They are fair large ain't they. Despite doing many many miles in a lwb high top 400 i've only really just noticed the fact.

Another one I found whilst looking for something else. Alongside RM 89, the Victoria garage showbus.

I posted these on a spotted thread 2 years ago but came across them again whilst looking for something else. (Yes some will be in Australian mode).

I've always thought that the XUD powered LDV Pilot would make a great engine and box donor for a Marina or MGB due to being RWD.

The crew cab says "can recover a family of 5" but the GVW says "smart cars only"

Recovery vehicles are* exempt from all plating, towing and licensing rules/regulations. :-)

Besides, if you want to keep it legal you could just attach The Hindenburg  to the towball. That would lighten the rear axle.
I'm sure that would end well.

Angle of that tackle box makes the poor thing look bent already

That's what it is. My eye was drawn to something that looked fucked though I then saw the truck stacks and forgave all its sins. I think if you also fitted a pull chain air horn those pesky traffic cops would have no argument and prosecution could be avoided.

Ideal vehicle for a builder working in central London pal! 😁

Shame everyone who bought one appears to have binned off the boxes. They were classic street furniture in the 80s.

I would love a Sherpa for work. No doubt some building site or London commuter twat would put a fat dent into it but otherwise I reckon it would be mega.

I could tell my boss (politely!) to stick his awful Citroen-with-a-Toyota-badge-Stellantis-shite up his arse and I could bimble around in some of 1980s Great Britain's best (world's best)!

Fairly sure the emissions would prevent it being allowed on site wouldn’t it?

No bad thing though if it saves a Sherpa from being shafted!

Trust me you'd be begging for it back after 10 miles. A guy I worked with in the 90’s wore ear defenders driving his BR one!

Meet Trundle, the LDV Convoy:

In case the writing is too small for some of the older eyes here, it says:

"Hi, I'm Trundle the LDV

I am over 20 years old and I really struggle hills.

I'm really sorry. Please bear with me

I'd really like a Turbo, but I think that would probably cost more than I'm worth..."

Was a young lass driving it.

I've noticed that these LDVs have become the new 'hippy mobile' to what VW campervans in the 70s to the 90s were. There is an LDV bus (I posted earlier in this thread) that also occasionally lives around here, it appears to take some young hippy-type band on tours.
