Here's something you're unlikely to have seen before. Why have I chopped this Maestro into a floppytop? It did exist but only as a concept drawing by Stephen Harper and was never built, so here's my might-have-been interpretation. Would it have been a success? I suspect not.

Agree it would have sold poorly, if at all.  Idea based on Visa Convertible apparently https://www.aronline.co.uk/cars/austin/maestro/cabriolet/

 

There was a Montego that got the treatment in real life.  When it appeared now and again on the Ebay thread on here and elsewhere, it got plenty of ridicule

If it survives, attitudes may soften

Only sold for £350 at King's Lynn auction back in 2015, so unlikely it does

Even more shocking is Oxford Diecast.  It looks like they still haven't done that Montego they promised, in either scale

The big Charlie Mack book on Matchbox lists out the full MB Dinky range, which is handy to have.

The 2CV might be one of the last produced in the late 90's, and if so is a repackaged Vitesse casting. I think by that point they were only being sold mail-order via the Matchbox Collectables imprint, rather than in shops.

The Model Shop in Smithfield has/ had a Matchbox Dinky 2CV along with some other tail-end models from the Vitesse range like the Messerschmitt Kabinroller and Renault 4L. Think he was asking rather a lot for them; more than I cared to stump up, anyway...

As it was such a warm* morning, I thought I'd check out the first boot sale of '24. It was surprisingly busy, even one nutter there in shorts and flip flops 😐

There were quite a few tat pedlars too, although 90% of my haul came from a young lad who's been selling nothing but diecasts for the last few years, and gives me the heads-up on anything he thinks I might like - such as this tidy Corgi Range Rover

Why did Matchbox go to the trouble of casting the sunroof, skylights, rear corner windows etc in, but mould the central windscreen pillar as part of the glass? *sigh*

Sand Digger is tidy

Picked up this Majorette Safrane in case one of you wanted it. Didn't see the missing headlight at the time

Why did Majorette put a dog in the Fiat 127 looking out of what should be a fixed window? *sigh*

Yatming Marzal is quite unusual

Dinky Chevette is in good shape

Hot Wheels Merc SL has glowing glazing

It's quite hard to find Hot Wheels Grand Nationals with the hood intact, as for reasons unknown they made it as a separate part rather than hinged

Today was a local toy fair,normally I have to drive an hour or two,but this one was 10mins away.

Siku transit is a welcome addition, been after one of these for a while now.

Blue Matchbox RS2000 with Phantom stickers,quite a rare find in reasonable condition. 

Majorette Renault 5 in 5 door flavour.

Two Lone Star models,were this poorly Roller and the much better Lotus.

Majorette Chevrolet pickemup truck.

Nice Matchbox GMC Reefer truck in slightly less common yellow,with door still intact.

Zylmex E type.

Darda Porsche 959.

Majorette BMW CSL,and Late Lone Star Caddy.

Polistil Renault 16.

Plus a 12,sadly repainted. 

Norev mini jet Renault 12 in very nice shape.

Matchbox Cortina in gold,I can remember being extremely jealous of a school mate who got one of them,I could only find a green one!!

Two Wildcat Mustangs,one to be repainted at some stage. 

The orange one,has an unusual orange base too!

Next is this Corgi 300sl.

An unusual Toyota Celica by Konami.

Finally my favourite find of the day,this Boxed Corgi Car transporter. 

Not totally mint,but in very nice condition,box is slightly dog eared though. 

So all in all,a grand time out.

The 2CV was released as DY-32.

The last two in the original series, number wise are the VW Karman Ghia DY035/A

and the Jaguar XK150, DY036/A

The second issue of the XK150 had a Matchbox Collectables style number DYM38304

The later Matchbox Collectable European Economy Car Collection, that was made from old Vitesse moulds included VEM01-M VW Cabriolet (Sorry no picture)

A few more I picked up today. I actually collect old Irish car mags but have small collection of model Fiats and the 1500 is really nice. The Kadett will probably go to my brother as he has a full size one, a Rallye  the lucky git

I went to visit my Brother today,he builds a lot of modern military kits,he gets sent them to review for magazines.One of his latest was interesting,it's an unlicensed 1/35 scale BMW 3 series with gas rockets

Remember seeing the montego at billing in mid 90's accompanied by a MK1 metro convertible ( crayford  I think).

We decided to go to the Midhurst toy fair today despite it being quite a trek. Mrs Concern got a fair bit of stuff for the summer house and for her projects. I didn't see anything I really wanted, but picked up these I couldn't leave behind for £1 each. I'll only keep the Corgi Elan, Porsche and E Type and I thought @eddyramrod might like the Dinky Ford Sedan for his new project. The rest are for wheels and parts.

Except these I got for @bunglebusassuming I've got the right person from the Emergency Channel!

Also hope I picked up the corrects models!

Edit Eddy has claimed the Corgi Rozzer Jag, but if anyone else wants any of the others for cost let me know (Corgi Mk3 Escrote, BBurago Ferrari, Matchbox Camaro, Corgi 911).

Yes thats correct a scratch on the Lexus and poor lighting, oh and wheel swapsies.

 

Also got these, 4 for a pound from a charity shop in Whitby. The Cement mixer duped me its a 50th reissue and I thought the 55 Chevy was a colour changer but it isn't, unless they stop working?

Still can't go wrong for 25p each.

 

Edit I also found a Orange Dinky Fiat Ritmo today that I'm kicking myself for not getting.
