Yep, it was fixable. Took the pre-heat bypass thingy out and jammed it back in with a new O ring, tightened up the water sensor plug, cleaned up the mating faces and big O ring at the bottom and so far it seems to be working with no leaks.

 

Fuel solenoid is still a bit sticky though, even after replacement.

 

So, no longer needed but thanks for looking.

Sorry guys, scrub that. He *thinks* he probably does have maxi and cortina kits but without the used one in front of him to cross match he doesn't know what he's got. if he does manage to find it in the book I'll let you know but I wouldn't hold my breath!

Don't know. but it's all n/o/s stuff from the '70s so its gonna be pukka asbestos ones NOT remanufactured. I'll have a look when I go up his place tomorrow or thursday and see if I can make head or tail of the reference book that he has. He managed to dig out one for my P6 2000 last year which was a sachs I think, he has a massive workshop with an alladins cave of treasures but is very disorganised. I tripped over a pair of new looking cibie oscars last time I was there.
