Think how much more they could ask for it if the rear bumper wasn't cracked.

There's a reason why there's not many of those Festers left.

My brother's OH had one years ago,I quite liked it, but it lost a wheel on the move and was weighed in.

We had an identical one in Doom Blue and it was utterly shit in the most spactacular way breaking down at the drop of a hat.

Just the small matter of MOTing it if you actually want to get your hands on the valuable* cherished* plate...

All these cars were better presented in the auction catalogue. What a bone idle numpy.

Having driven 150 miles home in true 70s style I decided to change the oil - just to make sure. What came out can only be described as sludge. Following that revelation I had a go at the coolant. NO COOLANT! Only severe rusty water. Having refilled both and been on a drive to thoroughly warm it up I left it overnight. Next morning, top hose, flat as a pancake and enormous hiss when the radiator cap was removed - blown head gasket.

Worse was to come. Removing some of the stuck down carpet in the boot revealed some severe rust with holes where you could see the ground! A badly welded panel completed the disaster.

I offered £10,000 to buy it in its current state but this was refused, so be on the lookout for it reappearing elsewhere!

Hmmm - can't help thinking that offering 10k once he knew the faults was just as mad as paying 18k before he knew.

I paid £150 for mine. Okay, so it wasn't shiny orange but I certainly managed more than 150 miles in it.

As Bolls says - poor show by that 4* Classics shower - surely they must vet the vehicles that pass though their gleaming white portals? Obviously not.

That's odd. The number plate is now valued at £1650.

I hate the whole "plate is worth £££££" nonsense

People don't seem to realise the plate MIGHT be worth £££££ to someone with £££££ who happens to want that plate. It's not as if a week on the bay will guarantee it, is it?

My car has the prefix XOU which for all I know means "massive penis" in Cantonese. All I will need to do is find the Chinese John Holmes and I am rolling in Renminbi. In fact I might try that when I come to sell it,

I'm just going through 'liking' pretty much every post here, though really I want to go and 'hate' all those listings with the mind-numbing mark-ups.

Anyway - here's another one that grinds my gears....

£2495!!!!

Usual dealer arse-wash about 'original purchase invoice' and 'going up in value'. It's a 1.1 with 78k miles on it.

Compare and contrast...

Timsbury Garage, Hampshire - hang your heads in shame. Check out what Fiona's offering over in Benfleet. For an earlier car (rarer see?) which is a 1.4 (suitcase even?), in a nicer (the nicest?) 205 colour and with just 41k on it...

£550 - that's more like it! Nearly a years test too.

I actually need a car right now - but Benfleet is pretty much the antipodes to my gaff. I do like this though.

They have another one, same model, 71k, at the same price...

I guess they couldn't have the higher mileage one slightly cheaper because that might make this one look a little over-priced.

My numberplate L894 LWC is worth nothing, however if you want to buy it, it is £50,000!!! This is a bloody unique numberplate and I shall not sell it for anything less. I have spoken with many experts, many of which own J-reg Protons. They all agree, that as I am the son of a banker, it is a bargain and can surely only go up in value. Fuck gold prices, invest in unique number plates.

^ to be fair, it looks unusual in that the wings and wheelarches still exist*, however it's still too much.

* this may be due to wob and tippex, or photoshop.

Also to be fair, if you photographed that in a white room it would just look like you're selling a front bumper and a pair of wheels.

Don't get me wrong this is fantastic but come on, really?

I don't know buses but that Bedford is gorgeous, inside and out.  I was thinking £13,995 doesn't seem bad at all, then I realised there was another 9 in there  .  That's probably quite ambitious.

£23,000, yes twenty three thousand pounds, 2 bids reserve not met.post-17414-0-41981900-1436712487_thumb.jpg

Yes, it's a pretty car,but it's still a Corsair not a Cortina ,and the reason 2 Dr GT Cortinas are so valuable is to use for competition since Lotuses went stratospheric.

Somehow I don't think starting with a bigger, heavier car with identical mechanics is a good recipe for a competitive racing car.
