I didn’t realise that the Ruff Trek was based on an Australian (Holden) ute. It always looked the epitome of the yank pickup.

I sort of admire how cash strapped Britains turned a series 3 into a 90, but I cant un-see the back of the rear arches or the track of the axles! Were Britains ERTL then or pre-ERTL?

Absolutely filthy weather, so the toy fair was rammed. Paying to get in early avoids the crush.

Why am I only just realising the Corgi FX4 came in three sizes, not two?

The boxed Matchbox Toyota pickup is absolutely fantastic. Pricey, but very cool.

I miss toyfairs.  There's some nice stuff in those pics, @bunglebus; thank you.  I particularly liked the boxes of restorable old Dinkies.  I'd be amazed if there was anything among them I could afford, but that's a whole other consideration.

I'm guessing the last pic is your haul from today?  Well done if so.  Have those Matchbox ambulances suddenly become "a Thing" on these pages?

Okey dokey, today's doings. Starting with boxed stuff, a certain Mr. E pushed me to buy a couple of the Chinese Dinky repops at a reasonable price

Moving on with a slightly embarrassing tale; in the box with that Pilen was a Corgi Green Hornet car which I pulled out for inspection, unfortunately firing the missile off into the distance as I did so! Despite several of us searching it never materialised, but as it's behind the tables somewhere it hopefully came to light as they packed up...

Moving swiftly on, found a few donors for my custom ambulance project, none of which have anything any better than what I already have 🙃

She also has quite a few Land Rovers and horse boxes

So she picked a few out of her spares box for @Split_Pin to display with his Britain's horse box

Thank you! I'll PM you in the morning☺️

I actually now have another Britain's Land Rover in the pipeline, this one is the correct version to go with the horse trailer but it has no canopy. They're over £8 on ebay so thats not happening. However I had some success in fashioning a canvas sunroof for an old Polistil Fiat 500 restoration so I might have a go at making one with some kind of wire frame and material.

Then I'll need to find some kind of livestock trailer to accompany the green one with the sheep on the side. It's going to end up being a blinking smallholding 😂

Corgis £2 each, Land Rover mainly for the canopy and Lotus for the screen, driver and steering wheel/mirrors. The Radar truck I didn't expect to like much, but it's great! Also Mrs Concern insists it goes on display

The burgundy one of you 2 plastic models is a first gen Firebird a 68-9 it there's no frt 1/4 lights, I think it's a formula spec or ramair spec, but I'm not a big firt gen fan more a second gen 70-78 ( can't stand nosecone on last facelift 79-81).

Not sure what other one is

Yes I knew what the car* was meant to be, just I have no idea what make the plastic models are and google lens has no idea either!

*I'll own up to calling the Firebird a Camaro until @eddyramrod corrected me!

I think these are lesser-spotted AMT 1:43 kits. Known at some stage as the 'Mini Trophy' range – both these cars were offered but there's hardly any info online. Does mean you might be able to find replacement parts though, if you're inclined

Why am I only just realising the Corgi FX4 came in three sizes, not two?

Why are those Hot Wheels on the cork board so expensive?

Super Treasure Hunts, aka planned scarcity to generate buzz/ animosity/ profiteering amongst collectors.

Real Rider rubberised wheels, often spectraflame paint too, and better decals.

Rumour has it that STHs are more commonly packed in with the long card cases; the short cards (most typically encountered in UK stores) seem to have fewer of them. US dominated collector groups go mad over them.

Never found one in the wild myself, though have encountered a Matchbox Super Chase (same idea).

Well look here, after the MIA Caprice seller promised to send a replacement (remember it had the nicer 4 spoke wheels), the original  car has turned up:

20260216_145229.jpg.e35aa5b214af347cc8882d9f249ae40b.jpg

It was wrapped in a jiffy bag, fully addressed to me but unfranked and had then been wrapped again  inside a coffee box, covered in brown paper and addressed to me again. Both times the address was correct and in my opinion perfectly legible.

Who knows, probably a stress the seller could have done without. I swiftly closed the ebay return request and thanked the seller for sorting it all out.

The car is bloody cool. I had a MIB one of these about 25 years ago but it was 2 tone with whitewalls and I never took to it. This cab version is way more like it. I can almost hear an early 80s film soundtrack and lots of traffic noise in the background when I look at it!
