I've found a diecast in Spain too. Just wandering along the beach and spot this among the seashells

Looking at that again, I reckon it almost needs a donor shell on hand to graft in the missing bit, whilst retaining the patina of the surviving bits of metal. Gen-u-in rat look.

This arrived yesterday -

corgi cheverolet caprice. Not one I owned when I was small - it came out in 1980 - I liked superfast and airfix kits back then plus I was starting to take an interest in Star Wars toys.

Never a big seller - in fact I don't ever recall seeing it in shops. It's a nice model - large and heavy. It also came as a  taxi and stock car - green and two tone blue and silver versions also exist. With the postage I got for under a tenner.

I’ve got the yellow cab version, still in its box and a really nice unboxed plain green one. They are really nice. One of my favourite Corgi’s in that scale.
Im pretty sure the 2 tone silver & blue ones are the rarest. I think some of those ones also still used the earlier 4 spoke style wheels too.

I've got some aftermarket wheels that do a fair impression of original 5 spoke Rockets ones if you prefer - think they're slightly larger though

It's staying as-is, it can keep my kid custom Dinky company

@Spottedlaurel happy birthday!

Had my weekly pilgrimage to Morrison's to get my unhealthy food stash for the Scotland truck run.

I was pleased to find my local store has  started doing diecast again, with Hot Wheels and Matchbox mainlines, along with some 1/43 Jada Star Car things, (KITT, BTTF DeLorean, F&F etc). Sadly the Hot Wheels and Matchbox were still old cases, the HW was the batch that Aldi got in months ago, and the Matchbox was that batch that has been everywhere since 2023, yep, the one with the green Ranchero and the blue Nissan Sentra... But it was encouraging all the same, that particular Morrisons has been one of my more successful hunting grounds over the years.

It wasn't all bad news though, they had some Matchbox 5-packs in, and they looked like pretty new ones. I was going to get some pics, but loitering around Berwick Hills Morrisons early on a morning taking pictures of toys isn't the best of ideas... There were some nice packs, including a "British Roadways"  one, with a Trafalgar blue-ish  Minor saloon, The new Coffee Cruisers one isn't bad either, but this is one pack I couldn't leave behind,

IMG_20240411_143811.jpg.3ca74802f831cd26b35426266a849aa3.jpg

The Skyline GTX is still one of my fave castings, not a bad livery either,

IMG_20240411_143901.jpg.a80583d3c8673e5613eb82739a097259.jpg

Not sure about the colour on this one, but I've been after one of these spaceship Civic Type Rs for yonks now, so it's nice to finally get one,

First Matchbox Impreza too, though I've got quite a few Hot Wheels ones,

IMG_20240411_143958.jpg.706365c9a8428beff7718eb8718dba21.jpg

The Mazda 3 looks quite sharp in white,

IMG_20240411_144012.jpg.42438b21a610973fc2caa3a0d66cb174.jpg

Great colour scheme too on the 4-Runner.

Sadly no, I've been on the lookout for that since you put pictures up of it! 😆

Pic heavy post, just so you're aware...

I've been doing a bit of outdoor model work today, starting with a blast of primer on these...

100_1023.JPG.8c402362b2af79a91d2e0ad40dd30c19.JPG

And while I was outside drilling some more apart, a box arrived.

100_1024.JPG.c87abf9132c1b7c1f3b56c56c4090186.JPG

Oooh, hello, what could this be?  Return address tells me it's from @danthecapriman so the only thing it can possibly be is a birthday present.

100_1025.JPG.21f401f23485294a2f74b02e438f38c4.JPG

Which it clearly is!  I had to unpack it in stages.

100_1029.JPG.42a515c9e4e95c3a14e2e7b12ec9ea43.JPG

That's most of it.  It also included an ebay bargain that I had arranged to be posted to Dan, to defer the cold-shouldering I always get when a parcel arrives.

100_1032.JPG.db5cb3d747117a1dece07c57065798a0.JPG

Florida Highway Patrol Chevy Caprice in 1/18 scale.  I have the same model in NYPD blue, and had a white Chicago one until I sold it a while back.

Oh and those models I drilled apart earlier?  They went through the Cosmic Soda bath and are now in an overnight rinse.

100_1034.JPG.af2c444a0ad565c399000303c3478f7f.JPG

That Jag will need a second bath, which is fine, I'll be doing some more soon.

Glad you like them Eddy!

By the way, did you find the small bits I put inside the box truck body? I didn’t want them to get missed just floating about in that big box.

That Caprice is a bloody lovely model too.

Posted

Yes I did, and thank you; but I chose not to explore them just yet.

"Like" them is rather an understatement!  I am positively delighted in every way.

Oh and for clarity: of course it isn't an actual birthday present, although that day is looming.  I did pay Dan for these!

Funnily enough I treated myself too..

Manta CC is one I've been looking for ever since I had my full size version.

400 was a cheap auction buy over here in Bg,and in Rothmans Racing colours probably the best looking rally car..

The best looking Manta 400 was the Andrew Heat For Hire.

Just as a heads-up, I'll be dropping some diecast clear-outs later on this evening, on my car boot thread - say around 7.30pm or so.

Will post the link up here whenever we're good to go.

Various bits and pieces of assorted scales and eras, nothing more than a tenner, and most in the sub-£1 bracket.

There were a few dibs claimed when I posted up a teaser photo a couple of weeks ago; I hadn't worked out prices then but I have now - so rest assured you'll be given first refusal, but no hard feelings if you'd sooner pass.

Just feeling a need to clear a bit of space, get some larger things rehomed, and see what I have left for myself.

Too much frenzied acquisition, and not enough time spent actually appreciating and enjoying the things I've picked up, seems to be what ails me of late.

Once this lot has been sorted out, I'll be moving to finalise any outstanding tat boxes and get those moved on too - but I'll be sending out PMs in the coming weeks in a staggered manner, to avoid winding up with thirty boxes in the hall (again). If you're super-keen to get yours sooner rather than later though, let me know!

Oh, and keep an eye out for a super-special diecast roffle coming up too - I've decided to move on my Corgi Model Club 'shadow collection', comprising the inaugural Walls Ice-Cream Van release plus the next ten releases in the range, up to and including the first release Bond Aston.

I don't much fancy my chances of flogging them individually online or finding a buyer for a job lot, but there's a small chance I might be able to shift a few tickets at a fiver a go.

Again, will post a link up here for easy reference once I've got photos uploaded etc.

Cheers all.

I'd be keen on the CMC Mini Countryman if sold individually.

Daah, the Countryman's not in the selection I'm selling, sorry!

I'd taken out a subscription, and then thought it would be a good wheeze to take out a second subscription so I'd have a set for myself and then another set to later resell, as an investment*.

Fast forward a few months and suddenly we were moving house, so with all the financial drains that involves I cancelled the second subscription just after the James Bond Aston Martin arrived.

I'm holding on to my 'main' collection though, for the time being!

Linky link to the CMC Roffle is here, though:

Had a few new arrivals the last week.

Down here at Dans Redneck Trucking inc business has gone through the roof. So much so we’ve had to buy a new tractor unit! Seen here ready to take out our new tanker trailer.

Spanish Dodge.
Originally built by Barrieros but the company was bought out by Chrysler Europe, who began selling these in the UK as the Dodge 300 from the mid 70’s to sometime in the mid 80’s. Never around in big numbers really but here they certainly were. And from the sounds of it, they were pretty rapid!

IMG_4343.jpeg.13b882a0f1b5b3accf1f5532f75eed40.jpeg

This model is actually of a much later one after they raised the cab height and gave it a tilt mechanism. Eventually I’ll modify this one to become the older lower version.

IMG_4331.jpeg.b8b4c4012d100c4e9d89cc412bbb4357.jpeg

Did a bit of painting and other bits & bobs too.
Got the ex 007 partwork Dodge RAM pickup finished.
Can’t decide whether or not to paint the wiper arms & mirrors silver? I’m pretty pleased with this one.

The paint I used on it is just a can of cheapo eBay metallic red motorcycle paint. I didn’t actually expect much of it but it goes on beautifully and the spray from the can is a perfect little fan pattern for stuff like this.

Ive been trying a new (to me) glue for the glazing too. I was using non blooming superglue but had mixed results with it. It’s not meant to leave that white residue behind but sometimes still does so I’ve been using Deluxe Materials Glue n’ glaze glue, which so far has been absolutely brilliant on clear plastic.

I now use AK Crystal Magic glue, but until recently I fixed 'glass' with PVA. If it's a larger moulding that includes front and rear screens, perhaps the sides too, and there's a hollow at the underside of the roof then I prefer magic tape.
