Top Gear used to do a thing in their celebrity interviews where they asked the celebrity:

“You have a weekend to drive to the South of France. What car are you driving, what’s on the stereo and who’s in the passenger seat?â€Â

I’ll start off by saying Duffy in a Ford Scorpio (Frog face) with Chaz and Dave on the stereo. :D

Just done that journey but not that much of a dream. In a rusty old discovery complete with trailer. No cd player so dodgy french radio but my girlfriend came with me even though she is rubbish at getting pictures of shite on the way. Still it is a lovely drive on the A roads and the route napoleon is well worth a drive just not much fun with a trailer

If we're assuming one's wife/partner/etc is not allowed to be the passenger......

Sheridan Smith

a Volvo 740 GLE automatic

Elvis Presley

That'll do for me! :D

Posted

A Citroën CX 25 GTi Turbo, with Jean-Michel Jarre on the stereo, and my dear friend Edward in the passenger seat :)

Posted

Vauxhall Senator 3.0i 24v auto, another vote for Sheridan Smith and Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Surely the shiter's answer would be a beige Maestro base, the shiter's nan and the clappy song from Radio 4 though?

Had to Google Sheridan Smith, as I'd never heard of her - I initially though that she was a bloke!

How about: an FSO Polenez with Tony Pond and Black Lace on the stereo

You had to google Sheridan Smith?

I've never seen the series, as I don't have a TV

That would explain it, yes....

In which case, have another (any excuse!)

Chaz and Dave on the stereo. :D

I once bought a Chaz n' Dave tape for the sole purpose of pissing off my Dinner Plates when we drove down to Canterbury tales but they fucking loved it. We had a right good singalong in the Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

Personally my dream drive would be in an Aston Martin V8 with a young Britt Ekland, Sloane Peterson and Salma Hayek with some Miami Nights 1984 on the stereo.

Posted

My dream trip would be in an Opel Rekord 2.1D on my own and listening Univers Zero on the stereo.

Posted

1961 Imperial with a big rectangular hole puking wires where the radio once was and my three best buddies on some of the remaining seats.

Stereo: Whatever I can tune into on the wireless. Getting old Atlantic 252 back would be pretty sweet, so let's imagine we've got that.

Passenger: After much consideration, I think it would probably be Joanna Lumley. I cannot think of anyone I'm unlikely to ever be travelling to the south of France with that I'd rather spend the journey in the company of. Besides, you're never going to get in any real sort of trouble with the gendarmes if you've got Joanna Lumley in the passenger seat, even if you are causing trouble.

*okay, so maybe a Bristol 403 or an Austin A90 Atlantic drophead, but I somehow don't think it would be as special.

The car I think would have to be a Citroen DS, for company Helen Mirren and for entertainment I think I'd have either something by Stomu Yamashta or Cozy Powell's Greatest Hits.

Easy one: a Gordon-Keeble with Pollyanna Woodward in the passenger seat and the Eagles on the stereo would do me nicely :D

Futa Pass. AC Aceca Bristol. The soundtrack is there....... who needs music? As for the seat cover, my Mrs would do just fine. Providing she didn't have kittens about the way I drive.

Not me or my motor, just a YouTube find.

Probably leave the music off because we'll be driving down the N roads rather than the autoroute and enjoying the scenery and I reckon that Emma will be so excited she'll be wringing her pants out and begging me to pull into a quiet layby.

I would still one day like to go to the states, buy some american 80s/90s shitheap and see how far I could get driving coast to coast.

Also, Two Pints is fucking shit but that bird is nice in a sort of dirty way.
