Whacking another tube in might give you a bit of respite but no guarantee any frayed plies are not going to damage it Doing some googlage u-pull-it have a tractors section https://www.u-pull-it.co.uk/agricultural-commercial also http://www.tractorbreakers.com/content/large-selection-wheels-and-tyres Might be worth contacting one of those see how much to have a tyre delivered. wuvvum Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Is there not a dead machine lying around which could donate a tyre or a pair of wheels?

DSdriver Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 4 hours ago, Six-cylinder said: A long shot, but we need a 9.00 - 16 10 ply tyre. Our JCB has burst a hole in the side wall of a front tyre. New Tyres are hundreds of pounds and all we do is move a around our field and maybe the odd lap by a shiter. It is going to have to be second-hand one. What about second hand aircraft tyres - they have to be replaced regularly for safety reasons. I have no idea about a size match but it is the route boatyards go on their straddle carriers.
DSdriver Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Or cut a bigger hole in the tyre and fill it with concrete or summat Christine 1

Out Run Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Autoshite’s favourite* son may be able to assist.
AnthonyG Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Like Saabnut’s mentioned, the most likely source for a s/h tyre would be a collective machinery sale (most rural auctioneers will have at least one a month - in normal times that is) or somewhere that breaks old plant/agricultural machinery. Given the current restrictions the latter is probably your best bet. Do you know anyone into vintage tractors etc? They might know of likely sources - or of a local farm with dead stuff lying around.

We do belong to the local vintage tractor club and one of their members helps look after our yellow plant (he was the one who got the small dumper going again) so he would be a good starting point... It may be able to repaired with a patch on the inside, though an inner tube would be a good option also. Those tyres often used an inner tube. Ours might even have one in place that has failed... beko1987 Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 I guess part of the issue is by the time you've paid someone with the right kit to come to the fod and pop a wheel and tyre off to inspect your only another half hours labour to just fit new ones there and then... Would it be cheaper to buy a whole other jcb and pinch it's wheels and scrap the rest? Or does it not scale up like that...
Six-cylinder Posted November 11, 2020 Author Posted November 11, 2020 There is a second-hand tyre and tube in Bishop Auckland that looks like it would do the job and if it was local and would go to see it and buy if it looked ok. Anybody able to check this out for me in Bishop Auckland and store until we can arrange a shitely move? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/900-x-16-Tyre-JCB-Tractor-3-rib-Tyre-9-00-x-16-and-tube/133541914688?hash=item1f17b7e840:g:NJ4AAOSwz0xfgINu
