Six-cylinder Posted November 4, 2021 Author Posted November 4, 2021 Cars before work this morning! After several stalled attempts at putting my green Range Rover back on the road it is going to Blackbird Industries today, with the instructions safe legal and working. I hope it does not come back bobtailed and full off road spec! https://www.blackbirdindustries.co.uk/ Zelandeth, LightBulbFun, sutty2006 and 13 others 16

Just by chance Anthony G and Andyrew said they would pop by today, I soon had them press ganged into my latest mad cap scheme to return the green Range Rover to the road. It is now booked with a specialist to make it run and MOT. It looked so sad and neglected so todays target was to make it look like a loved vehicle that deserved to be saved. A little more winterising was also achieved covering a couple more cars and tying the covering on others more firmly. Thanks for the help guys and for getting me motivated to get up to the FoD today after a wet start today. As per usual this FoD event was finished with a fish and chip supper, but it is getting cold at the field so in the house. Whose is the E-reg 7er? I like it very much. What is the brown discharge next to the chips? Opposite feelings apply.

Six-cylinder Posted November 5, 2021 Author Posted November 5, 2021 More cars before work today! I collected the XM today which has been MOTed without any issues. The more interesting was the car I took over for a booked MOT, the Sebring convertible has not been used for a year. It has had a history of a faulty factory immobiliser and if it does not disengage you can manually lock and unlock with the key and it starts fine. Before booking it yesterday I checked it would start ok and there was no problem. Today it took multi attempts and eventually it just worked. I have a replacement ECU, ignition barrel, sensor and key, you should have seen the look on my favourite garages face when I asked them to fit the replacement immobiliser! It felt a bit stiff and bumpy as if had just been woken up when we left home and I am a bit concerned that maybe a shock absorber is not working or bushes getting old it did not ride as smooth as I remember. I replaced the wiper blades thinking of a member of this forum who is obsessed with them and now it is a wait and see what they find game. Zelandeth, Mrs6C, LightBulbFun and 5 others 8
Andyrew Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 I dont think these are a bad looking wagon but the location of the rub strip is bloody awful.
AnthonyG Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 It’s a little better in the metal, but in a photo it does look like that aftermarket stuff you used to be able to buy in rolls.
catsinthewelder Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 I suppose it's a little more likely to prevent damage perched up there than sitting in the crease 6" below but it's not doing the looks any favours.
Six-cylinder Posted November 7, 2021 Author Posted November 7, 2021 We had a friend stay last night and he has two st205 Toyota GT4s, but he arrived in has new Yaris GR last night. As ugly as it is ever since they were announced I have wanted one. Completely reengineered to form a basis for a rally car, but never used. To me it seems a very special car and nothing to do with the current crop of new cars. I know burn the heretic! Coprolalia, dome, DVee8 and 9 others 12

Those Yaris GRs are instant future classic status though. Every review I've read on them has raved positivity. Coming from someone who's owned a Corolla T Sport 190 and a Carlos Sainz ST 185, I'd love to own one. Want. Liggle and LightBulbFun 2
Zelandeth Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 Can't imagine using one as a daily as I imagine the ride in particular is bloody uncomfortable, they sound like epic fun as a weekend toy though. LightBulbFun and Liggle 2

Schaefft Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 A friend of mine recently bought a '99 300m with non-start issue, most likely due to immobilizer/ECU failure. Told him to take the ECU, SKIM module, key and ignition barrel out of his parts donor and replace it all, hopefully it'll all work out but I cannot see why not if the cars are otherwise almost identical. Let me know how things go with that Sebring, I'm not sure if the remote fob receiver would need replacing too or if it's relatively easy to program the donor one to the car. Six-cylinder 1
Six-cylinder Posted November 7, 2021 Author Posted November 7, 2021 Thanks, I have got the receiver ring so I am hopping it will all work. Also I have been watching JRGo on you tube and he seems to be having a hell of a bad time with a 1999 Jeep immobilizer.
Schaefft Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 Yeah, because he just wants to disable the immobilizer instead of spending money on parts. Doesn't quite seem to work out though. Six-cylinder 1

Alarms and immobilizers have always been a pain especially when I was in the motor trade 1980/1990s.

There's a couple of threads in the modern forum about them. @Wack and @Liggle have them, and I'm on the waiting list - 2023 at this rate. I went to look at one up for £38k (list price £34k), and they are a special special thing. Liggle and Six-cylinder 2
Six-cylinder Posted November 8, 2021 Author Posted November 8, 2021 I am just a bit nervous, my favourite garage is fitting the immobiliser stuff to the Sebring this morning. Fingers crossed as this stuff seems to be hit and miss. LightBulbFun 1
