auntiemaryscanary Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Yesterday: one out... Car Take Back directed me here. I was expecting a medium sized end of life dismantlers, ya know pile of engines, skip of alloy's. Wrong, I'd never seen anything like it. It's a massive, full on industrial scrap metal processor with lorries whizzing in an out and a 100ft high pile of shredded steel. I park the Sirion as close to reception as possible in front of a line top spec Range Rovers. Helpful, efficient & paperwork done in minutes with a passing remark I've blocked the Directors in. Take a few quick snaps avoiding getting squished by lorries. A chap asks "Is that your car?". "It was but you've just bought it". "Keys in the office?". "Yes". I'm out of here. The ever loving wife has driven over to collect me, took a quick look at the place and sensibly parked outside on the public road. Says she "You do bring me to some romantic places!" Just now: Train tickets and changes checked. Day insurance packed. Confirmed with v helpful seller for the umpteenth time all is good. Food and drink prepped for train there and drive back. Getting excited now! To be continued: Saturday 6.15am. Split_Pin, garethj, Dyslexic Viking and 18 others 21

grogee Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 That is some top level collection prep. I particularly like that you've not paid £700 for two rashers of bacon thrown into a dry bap. Safe collectioneering. May your wheel bearings stay greased and may your exhaust be securely retained. I think it's a 1984 Daihatsu Fourtrak. EspenO, auntiemaryscanary, mk2_craig and 3 others 6

auntiemaryscanary Posted June 8, 2024 Author Posted June 8, 2024 As far east as I go thankfully Mrs auntiemaryscanary hails not that from from here. She's from the beautiful* flatlands of South Lincs. (Hello darling, enjoying your hubby's trip?!) South all the way now. No idea what this modern thing is but the seats are rubbish . It's considerably faster than the EMR cross country thing I've gotten off so I'll put up with it for a couple of hours. Tickman, Cavcraft, Shite Ron and 1 other 4
fairkens Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Looks like a Thames link to me, can't imagine its very comfortable for a long stretch auntiemaryscanary 1

Dread to think what it's like 7am on a Weds. Otherwise it's a drama free trip so far which is good but a little dull. Good things come to those that wait apparently. Tickman and Cavcraft 2

auntiemaryscanary Posted June 8, 2024 Author Posted June 8, 2024 Hmmn, I know which I prefer Soon as I got on the Tonbridge dual carriageway bypass I knew I was going to love it. For something 26 years old it drives amazingly well. @MrGTI6 said there is a slight steering wobble from 65mph but he must have younger and finer senses than me! Where conditions allow it happily sits at a satnav 70. The queue for the Dartford tunnel didn't bother it. Lovely little thing in a great colour. Thanks for the kind offer @grizz, hopefully another time. You going shitefest? Anyway, having my pack up and cracking open the 2nd flask the going for a straight run home. CaptainBoom Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Phwoar! Love the colour of that. I thought I recognised the station and High Street. Not far from my manor! Well done on the new acquisition! Unburstable little things those Novas Corsas auntiemaryscanary and MrGTI6 2
