Last drive of the Seicento today before it was put away in storage for the winter.

It was not an expensive car so using it through the winter makes sense, but I think I like it a bit too much and want to protect it!

With the help of @Slowsilverwe started and moved 11 cars out of the barn, then repositioned them for a game of sardines.  Now we have room for 3 more and a small one. Also we checked the antifreeze in several cars, road tested the E Type as it spat some water out last time. I got it nice and hot and not a drop of water was spilt so all seems well. (sorry I forgot my phone this afternoon so no pictures)

I bought a USB charged small vacuum cleaner to whip out to a lightly messy car and clean the interior a bit. I am disappointed it does not do a good job because the filter is so small. I have found it is useful in my office getting in the corners easily and caught this spider out! (I did let it go unharmed)

I miss my v70 t5 auto so much that if you decide to part with it, I’ll sell a kidney and buy it. The one we had FTPd in the middle of Paris blowing its radiator over the inner ring road. But what a machine. 🥰

Today I did a long and detailed test of a VW Caddy.

Ok, I was lucky enough to get to have a drive of @ZelandethCaddy today. Here are a few observation.

A lot quicker than our Citroen C15 van.

Rear wiper is strange being only one one side of the rear doors.

Gear knob moves about.

It works well and is very practical for when I took the pigs to market this morning!

Now giving me a new view from my office window.

Plate tectonics are quicker than your C15 van!

That plate would work a treat with a portable loo company truck 'Poo 2 Size'.

I said goodbye to my Toledo 2door project today and it is staying within the Forum. I will allow the new owner to introduce themselves when they are ready.

Some will know this is not the end of Toledo ownership for me as I have bought a running 4 door from HMC. The desire to own one was because I learnt to drive on one belonging to a driving school, yes I am old enough for them to have been current cars when I was 17.

Yesterday we collected a smallish pine dresser for our house  for free from Freecycle, as we loaded it into the Mercedes 230TE estate we were asked if we were antique dealers!

In the afternoon we went to visit a lady who has three Bond Equipes, unfortunately very rusty and vandalised after standing 30 years. 100 miles round trip what a lovely car that W123 is.

Remember the Saab 95!

Today I planned to spend some time working on the Saab 95 to try and diagnose why it rattled when we first started it.

I was talking to my friend Andrew from the TSSC (Triumph Sports Six Club) last night and he said he would come over and work with me.

We started by taking the valves out of the heads but could see nothing to rattle.

We took off the front timing cover and could not see anything to cause rattling.

We took the clutch off, part worn but useable and again we couldn’t see any reason for rattling.

We then took out the pistons and there are several stuck piston rings. All the big end bearings look good and the small ends felt good so no reason to rattle.

In order to get the cam out to inspect it we had to withdraw the cam followers and this is when we found the rattle. 6 of the 8 were difficult to remove and in the process of trying to work them free we reproduced the noise Mrs6C had videoed on the day of the start-up. Yes by hand we got the tap, tap noise and I think it was the follower did not gets pushed down by the value springs because several were so stuck and then the cam came round and gave them another little tap.

So all I have to do is clean everything and pop it back together. We won’t know for sure until that is done!

Did you get any more pics of the Equipes? Would be good to add those to my register, as I'm certain they won't be on there if they've been sitting for 30 years! I'm sure there are more of them in this sort of condition than on the road these days, sadly

Yes, dealers need to sell occasionally.
