It's also possible to get a Nova in 1/18 scale - and Greenlight may even be doing an Axel Foley edition - but they are steadfastly running above my budget.

The Greenlight 1:18 is way too shiny and why does it have a V8 and wear Rallye wheels?

BHC.jpg

AMT did a kit in 1:25 but it is a rehash of their '72 Nova SS kit, which the Foley car was not.

AMT-R2-836-2.jpg.22fe6ef6332742e0396c125c10077a2d.jpg

The Foley car was a 1970 base 153ci 4-cylinder or 230ci straight-6, can't remember the sound of it though to confirm.  Maybe @Datsuncog can tell us later tonight!  Anyhow, the Revell kit would be the better bet with correct grille and wheels (that need slimmer tyres)

Greenlight have released their 1:64 model.  Available in UK for under a £12 inc postage

Probably in anticipation of the forth-coming BHC 4 film release, where the Nova is set to make a reappearance

Quote

Jenny Summers:  I remember you used to drive that crappy blue Chevy Nova
Jenny Summers:  What are you driving now?
Axel Foley:  Same crappy blue Chevy Nova

FRIDAY FUN FACT: The Nova was a replica of a real car the crew saw before filming

I visited the U Drop Inn (aka Cars garage real life forebear) in Shamrock, Texas back in 2017.

I even documented it on my now largely defunct spotting thread:

Not one to blow my own trumpet, but it's fair to say that page 13 of that thread is packed with some heavy hitting shite offerings.

Seems I made only passing remarks about it at the time but my abiding memory was of a lovingly restored building, with a pleasingly austere interior (muted bedford cord on the booth seating, instead of the expected red and white modern vinyl, for instance), not being used for very much. I think there was some tourist info inside and a pleasant lady offered us a not so pleasant pod coffee, which led us to stay a while and then inevitably buy a fridge magnet, to commemorate our visit.

Very glad it was saved though!

Now, for some trash telly and excellent nachos - and I'll respond to PMs later this evening!

Nothing very exciting for you lot, but I suppose I must be easily satisfied. Went to the market at Hailsham in the rain, well drizzle really, but there was just one seller left in a nice 740 Ovlov who described himself as "the last fuckin' man standin"...

Went to the junk shop over the road where I didn't buy a job lot of Days Gone for £25...

So went on to Burgess Hill and the Rocking Horse Emporium.

Lots of MIB Corgi & Dinky that were lovely, but out of my price bracket. Also this lovely 1/18 Sun Star Elan (sorry for the terrible photo) also out of range.

However we just came away with some cheap tat

I've been looking for a decent Corgi Monkeemobile to give Mrs Concern for her birthday, but kept getting out bid on ebay. This wasn't a bargain at £20 and is missing Mickey Dolenz, but still pretty pleased with it. The Welly caravan (looks to be a cheap copy of the Corgi one) and the Matchbox refreshment trailer were both also for Mrs Concern, while the scrap Marcos and VW recovery are for me. How does she always end up with more stuff?

Get yourself a PO box!
That way the Mrs will never see the postman delivering your ill gotten gains, and you can simply empty your PO box into the car boot and smuggle them indoors when she’s gone for a bath or on the can etc!!😆

For most of my diecast purchases now, I get them sent to my mother's house!  I then go up and retrieve them at the weekend when the Mrs is at work. GR8 for marital harmony...🤣

I don't even know if I still have the orange one any more - a lot of stuff was disposed of last year before the house move, and I've already lost track of what was kept and what went.

Once this stage of the building work's complete, I might be able to get a few display cabinets set up - and finally have a trawl through my boxes to see what I have...

1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk #211M found!

IMG_20230901_162242.thumb.jpg.5e1b2662ffda9c5d3e3329479ee307ec.jpg

The mechanism was oiled and freed and works well, scooting across the table in a pulse-jet type of way.  Must find some more of those motorised Corgi, I wonder what others were released

IMG_20230901_154823.thumb.jpg.394aeafd734da2eff9a862e378e94d4f.jpg

And for the event, the Dinky Atlas 1955 Studebaker Commander and Franklin Munt 1953 Studebaker Commander popped by to celebrate.  Enya sang a song or two.

Actually to be fair the Franklin is a very nice model and I might do a few more photos, if anyone is interested.

Brooklin did the Commander

First version was pale green, made from 1990 to 1994.

In 1994 the colour was changed to pale blue with a white roof. This lasted until 2001.

There was also a few limited runs and specials. Thi spolice version was a run of 750 pieces.

Released in 1996, according to the seller. I know other older castings were re-released by Corgi in the 1990's but this one passed me by.

Photos lifted from the auction, for posterity.

Is there a definitive list of re-releases, anywhere? Off the top of my head was the Land Rover 109, Mercedes truck, Transit tipper, Mercedes Bonna ambulance and US fire engine, in the commercial line.

Incidentally, it seems the crane bucket saw 35 years of service, debuting initially with the Jeep FC 150, in February 1961.

I saw a lamp post in a junk shop in Brighton the other day, didn't ask how much it was though. If it's there next time do you want me to pick it up for you?

I thought with SE England tax £15 wasn't bad for a hard to find 60 year old scale model

Also in Brighton, I saw this nice model (tin plate maybe?) diner in a shop in North Laine.

And in Snoopers where I got the lamp post I saw this Dinky transporter which I didn't know existed

It was more money than I'm happy to pay, but now I'm interested..

Also saw this Dinky Austin Westminster, never seen one before and I'd like one as my dad had a real one when I was small and it was the first car I travelled in at over 100mph (on the Thanet Way).

I'm not sure as the label was partly obscured and badly written, but I think £53. I also think I should have bought the Westminster that I think was £8 as that's pretty cheap. However I don't know when I'll be in Brighton next though.

Ooh, that's a lovely piece of kit - and excellent memory! Like you say, I doubt you've paid over the odds for such an unusual accessory but if it's OK, I'll have to pass. Do you have a Jeep to go with it? They're on the more ubiquitous/affordable scale and are a neat little model. I've had to stop myself bidding on numerous ones, for this reason, though I keep an eye out for a conveyor belt version.

If you're at all feeling burdened with the purchase, then let's revisit in a couple of months, as my folks are bringing out many, many items with them, leaving them with criminally underweight baggage on the return flight, so I thought I'd do a for sale thread and get some stock exchanged. I may be able to fully/part swap!

I was kind of joking as the lamp post was only £2 (not sure I'd really pay £15) so if you want it that's the price. I'm happy to hold onto it until someone can take it to NZ for you, my sister lives in Auckland and will be over next year. However if you don't want it after all I'm really happy to keep it.

My funds can very easily stretch to £2! Certainly be very rude of me not to take it off your hands at that price. I'll be in touch!
