Six-cylinder Posted December 27, 2020 Author Posted December 27, 2020 So what happened in 2020 We all know what a strange year it has been. Car shows have set my time table for many years, but most shows were cancelled this year. It started normally enough in Jan 2020 with my Visa GT going off for rust repairs to the body. Unfortunately the project has rather stalled blamed on Covid, but I have been promised it back done in April 2021 (welding only). In Feb 2020 the Citroen AX14 TRS returned to the road. There was still further work to do and again Covid slowed down the progress on this 1st of Feb was an Autoshite greasy spoon Breakfast and Cannock Auction, what could be better for the start of the car season. Then it all went very quiet June 2020 I did rescue my BMW 323i that had been lent out but abandoned outside an industrial unit. Then the best bit of 2020 happened we found we could have up to 30 outside visitors to the Field of Dreams. July, Aug and Sep we had FoD open weekends with car fixing, tea drinking, camping and fish and chip suppers. It was a game changer for me, they made up for the lack of car shows. In Aug 2020 we got the Lancia Trevi back on the road. Still more to do but now driving and clean inside. In Aug we had the return of the Peugeot 504 Cabriolet from the trimshop. Still a couple of issues to deal with, wheel nuts coming undone also it cuts out and will not restart when hot. Sep 2020 one year after our S1 Jaguar XJ6 lost the use of top gear we sent it to a gearbox specialist, taking a deep breath for a big bill. They charged us one hours labour for diagnosing and refitting the vacuum pipe that had fallen off! We have done far less servicing and MOTs this year as we have not been very far and several cars have not been taken out of storage. I have also done a lot more posting thanks to lockdown and with you guys have filled 95 pages in my thread. Now the big THANKS to everybody who has helped us keep our collection running, be it cars or stuff like mowers, along with free stuff we have been given. I have not listed names because I would hate to miss anybody off. Even coming over and drinking our tea helps us maintain enthusiasm. cort1977, LightBulbFun, Vantman and 23 others 26

As a newcomer to AS I have never visited or drank tea with you in person but I gather you have a large field of dreams (I think?) However I think I would jump at the chance to drink tea with you. That's not a qualification from me, I quite like tea and other people; I'd drink tea with all sorts. I have a very busy family life and work otherwise but I really hope that I get to come and dream in a field and drink tea with you and everyone here. Also, I'd like to get the Shitesteddfod here in North Wales off the ground too. Pandemics eh? Best of luck to you and us all in the future eh? Six-cylinder and 2cvspecial 2

Dolly the Model 70 was cleaned up; much debris was blown out of the ventilation system; the carburettor was cleaned (three times!); the engine electrics were cleaned and/or renewed and she was set up to idle properly. This made it possible to get her moving around under her own power for the first time in about 20 years. 2. The Visa cabriolet of much AS sponsorship and welding was rescued and fixed again and even delivered to my door (along with a set of Mini wheels for Dolly!). It now lives with us and is enjoying being under cover and dry inside for the first time in years. 3. The JCB's perforated front tyre and innertube were replaced with a good tyre and innertube that were procured, transported to the FoD and fitted, all with very little drama and much skill. As of just now, they were still holding air! 4. The lower bodywork on my multi-coloured, multi-textured VP1500 is being conjured back together out of thin air and new steel. 5. Various things agricultural and horticultural have been made to function again in innovative ways, pending acquisition of new parts to return them to their more usual'factory' configurations... You know who you are with regard to the above. My thanks to you all. catsinthewelder, Andyrew, chaseracer and 7 others 10
LightBulbFun Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 as others have said Thank you both, for hosting the FoD gatherings, they have been a bright spot in an otherwise dim year and a Personal thanks for continuing to provide somewhere for me to keep my Model 70 while I and other shitters who's help im very thankful for, throw bits and bobs at her to try and get her road worthy! (and also providing somewhere to stash the whats-left-of-an-AC-Model-64-come-Trailer, my one Autoshite silly purchase that I constantly feel bad about for taking up valuable FoD space, that im hoping it will redeem itself by yielding parts or being there for when a fellow shitter needs trailer ASAP) egg and Mrs6C 2

Six-cylinder Posted December 31, 2020 Author Posted December 31, 2020 What shall we do 2021 at the FoD? I have enjoyed our FoD open weekends one hell of a lot and as soon as the weather and covid laws allow will be more than happy to start having opendays/weekends again. In summer 2021 we hope to have an undercover space. In the meantime we are outside, but we do have a car sized party shelter we can erect. To start with we have the camping paddock then when the hay is cut the main field. Things I would like to fix in 2021 Haytor Condor Invacar Tiddly Truck Triumph Spitfire MK3 2.5 Triumph Toledo LNA steering coupling Paint JCB Alfa Giulietta get running Add a black wrap to the Sovereign S2 roof Tidy C15 with bush paint bits to protect it Citroen CX Add any of our stuff to this list that you want too Do you have a soft spot for a particular car/machine of ours? Instead of me directing doing jobs in a haphazard way how about project managing it for us so we get it completed. If you have a project car of your own and do not have space to work on it at home we would be happy for you to bring it us for a few weeks so you can work on it. What are you thinking? Zelandeth Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 I want a second round with the Trevi to see if I can actually get the damned thing to run right now we know the ignition had issues that had a part to play. Aside from anything else I'd really like to see how it drives when running properly as even in its poorly state I was well impressed. We definitely need to get all the Invacars in formation at some point...and out in convoy once they're all roadworthy. Just to see how much it breaks people's brains. LightBulbFun and Six-cylinder 2

(but sadly, there is not a large gaggle of Routemasters on here like there are Invacars) as a side note, its worth noting one of the RMA's in said video still has its trailer, are any of those trailers preserved? I dont think iv seen an RMA in preservation with its trailer still sadly
