I seem, like most โ€˜ shiters , to acquire cars the rest of the motoring world regard with derision.

Picking this up in a couple of weeks from somewhere thatโ€™s pretty much in bloody Norwayโ€ฆ.IMG_2019.png.8d708c66a197bae4aa9eaf31bffb8665.png

Crumbs, an AMC Eagle (Sport?) Wagon. Didn't think there were any of those in the UK.

Permanent AWD and independent suspension plus family-friendly interior - arguably the first crossover SUV, some twenty years before the rest of the world caught up.

Very, very nice. Well bought.

Oof, an AMC Eagle? That's just awesome. I don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh

Itโ€™s actually a Concordโ€ฆ. 2 wheel drive, 4.2 straight 6, an engine equivalent to the old Vanguard 4 pots inasmuch as they were both used to power farm machinery!

AMC Concord

I like that a lot. AMC are kind of forgotten and misunderstood (mainly because no one could decide if they were part of Jeep or not and they didnt seem sure themselves)

The opposite. AMC owned Jeep rather than vice versa. It was eventually bought by Chrysler, who wanted Jeep and the spare production capacity. AMC was already building some Chrysler M-Body cars under contract to Chrysler, which needed more capacity quickly.

Didnt they also own Harley Davidson at some point? EDIT: No, that was AMF. Ignore me

Not that I know, but possibly.

ย

Notably AMC owned AM General, the maker of the HMMWV/Humvee. But the US government forced a sale as Renault took control of AMC, as they didn't want a crucial supplier to be majority-owned by a foreign government.

ย

AMC had a genuinely interesting history, and was very much linked to the assassination of Georges Besse (no, not George Best) as there was a lot of bitterness in France that a government-controlled firm was cutting French jobs while investing in an American subsidiary.

I know it 's not a pacer but it has Wayne's world vibes...

Wow!ย  Well bought...

I have watched that car come and go on the ads locally for a few years, and always wondered if it would end up on here!ย  Actually saw it in the metal at Brodie Car Show last year, and it is cool AF.ย ย

All the very best with the collection and homeward journey, it's not that far... honest!

Great buy.

Ep 1 of 6ย In case you need something to look at on your way there.

I looked at one years ago. Didnโ€™t buy it then - might even have been this ๐Ÿค—

My only advice would be to check the gearbox/transfer oil levels and diffs if at all possible before a long trip.

ย Not four wheel drive. Eagle was, Concord wasnโ€™t, which is fine by meโ€ฆ less to go wrongย

That's ace! I look forward to driving past it on the way to the gym. (Is the L-reg Range Rover classic anything to do with you? Any cool vehicles at that garage in Brigg I assume are yours ๐Ÿ˜‚)

The black Cadillac, the white Quantum, and the X type estate! All for saleโ€ฆ๐Ÿ˜

Not the Range Roverโ€ฆ I come out in hives thinking about those of that ilk that Iโ€™ve ownedโ€ฆ

There was zero chance of me guessing it was one of these from the fairly ambiguous thread title - I love these, and there's something about AMCs in general I like. They just seemed a bit un-American in a way, or at least going their own way.ย

Top work.ย

Oh wow. That is all kinds of awesome. The Eagle was the lifted 4x4 version IIRC?
