This is why I never use Fraggle tape, I think the delivery people make a game of trying to destroy stuff. Thankfully the contents were well packed and unharmed

I really like the LJN Rough Rider/Stunt Rider. I had one that worked in water (floated and drove itself) when I was at primary school.

OMG not raining shock.

Actual individual puddles visible this morning, rather than Belfast and district basically being just one giant puddle.

Inside the market, it was still cold but at least the concrete floor wasn't all slippery like it's been since mid-January.

Tat-wise, there wasn't a lot to get excited about today - no sign of the General Tat stall, still.

Either he's having an extended break in Gran Canaria, or he's sacked off the whole thing.

A few stallholders were grumbling about the daily price of their pitch going up by another fiver, plus a £30 overnight storage charge being applied - so for stalls that set up on Thursday afternoon and operate on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, that's over £100 extra to find each week.

Yow.

Colin had a few new bits and pieces in this week - more Matchbox Collectors, at £5 a go.

IMG_20260213_082540.jpg.44e138154d949bd8c515c713d70407ca.jpg

Also some more Greenlight stuff, at £8 each:

IMG_20260213_082636.jpg.9579da5e13f86b58c0809012a2822e7d.jpg

Seemingly now owned by Sun Star, and made in China rather than Portugal. Pricey enough at £46, too.

'70s Muscle Cars partwork Charger Daytona looked better value at £11:

IMG_20260213_0827282.jpg.fb5f566cbb74988aba7f606e0706a326.jpg

But not today.

Unlicensed Norev stab at Herbie looked alright, if slightly yellowy.

NI-spec Bedford RLHZ by Corgi Trackside is quite good, though the Atlas version was a bit more detailed.

Lots of Code 2 and professional Code 3 police Lledo Days Gone also on offer, still.

IMG_20260213_082800.jpg.0f9e6df7bbe19a182ef40714f2210315.jpg

Moving onwards, we're on Week 4 of Paddy not shifting any of this lot:

IMG_20260213_0833322.jpg.f6f156c9e30e6eb6bcb9e1b42794a6b8.jpg

I was vaguely interested in this Corgi Majors transporter trailer to attach to my recently found Scammell Handyman - but not at £15, no.

IMG_20260213_0833242.jpg.fe292193b4010dd97c7e9d9db62c6247.jpg

Other stalls had a smattering of  diecast, though not much. Those MoYs in the lurid colour coordinated boxes sometimes appear too appealing for comfort...

IMG_20260213_0834392.jpg.a12dde1d12aaaad3ed504e174c190b2c.jpg

Unfortunately the Model T had a smashed roof as well as a rumpled box.

IMG_20260213_083504.jpg.ab12cf41c3a3e4edeeb784cd763922d2.jpg

One of the jewellery stalls that's started having a crack at old diecast had at least tidied their shelves and put some of the Corgi trucks on display:

IMG_20260213_083529.jpg.27365ba2a6267027c4e6d2d2906ddd65.jpg

While a militaria stall had a couple of Franklin Mint-esque 1/24 models, and a Corgi Classics Scammell Scarab:

IMG_20260213_0833512.jpg.9fb970ebc452f7691b491bb1c1104378.jpg

The Giffer has had these Dinkys on his stall for a fair while now, and at £25 or £30 a go, they'll likely be there a while yet:

IMG_20260213_0840132.jpg.0c34c55ed67ecd5437cbaf5eaef00fdd.jpg

Once again, Alan's Emporium was the final stop, and therefore the linchpin upon which all my hopes and dreams rested.

Took a bit of a wander out over lunchtime, partly for the novelty of being outside without feeling like there was a hosepipe being trained on me...

Some unfamiliar Hot Wheels Pop Culture premiums in Toymaster:

IMG_20260213_131127.jpg.ba9d86a6bedd47f5083d46a50f59a03f.jpg

Citroen Type H van in Nightmare Before Christmas get-up was new to me, and also a bit of a peculiar choice. TV era Batmobile was also one I don't recall seeing before; packaging on both was marked ©2025 so I guess these are from an older mix that didn't hit the shelves near me while current.

I'm still looking out for the maroon Stranger Things BMW E23 from the Pop Culture range - but although I've spotted the rest of this case in quite a few places, the Beemer seems to be long gone.

Still, overstock has a way of showing up in unlikely places months or years later, so I'm not gonna get too hung up over it...

I find myself wondering - are Matchbox collectors drifting away? Just kinda surprised to see that none of these apparently desirable Mix B releases have sold since I saw them last week in this particular branch of Poundland:

IMG_20260213_1328332.jpg.9984a181b26191520273efcedc1af213.jpg

There were about five blue RAV4s on the pegs. Maybe resellers/scalpers are all going after Pokémon cards instead these days - I was only in Toymaster for a few minutes, but a steady stream of (adult) customers were coming in asking for them.

The big branch of The Entertainer had nothing new - no Matchbox at all, and their Hot Wheels mainlines are stuck at the tail end of 2025. Premiums just consisting of multiple pegs of EuroSpeed hypercars, which interest me not one jot, and still dozens of those bloody Rotsuns.

IMG_20251229_133246_edit_2267926886465008.jpg.2ab09032524c26044392b80545653698.jpg

How many of these did they make?

Poundstretcher and B&M had bollock-all either.

So I hopped over to the model shop in Smithfield, and while they didn't really have anything I was looking for in their new Mattel area, there were some decent things in the loose baskets...

It really was in very nice condition with good glazing and only minimal scuffing to the red printing; however the shop was closing up early today and I was being ushered towards the door, so I didn't have time to put out a WhatsApp alert...

Only a pound, too.

Haven't bought any mainline HWs locally for some weeks now. Anyone else finding there to be very little new stuff around?

Good job @bunglebus picked up this lot for me:

The new Del Sol casting is very nice. I missed out on the Skyline set a while back, luckily Rich got it and the 240SX/Silvia set at a good price.

I had this one - briefly- as a nipper.

Boxed Superfast are too salty pricewise nowadays to be a regular purchase.

Very much so,to the point I've given up looking. Which meant the arrival of a Cogbox the other day was appreciated all the more, these being the first example of either that I've seen.

Thank you @Datsuncog!IMG_20260214_125054.jpg.a3698c31787603559e4a9312d20e6634.jpg

As alluded to in my last post, I did a bit more to my shelf display model. Built up a spare end to a raised level with access road up to it for a car park on top just to display a bunch of cars on. Used the texture paint for the surface which took ages to dry with the cold wet weather.
The bare patch between the path and car park edge where the Cortina is will have some polystyrene glued down there, which I’ll carve to a slope as a bit of a hill up to the car park.

My old Corgi Jr Transit pickup is now in paint.
Stuck to as close as I could to it’s factory colour and used a can of Ford signal yellow.

IMG_8931.jpeg.903e703aeb6c103448da27b56b94aec2.jpeg

On the theme of Transits, the parcel van is in paint now.
I think it’s come out well given how much of it is built from scratch! I’ll leave it to cure for a bit now then paint in the details and do the glazing.
I remember these being used by local farmers and wholesalers as mobile shops when I was a kid. They’d fill them with local produce then drive around the local housing estates selling it.

IMG_8929.jpeg.2dcae97d92828f9a3c8b5e0b63ff9a80.jpeg

One of the cheap damaged partwork trucks I got a little while back has donated its trailer to become the trailer for my P&O Roadways Scania 111 artic. It’s been stripped down, everything keyed with a fibreglass pencil and any original decals removed then washed off. Curtain body is in primer now ready for white top coat tomorrow.
Main body needs to be primed and some under ride side bars added then painting light blue.

I know this thread gets busy, and this will probably get forgotten about, but the collection is huge. Is it worth me getting him to sign up and see if he can sell some on here?

I had a nice romantic day planned today, but miss_bb has thrown a sickie. A day messing about with toy cars it is then.

Amazon not looking too bad in its new red coat

Unloved ambulance has had some attention from various saws, files and now chemical metal. Hoping my plan works

I found a utoob video last night intended for plastic model fiddlers, but some of the techniques looked interesting. To that end, a bit of spare plastic (from a model kit funny enough), was melted in a jar of acetone, and blobs of it applied to the missing bumper ends

Time will tell if this method is any good.

Converted a Welly Lupo dash to RHD, quite pleased with this

They did that acetone trick on car SOS with Lego bricks to strengthen the light surrounds and other feeble plastics on a pre facelift Discovery 1.
