OMG SNO KAOS - pics or stories?

Not much here but it rained a bit before, Birmingham City Council haven’t gritted anything either so you’ve got snow on top of ice from the rain and it’s very slippy. Upside, turns out you can make a GT86 go sideways at 7mph. I now have an eBay saved search for paving slabs

I filled a Tesco delivery box with grit and pulled it behind me with a rope.

Two years later ..... great idea - thank you.

This still works, I cheated, used a Suziki quad though :-) - brilliant idea - 3/4 mile of hill gritted before the arse ground right out of the crate :-(

Tomorrow, the Dyane and I shall sally forth northward (with several likeminded eejits) to attempt the 2CVGB Raid Tan Hill.  It was snowed off last year...

How are we supposed to take the BBC weather girl seriously when she is giving a forecast for freezing wind and snow in a sleeveless summer dress? 🫤

Maybe because she is indoors and dressed appropriately? It’s freezing outside, I’m in shorts and a t shirt 🤪

Some gritting to do this morning before I can go anywhere in the van. What's the advice for driving an electric vehicle over snow and ice? Max regen and very gentle on and off both pedals as it's not as though you can choose a gear to be in?

Do you have to subscribe to 'snow mode'?

Mais oui (and hope the meter doesn't run out half way down the hill?)

Went early to fill up with diesel, aiming on going to Teesside to see great granddaughter.

Naturally, it started snowing as soon as I got back home.  Coming down with a vengeance now.   Trip postponed for a week.

Consulted Google maps as my satnav is somewhat iffy and it started off with a five mile excursion to the usual rout which is onto the A1232 for a couple of miles then down the A19, not a magical mystery tour of Sunderland.

Gritting done in 10 mins using my trusty Tesco box on a rope Spread-o-matic™. Time for a coffee whilst the grit does its thing then I'll head out.

It's really thumped down here at times over the last couple of days, and in between it's not really stopped for long.

I took these pics today after I'd shovelled enough to at least let a couple of cars out, and get to both the front and back doors.

We're in the Highlands (Speyside, so only just!), so it's not unusual really.  Always like to have at least one serviceable awd/4wd!

Fairly light dusting of snow here this morning:

However, it's been falling on and off all evening and everything's looking a bit white outside now...

Snowed a bit in Birmingham. Decided to do the most juvenile yet slowest handbrake turn in the Vectra at the bottom of my Mum's road.

As @Imhotep alluded to, Birmingham City Clowncil couldn't be arsed to grit the roads, so pin-precision driving was required. The Vectra monstered through the snow without even a suggestion of complaint.

Yet in Kidderminster:

I had wanted to go out in the van this morning but I've only got enough grit to clear the lane one more time and there's more snow forecast tonight. Looks like an early start tomorrow if I'm to make it into work.

I think you might need to update the Spread-o-matic with a snow plough blade for the leading edge!

Not exactly 2010 (or even 2013) levels of the white stuff, but a few inches anyway.

These were taken yesterday afternoon. It has snowed on and off all day. Tonight there is another amber warning in place. About 18" fall plus drifts to about 4 feet. My car is abandoned in a neighbours field about a mile away. When it stops snowing I will try the Disco or the Fergie for a play!

You should've stayed down in France!

Just the other side of the village is no better. A steady stream of snowploughs today with the road filling back up again about 10 minutes later!

Guess who's got to go to Perth tomorrow and Tuesday? Could be fun*

I didn't expect this either 'light snow showers' they said.
'Wednesday 9am MOT is not looking good' I said :-(

SLK is not quite as buried as @Saabnut's but there's no way anything other than a Quad is going to get up the hill before Thursday I reckon (4x4 maybe on Wednesday but RWD stuff? Nope)
