Rob's Rover 75 - now carlo's

Bit of a stupid question amnesty here. I had a R75 V6 Connie. (Manufactured in the last week on production). When I sold it the potential buyer brought round a R75 mechanic who whispered in the buyer's ear "Definitely buy this one, it's a manual". And he did indeed buy it on the spot. That stuck in my mind. But since that day I've never heard anyone else say a bad thing bad about the auto boxes.  Was the expert talking rubbish?

PS, they are great. Fast, comfortable and with the most amazing interior. Would love another. Have a bump...GLWTS and all that.

Pah! Who wants a manual? When that bastard slave cylinder goes (and they do) its a clutch out job.

These Auto boxes are good, smooth and something you don't hear of going often (if at all)

I'm a fan of autos anyway, but the 'box in these suit the car perfectly. It has a sports mode which i used once and found unnecessary TBH, as there's enough grunt in normal mode, plus it just sounded strained and unbecoming in a big Rover holding the ratios for longer.

Do you know, I've got an absolutely cracking little Corsa here that I'd be willing to swap for that.

These do indeed suit auto boxes. If you want a manual buy the MG ZT.

Plus isnt there some sort of issue with the clutch slave cylinders anyway? Maybe he was expessing his personal choice? All I know is the auto in Robs makes if very wafty, which for me at least is what these are all about.

Id be tempted myself, but at the mo Im fully car and vanned up.

I would if I could but I can't so I won't. (Yay, another helpful post from another Autoshite person!)

Having just purchased one auto car and promising to purchase a Daf I am unaware of any spare money, space or testicles that I might possess.

Would if I could......

Mmm, that idea does actually appeal but I should be cutting down the numbers really. Dare I mention the R word, or is everyone a bit raffled out at the mo?

If you raffle it I'll have to buy tickets and then CMS will win it.

Little known fact: I don't actually like 75s. Drove 430 miles yesterday in the boss's 196k-mile 2.0CDTi manual and in all it felt incredibly claustrophobic, heavy and not all that comfortable.

I'd sooner the Corsa tbh, though if a raffle goes ahead and I end up winning* (thanks Angyl) I'd be donating it to the gaffer as he already has six 75s and that's clearly not enough.

Yes, raffle it. 49 tix @£6 each. Who could say no?

Think I'll cancel my National Lottery subscription and divert the money into an Autoshite raffle paypal fund instead. If I won the real lottery I'd only go and buy crap cars with the money anyway, so might as well cut out the middle man.

Yeah count me in....ideally before the National lottery throw another few balls in the mixer *Just to make winning the Lotto even more impossible

I feel the same way to a certain extent.  It's proved to me I'm not a fan of interiors that cosset too much, plus no matter how I set the seat back up I end up in a slouch.  But that's modern cars for you I suppose.  Otherwise it's lovely!

I'll give it a week or so to see if anyone wants it by normal means and then sort out a raffle situation.

Raffle this?  Oh boy yes, count me in!  4 and 16 please.  In fact if the tickets are cheap enough, 37 too.  This looks lovely, and even at the price advertised, brilliant value.

Will someone please fecking buy this bargain of a car before I lose whatever reason I have left, sell my soul and buy this instead of a Daf.

You do realise Ken that the longer this sits there at 300 notes it confirms that both our cars are also worth approximately a hand full of change?

Handful of change maybe but a nice handful of change irrespective :)

Shock and horror, I have never ever even sat in 75 ...

I'll take 10 and 44

I've seen this up close and personal and it's not half bad.  The gouge in the rear door is bizzare, I don't know how it's even possible to do damage like that but it's a smart thing and the colour's quite unusual.  There's some nice giffer touches and the stacked numberplates where the last selling dealer just stuck theirs on top of the old ones are amusing.

There's been a lot of raffles lately but I think one more wouldn't hurt.  Therefore, number 2 please.

I'm in on a raffle, even though it means another flight to laaandan if I win 😂
