And now Mrs6C has broken the front passenger one so I need one of those as well.

barrett Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 Jaymic over in Norfolk are the only people in the country I know of who can set up the Kugelfischer correctly. I ended up going to France to get mine sorted (actually nearer than Norfolk) and once it's sorted it should run spot-on with a minimum of upkeep. It's an irritatingly complex system, but once set-up properly it should theoretically be much more reliable than a carb egg 1

Lankytim Posted November 24, 2020 Posted November 24, 2020 I know someone who was breaking an XM over in Telford, i'll ask him, but he might've weighed it in by now. Mrs6C 1

It's an irritatingly complex system, but once set-up properly it should theoretically be much more reliable than a carb There is a plan "A". Our local Auto sparks Mike ended up working for a Porsche specialist and Porsche along with BMW also use Kugelfischer injection and he has some experience. In fact enough as it was Mike (now semi retired) who got the 504 running for me to start with. I will ask him to have another look, but at the moment there is so much stuff in the garage he couldn't get to it. The problem with it cutting out and not restarting when very hot has been with this car for many years as. I got the car from a friend who always reported a problem. If Mike is unable to solve the problem then I guess Plan B is Jaymic.
Zelandeth Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 (Probably) Silly question: Are you absolutely sure it's a fuelling issue? Ignition system breaking down when hot could also be a factor. Just guessing that's probably less of a pain to check/diagnose. Mrs6C 1

That's a common thing with nose-heavy FWD cars which encourage a "sensible" driving style. The rear tyres perish before they run out of tread.

Unpleasant memories here of not finding much metal above. I have never checked myself but June this year it was MOTed at a Merc specialist who did some welding in the drivers footwell. It has also been to my favourite garage for brakes all round Sep this year and if they had spotted something I am sure they would have reported it.

Bear Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 From what I remember the subframe mounts were great on this one, the driver's footwell was beginning to get interesting, but the cladding was doing its job elsewhere (good and bad). And it was such a wonderful, calming beast to drive.
