Bad luck that it sold within an hour of me posting. It was available when I posted it.

Looked like a really good deal. The 1.6 engine must be pretty rare in the Punto.

Posted

Fuck. A 1.6 in a Punto, and it has PURPLE SEATS.

I totally would.

Is that in your brochure?

No, but some weird shit is.

You could get a full leather interior and wood-rimmed steering wheel in your mk1 Punto as optional extras, or even a 6-speed gearbox! Even funnier is that the 6-speed gearbox was only available on the 55hp 1.1!

It does 0-60 in 16 seconds rather than 16.5, but has the same top speed and is better on fuel in town, but worse on fuel out of town!

Bloody hell Parky, those are some of the funniest summaries I have read on this thread for some time.

Well said, very funny.

Sorry if I'm taking this slightly off topic but my brother own's a Mk1 Punto 6 speed.

There Badged as a EL in the UK and were only available for the first few years here before being discontinued. The EL model also means you get a similar spec to a 55sx but with added colour coded bumpers but minus the electric windows. They were built for mainly the Italian and other European countries where engine CC size was limited for young drivers and they fitted the 6 speed to add sporting appeal. The 6 speed gearbox does make a difference though over the standard 5 speed and it certain makes you want to drive more Italian!

The early Punto Sportings were also fitted with the 90 bhp 1.6. They are harder to find now than the GT. The later Sportings from about 97 had the 1.2 16V Fire engine fitted instead with 85bhp.

Yes, I've mentioned before my bro had the later 1.2 version in his early 20's...though his wasn't a sporting as such, just an SX I think.

That look's nice egg you can see the SX badge on the boot and those Alloys look like OZ wheels really suited it. Funny enough my brothers Punto is the same Blue. The 1.2 16V was available on the revised Mk1 Punto SX,ELX and Sporting. Think my brother owned almost every Mk1 Punto model bar a 60S, Convertible and Punto Van.

Hence me knowing the spec of these so well!

Fair comments. I bet someone here could save it though.

There's probably one or two on here that could eat fire and drink piss.

Doesn't make it a good or noble idea, mind.

No MOT and bent suspension!

Whereas half the cars on Retrorides have a bent MOT and no suspension.

I think I have just worked out what Sheefag does if the initial Argos catalogue doesn’t have the desired effect

I'd love that as a little work beater! Bet their poor on fuel being pummeled on B, A and M roads twice a day

That’s one of those cars that seems to be disappearing fast, I can see them fetching good money in another 10 years.

There is a similar Fiesta on the same driveway I park on belonging to an old lady who lets me park there due to the poor parking situation here. I think seeing as I have a powerful vehicle and some good jump leads and a can of fuel can be got, I'll see if it starts and runs.

Hello Dave speaking, how can I Help?

Yeah hi, I was put on the lash last night and when I went for a piss this morning I found myself drawn to the attractive colour in the bowl and thought a car in a similar hue would be good. Do you have anything along those lines?

Heh heh heh, I think you are in luck my friend....

Jim is offering a Polo which looks reasonably alright. Yes some minor issues such as the knackered resistor for the heater, an unbalanced fan and missing mirror glass but come on, what do you want? I showed it to Scotty from Star Trek and he mumbled something about it being “spectacular value Jim”

Paul had a good long think about where to park his Fiesta in order to best display its salient features. Many of us would have chosen a nice park or a stately home but Paul felt the traditional two post lift would really show the car in its natural habitat.

That said it’s an old Ford, it has classic in the name, it’s got an MOT and it’s £175. Buying it would make you into your streets equivalent of Onslow and who doesn’t aspire to that?
