Must have been right about where they switched away from it to the current boring white.

Probably one of the cheaper to repair soft tops he's bought for a while though, since it's just a golf in drag

Oh yes blue.

Have the leather seats been retro fitted? (Pardon the pun)

something throws my eye when there’s no tie in with the seats and door cards, even if it’s probably factory.

With Ferdinand Peich’s family history, gung ho engineering approaches of the time ( just take a look at the parent company product line up and Engines) and his famous zeal I somehow half expected him to have insisted it was rear engined (whilst thumping his desk)

Talking with another shiter today about the Spitfire 6 and its dull paint, he suggested we respray it in metal flake paint! Rather than being out raged I quite like the idea, maybe deep cherry red. The car was customised with Wolfrace wheel and steel bubble arches years ago and metal flake would just add to the effect.

Probably just a dream, but what do you think guys?

My first trip out in the Beetle today to get my Peugeot 306 to my favourite garage.

I met my friends who had the 306 and the one with the TT loved the Beetle and the other hated it. I have never had a car with such Marmite effect.

The Beetle drives very nicely and the only glitch is the car arms the alarm locking with the key or remote. Then it does not disarm whether you use the key or remote and you have to get the key in the ignition with the horn blaring. Anybody got any ideas?

I have had the 306 for a year now and today it went for a pre MOT check over and cambelt as playing roulette is worrying. The underside is remarkably rust free but the exhaust is a bit sad.
