I think I've had a similar scenario and the sorting office found my parcel - it must have the correct details for the postie to have brought it in the first place

Old Dinky Volkswagen beetle that I found a while back.

It had been repainted and missing the engine cover.

Wasn't particularly taken with the later wheels, but had a spares car that provided a new engine cover and early style wheels.

Found some paint in Halfords that was near enough the correct original colour.

Quite happy how this turned out.

Couldn’t believe it this morning when I woke up. It actually wasn’t raining for once! Must’ve been the longest dry period all year so far.
That meant I could get from the house to the shed without the risk of drowning too.

Did a bit of painting, chassis for the Leyland Lynx is now primed and satin black. Decided on a colour for the Cortina mk3 too! So that’s drying overnight.

Did some work on Val & Earl’s Jeep too.
Cab has got a new rear bulkhead with the correct small window. Bed has had fuel tank made from rectangular plastic section, then the extra boxing in around the back and the new home made style bumper with the recess for the tow hitch.

Ill sand off the tailgate detail once everything is cured as the original truck had a piece of wood as a tailgate!

Yeah man, it really annoys me that I forgot to paint the back of the headlight rhinestones on mine before I glued them back in

Dinky Toys 129 Volkswagen De Luxe resto

While I'm on the subject, K70 has gone pear shaped too. Paint had gone off overnight but I wasn't too happy with the finish so wanted to clear coat it after a careful flatting back. Then I found a tiny hair stuck to the bonnet, trying to sand that out and I could see the primer starting to come through, so had to give it another coat of paint - and it did this

Ungrateful git is sitting in paint thinner now, I'll have to try decanting some of the colour into my airbrush and doing it that way instead, it had occured to me beforehand but I was being lazy

It’s a bugger when it’s something difficult to replace like that Caprice.
The parcels I had it with were an Ethernet cable which wasn’t expensive but at least easy to replace, and they damaged a parcel I sent to @Hertz and a few items fell out going missing. Nothings happening about either despite pressing them a few times since.

Hopefully you’ll have better luck.

TBF The nice postie lady did go back to the local sorting office and found the missing cars on the floor near the cages and brought them to me the next day. So worth an ask @Split_Pin or visit to your local RM depot.

I thought the Merc may have been a partworks James Bond one, I have one somewhere in storage, but it doesn't appear to be.

The Golf looks great with that inside-put wheel, like a plastic wheel trim.

I like the recovery truck, never seen one with turning wheels, but then I never had Matchbox SuperKings trucks.

If any of these are available. I'll be very happy to give them a home.

The tyres don't stay on especially well, now I know why. Rather a cool set of wheels I thought, a bit like polished Centerlines or DDS etc

There's one on eBay with the same wheels and tyres, for over 10 times what I paid

I bought it with these two other sets, similarly missing coaches.

The General Lee and Old McDonalds farm truck are the standout ones.

^ that and the Chopper. You'd get a tenner for the ERTL on a good day, where's it made out for interest? I've got USA, China, Hong Kong and Singapore in my collection!

I can never get as shiny a finish with this as I did with the 151 stuff I used to use - unfortunately after they rebranded it as "Yacht Lacquer" I've found it crazes after a few weeks, which has ruined some previously lovely paint jobs.

Moving on, thought I'd found another Voikowageng, but this one has nothing on the base other than Made in Chi-na

Hong Kong.

Thought the blue van was interesting as never seen one before. Also got a Bruce bonus of some freebies from the seller.

Maybe a slightly lighter green than original but it's what I had. Early wheels with push in caps sit wonkily on the very thin original axles, there's not a lot you can do unless you literally glue them on, it's just wear in the hubs doing it. Love the pressed in wheel centres the look a look like NSU RO80 wheels if you squint a bit.

Think there are parts from three different cars here, the bodies bend very easily so I'm happy I got this one pretty straight in the end. I do have another square light base but the towbar is snapped off. This one came up nice after a citric acid bath and a whizzy wheel once over from the Dremel

Nicely done!

Majorette did quite a thorough job on changing it to the round headlights version. Just noticed that they reduced the size of the indicator under the bumper and added a pair of foglights inboard of them.

Lovely job, I actually prefer the colour you used.

For the wheels could you use a tiny length of plastic or brass tube to sleeve the worn wheel stubs where the axle fits into them? Might be a fiddle though.

I think the only way would be to glue the holes up and re-drill them, there's only a very narrow area that actually sits on the axle as the wheels are quite deep to take those plastic caps. Axles are extremely thin and are just bent at 90° rather than splayed at the ends

Lovely work. Could you remind me the spec of the bolt and drill bit you use to replace the rivets on the baseplate? It looks really neat. I remember asking ages ago but didn't make a note of your reply at the time 😆

1.5 mm drill, M2 tap and then I have various M2 screws in 2-4mm length, either countersunk or cap head. The K70 got a countersunk as it seemed to fit best.

These are some I've used before
