@Lord Sterling have a look on evilBay for the James Bond partwork Merc’s. There were a good few different types and you can sometimes pick them up reasonably cheaply. They might have a style of wheel your after.

Ford GT collection delivered today. No limited edition number printed on the box. Should I email them to ask?

Someone on FB found Hot Wheels XL in Smyths, so I went to investigate - only the fantasy ones left in my store but another had two full boxes in stock - manager said I could only buy three though! Luckily I had the Mrs with me so I could get all the ones I wanted.

Porsche is the nicest to my way of thinking

I can't explain why these are so pleasing, there's just something very funky about a giant sized regular Hot Wheels

Even the bases are facsimiles of the regular versions, as are the wheels - although they're fixed solidly to the axles rather than spinning independently apparently

Even them being on a "short" card just like our UK mainlines is pleasing, not sure how long Mattel will continue with this line but there should be 24 this year according to the numbering

Roughly what size/scale are these?

Was there a yellow Rover sterling or am I imagining that?

Nope:

There was also an all-white one for Matchbox Graffic-Traffic.

Cheers. The problem is, I don't want to gut a perfectly good model to gain some wheels.

This is what it has currently:

This is what its supposed to have:

s-l1200(23).webp.2b56218686d548975228b8c0b7d4c3db.webp

To be honest, I don't mind. It doesn't look offensive and its missing its taxi sign.

@Lord Sterling the wheels were from a Universal Hobbies MK1 Citroen Berlingo Van.

I don't think I have anything suitable at present for your E-Class. Maybe one of the Schuco Mercs, like the early CLK might be suitable?

IMG20260119181457.jpg.d0f00db112d8a05d8c87c5c1c2ed0198.jpg

If anyone wants the remains of the Berlingo btw, they can have it for the price of whatever Royal Fail charges.

Cheers. I am honestly tempted by the Van, but I'd need to source some wheels. Don't mind if they look like alloys instead of steelies, so long as it rolls and is displayable.

I've looked on eBay for wheels and there isn't anything on there much tempting.

It is a bit of a pain if you want something specific in 1:43 wheel-wise. There are some things, mostly Ford related.
I wanted a set of 80’s style ‘turbine’ wheels for a pickup truck a while back and drew a total blank. Likewise I need some suitable wheels for my mk2 Fiesta but for a Ghia, there’s nothing.

I don’t think I’ve got much spare here either like the ones your after. Most of my spares are American car style wheels which probably won’t look very good😄

I'm highly amused reading the base of the Chevy pickup, where it claims to be a "Sliverado" :)

Thanks as it's hard to find square body's in that scale will pass it on.

If you think that's difficult, try sourcing wheels in 1:76. There's literally nothing available aftermarket as far as I can see so the only way to do a wheel swap is to rob another complete model. I wanted a set of Minilites for a TR6, a pretty common style, but found nothing even remotely suitable. 1:64 seems well served by the 3D printers but they're too big for 1:76.

D'you remember me saying the Draguar engine was the same as the Speed Kings Cougar Dragster recently?

Looks feasible

It's close, but there's a definite difference. I wonder if this one would fit the Scorpion..?

If anyone's in Home Bargains and is having a guilty look through the Zuru Metal Machines, I'm after a couple of these VWesque ones

I did actually pick some up the other day, as despite their 79p plastic bodied cheapness, they have a few interesting ones in the mix, idea being repaint and add detail, except for the chrome pickup which just needs highlights adding and different wheels

I'm looking at a few of these job lots currently on ebay with a single seller, all similarly non-specific listings with fairly vague photos. This one probably looks like the most 'interesting' (although others have more valuable stuff hidden in there). Just wondering if these sorts of cars would be of interest if offered up here? I qyite fancy buying a 'mystery box' like this but don't really have any long-term desire to keep this stuff. I know, I sound mental. Just looking at the condition of what you can see and a lot of these look stone mint – and the Sikus, Majorettes and Norev Minijets etc must be of interest to somebody, no?

@Lord Sterling looks as though your Merc is a 1:43 Herpa? I'll try and keep an eye out for anything suitable though.

If your still local, or any one else for that matter in the Midlands. There a toy fair on in March. Usually a good mix of stalls there.

I'm liking the Siku R5 in the top right. Shame that the Siku Golf isn't white though, like the one I had as a kid.

Came as part of a set, with the Mercedes 208 recovery truck & trailer.

I used to drive one of those Mercs for work.  Fuck, it was horrible!  It's only purpose on the planet seemed to be to cripple British drivers.

That said, I think I need one of them by Siku, to put a flatbed on it and paint up...

My Father hired one once, back in 00 to move house with.

Every time we drove pass the place that he rented it from, he'd moan about it!! 🤣

A flatbed conversion sounds a great idea. I still have my original Siku 208 from that set. It's minus the towbar, sadly due to overloading!

Those job lots seem to go for a surprising amount of money whenever I watch them. I think people must believe there's gold hidden at the bottom of the pile, although those ones do look unusually nice.

That said, I'd nab the Matchbox and Siku Golfs, Siku Merc SL, white Corgi Mercedes,  yellow Jaguar, green Polo, red Matchbox Roller, Skoda and possible upside down Datsun 260, Lone Star Corvette, Norev Fiat, Yatming Firebird (I think) and probably many more.

I'd bet they go for £50+ though
