Do you think I should knock on this blokes door.... 8)

The Ambassador has been there at least since the early 90s. I know as I used pass his house on the way to cubs  (yes I knew my shite even at 10!). Despite that, it looks remarkably solid. The Marina has only turned up in the last couple of months, tax expired 2002. The Midget arrived I guess about 10 years ago.

The amount of years the Ambassador has been allowed to rot suggests this geezer is in it for keeps

That coupe is a stunner!, YOU MUST KNOCK!

Turn up in your MG if it's road worthy just so he can see that your into your shite as well.

Yer!

I was gonna say put a note through his door telling him about this site but sounds like he could be old-ish. Worth a try though.

That's the kind of collection that makes me think he might have worked for BL...

That Ambassador didn't live a long life on the road.

For christ sake will everyone fuck off. I'm not knocking on this old mental blokes door to attempt to shell out on a rusted shitty money pit of a car. Firstly- of all I have no money. Secondly- I have no space. Thirdly- I have no time. Plus, my Mrs will go fucking ape- seriously, she was in a 24hr mood when I bought the MG from Redsparrow. And anyway, I bet pikeys and mg enthusiasts have knocked already and obviously been told to do one, so it'll be a fucking waste of time too! But I guess you guys don't give a shit as you sit behind your keyboard encouraging stupid behaviour you know I will regret 'for a laugh'. Bollocks.

Well I suppose I could pop by Wednesday... What harm will it do

Random internet searching lead me to find my above pictures posted onto the Princess Ambassador forum. It turns out this very VDP was the last Ambassador ever built and a former Gaydon Museum piece! Apparently is was auctioned off about 8 years ago for around £2500  . Since then its not been taxed and sat on this blokes drive :?

Here it is in its former glory

So yesterday I posted a letter enquiring in to its future, explaining its 'importance' and offering to buy the car. Watch this space.... :D

Good luck! It would be an absolute crime if that Ambo went for scrap...

That's the one mate. Knowing where he lives I can guarantee that banger racers and scrap metal pikeys have banged on his door plenty of times asking about the car. Because of this I decided to post a decent well written letter explaining my enthusiasm for BL tin, my knowledge about his Ambassador and its significance, my concerns for the vehicles future and promising a loving home. That was 2 days ago and I await to hear a reply. The problem is I suspect he's one of those blokes who would rather have it rot than give it away to a good home.....

So, we'll assume it's now returning to nature then.

Random thread resurrection is one of the charming idiosyncrasies of this place.

Accept this...

You are the reincarnation of Pogweasle and I claim my £5 :)

Actually, things used to be fun with Pog about - I miss him :(

Wow, this thread. Well no, I left a note and a few days later received a phone call from a polite guy who said it wasn't for sale and was being moved to the safety of the rear of the property. It was moved, although Marina and Midget are still abandoned there.

I know of a 1971ish C10 Skyline GTX, Hakosuka GT-R clone, that was imported around ten years ago and has spent every day since, slowly decaying on the persons drive. And they will not sell it, under any circumstances, so says Ant Dat.

Apparently the car is not what it appears to be. So I assume they didn't know it was a Hako clone. Or it's a teabag.

I have pictures, somewhere.

I like this thread. Please, continue.

wasn't there a Rover 214 with something like 18 miles for sale a few months back?

Aye, a 213. One of the Doctor's I think.

There was also an auction recently with a couple of as new Triumph Dolomites in it.

Dig out the pics Edd.

I am not Edd. :D

It seems that my pisstaking of him has lead to some crossed wires! Very corroded and thin wires, natch, but crossed none the less.

I will look for the pics though. It's a car I would love to own.

I think I have a rust fetish, but currently have only experienced it in a leather paddle and nylon rope fashion.

If I were to own a knackered 70's Datto, that would be the equivalent of adorning a full gimp mask and having my scrotum inflated with water to ten times it's natural size.

I think.

I've met him, and he 100% IS Edd.

On me Edd, son!
