FakeConcern Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Toy fair in Worthing today and as usual I managed to buy a load of shite most of it not that cheap, but oh well... First for £5 each, but he let me have 5 for £20 which was ok The Camaro is by Franklin Mint, not seen one before and it is a bit too scale model rather than toy. I like the two Dinky yank tanks and have never had either until now. I have a Dinky Land Crab already, but this will be good to repaint. The Cambridge I got as it's better than the one I have already. I thought it was a Matchbox Yesteryears when I first saw it as the base looks very like the Cudas I recently got (and have moved on to readers of this thread). The opening doors and bonnet kind of push it to a toy so I'll allow myself to keep it unless @eddyramrod or someone else particularly wants it The same seller had these for £2 each The Marina has a perfect shell, but missing other bits and I think I have one with broken A pllars so should make up a good one. The Cortina will get a repaint and different wheels (not sure what yet) as it's complete apart from that. Often these are silly money even when quite broken. I've never seen an Auto Pilan Javelin before, shame this has a missing door, engine and glazing but is interesting anyway Another of my favourite sellers had these for £2 each and I couldn't resist another Corgi transporter haha. The two Zephyrs should make one good one and I've never had a Dinky Herald before. I got the Dinky SD1 thinking @eddyramrod would want it, but luckily he doesn't as it's really nice! The same seller had these as well, Triumph 1300 £7, Transit £4 and Herald £1. I intend to civvy the Transit as I already have a nice rozzer one from @danthecapriman which replaced the one I had as a kid. The 1300 is lovely, not seen one for anything like as cheap before and I was amazed that the Corgi Hreald still has the bonnet attached... I may have paid too much for all of these, but got carried away! Crapi has missing headlamp and side vent £10, Victor missing interior and glazing (how?) £5 and 356 is a bad repaint £5. never mind I like them anyway, not sure what I'll do withe the 101, but the 356 will bet painted and the Crapi will join the two purple examples with the earlier wheels I have already As we came into the fair i spotted this 1/18 Mini, I have quite a few different Minis, but not this one and I wasn't sure what it was. The seller wanted £10 On the way out it was still there and I looked at it again, but I could see Mrs Concern looking very disapproving. I was also pretty sure the wheels are wrong, I liked it anyway, but was about to walk away when Mrs Concern offered £8 and it was accepted! I think having done search that it's Motormax Mrs Concern didn't get much for herself whereas I got Datsuncog, bunglebus, Jon and 8 others 11

That 101 is another that seems to go for good prices on the Bay, I’d say at a fiver it’s worth that all day long! Its condition and price would make it a good candidate for a custom job… not that often you get chance to do that to them because everyone seems to want £££shitloads for them. eddyramrod 1

I agree about the 101, but for now I'm intending to get the glazing from Steve and find an interior donor that's close enough to look ok. The paint is not that bad so it can stay like it is until I decide to do this It's another one I've never seen IRL before so I snapped it up! andrew e, AndyW201, danthecapriman and 1 other 4

I’ve got one here somewhere, not one I’ll be messing around with though as it’s quite nice. Didn't they only do them in that red or the pale yellow. Don’t think there were any others? It’s a nice model though so it’s a bit of a shame if they didn’t release any other colours. FakeConcern 1
FakeConcern Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 Dinky and Corgi generally only did one or two colours of most models I think. Funny as a kid I wasn't aware the Dinky 101 existed, most of my toy cars were Corgi, I imagine the local toy shop only stocked them and not Dinky, Spot On etc. I have some of each from childhood, but I think they were either holiday spending money or presents from relatives. danthecapriman 1

Smaller independent toy shops, or places like newsagents and general stores which might have carried some toys, weren't allowed to carry Dinky. I'm not sure at what point this policy ended, but it might have been why you couldn't find Dinky locally! FakeConcern, Split_Pin and danthecapriman 3
danthecapriman Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 Some more code 3’s/customs or whatever you want to call them from me. I started this one on the weekend. Bond collection Chevy BelAir. Not what people immediately think of when you say Chevy BelAir but it’s the final outing for the BelAir name which by the 70’s had become the base model of full size Chevy sedans similar to the higher spec Caprice and Impala. I got this one very cheap because of its condition. The display card sleeve was missing, chrome on bumpers peeling off and the base screws were incredibly rusty and hard to get out. I suspect it’s been stored somewhere damp for a long time to get like that but it makes for a cheap repaint candidate! Did the usual strip down and respray into BMW deep sea blue metallic. Also sprayed the Austin A55. Decided on two tone because I enjoy making things difficult for myself! The masking up for the turquoise was a pain in the arse! It's not as bright as it looks in the pic! Masking worked well thankfully so I’ll let it harden off then start on the bright trims. andrew e, RayMK, Remspoor and 10 others 13
sierraman Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 Mid job on this… for the uninitiated it’s going to be a Gran Canaria Taxi like I remember travelling in as a kid. Need to make an antenna and find a way of putting Taxi on the doors. Plus a roof sign. andrew e, AndyW201, Split_Pin and 4 others 7
FakeConcern Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 Excellent work @danthecapriman love the A55 especially! looking forward to see more and also the taxi of @sierraman. RayMK Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 I have had this Polistil Citroen CX for ages. Several years ago I was experimenting with suitable back drops - this one is in fact a tea tray with an appropriate Frenchness. At the time, I was not satisfied with the result. I've just rediscovered the attempt amongst my photo files and thought 'What the hell. Why not post it.' danthecapriman, Datsuncog, morrisoxide and 8 others 11
