Santa Baby.....

I'm sure we've had threads like this before, but how long ago?  Either we've achieved our dreams or abandoned them in favour of something new and shiny or, this being Autoshite, 40 years old and rusty!

So, assuming he could get close enough to deliver, what would you most like Santa to bring you this year, that maybe wasn't on last year's list, or any previous?

I'll open with these (to which I may yet add)

1: Less pain for MrsR.  "No pain" would be ideal, but I can't see that ever happening, so we'd settle for "significantly less."

2: Same for Memphis.

3: and now we come to some selfish stuff, just for me.  An industrial unit with accessible floor area roughly equivalent to 6-8 single garages at roughly the monthly rent I'm paying now for my lockup, but closer to home.  Within 10 minutes' walk, say.  It'll need to be secure and watertight, obviously, with power and water supplied.

4: Something to put in it.  A 1956 Chevy Bel Air Sport Sedan like this:

My favourite style.  Crate 350/TH400, disc conversion, power everything.  Yeah, that'll do nicely.  Mint enough to take to shows.

5: a new van at work.  Doesn't have to be brand new, I'll be perfectly happy with a 2009 Ducato, say.  Red please.

Your turn!

Posted

1. A suitable house to move into with my beau.

2. A Renault 6 (doyouseewhatIdidthere?)

3. A trust fund to be spent only on hopeless old cars.

4. Some new pointy shoes, ideally with zebra print on them somewhere.

5. A new or almost new digital camera

One of these please Santa.

1. A newly tailored 1950s drape jacket

2. A well restored vintage DJ console with some tasty iconic British PA

3. A bigger shed

4. Some of my mortgage paid off

5. A loft ladder

I could have bought some/most/all of the above in the time that has elapsed since my last letter  to Santa.

Unfortunately I  chose to spend it instead on shite old cars which run only marginally better (in one case, worse) than they did last Xmas.

I will settle for some more die-cast shite if all else fails....

My new winter wanderer, so that the Safari needn't get covered in salt and mud.

Again. Also, a sack of money to pay my tax bill, and a heap of common sense so I don't fail to put enough aside in my tax pot next year...

Hmm, less diabetes for Mrs PBK. A good teaching job and a nice non-psychopath girlie for PBK son. The ability to see things again that are near to my face without having to hold the bastard objects at 3x arm length.

A nice compact semi-automatic rifle, ammo and full permission to use it in North London, mostly near to where I live.

A heated and powered double garage. With a 4 post lift. Complete with working mig welder and things. This would of course be actually built onto the house, obviously.

A Mini. A nice Mini. A proper small'ish Mini that wasn't buil;t by BMW. Or a VW Beetle, original spec, no fuckwittery modifications. A pineapple to bolt to the roof so that I could be identified by other Autoshiters at a distance, but not in a 'scene twat' sort of way.

Out of all the above, I believe the semi-automatic weapon may be the most realistic option*.

Cheers Santa.

Umm, did you hear about the dyslexic devil worshipper who spent most of his adult life trying to invoke Santa. Sorry. No, I really am. Really*

Right....

Where do I start?

1. Move out of this hateful area where I currently 'exist'

2. I'd like to buy this. Its a D-reg Rover Sterling. The holy grail for me.

3. Get my KV6 in rude health and all of my cars sorting in working, driveable order.

4. Find somwhere of my own to store them, like a barn or warehouse instead of renting space.

But most of all, I want the conflict in Syria to stop so I can go see my family and Mrs_Sterling_in_waiting.

Will leave a few mince pies, a MIG welder, some tin snips, sheet steel, some sherry, carrots, lichen and the garage door open on Christmas eve. If Santa is up for it, I would be very happy if he popped his rosy arse in and repaired the sills on my 1984 944.......

Rudolph could 'firewatch' Santas beard in case of errant sparks. The Elves could keep themselves occupied meanwhile repairing my fence which blew down in a recent gale.

Hey Santa, I'm not fussy so if you can sort any of these out for me that'd be great. I'll even leave out the good mince pies out for you if you can sort one.

Cheers, Mr Lobster
