You think you're autoshite? Think again...

All I can say is wow, just wow! Thats a proper, proper workshop of an old boy whos been at it for a lifetime... just like the one at my grandfathers house!

I dont envy you having to sort that lot out, but I suspect it's the small and obscure bits that'll be worth the most to the right collectors!

Is it wrong to think that if the lady is still alive one should recreate that image?

For some reason I’ve come over with an insatiable urge to charter a coach.

Fuck me, did he hate you? 🤣

I guess it a bit of an honour that he trusted you with sorting it, but man that's gonna take some hours!

Image #2 would make an incredibly frustrating AS jigsaw?

Old boy I worked for as a teenager had a rather large workshop that ended up full of parts/spares/tools like that one.  Literally tons of gear dating from the early 1960s - mostly decent as he'd not hoard true shite. He died in 2005 after a long term of dementia and my dad told me that the clearance took months, started carefully but got more brutal as the end date for vacating the workshop loomed. Thankfully, I lived 400 miles away or else I know where a lot of it would have ended up ....

This is one of the main reasons I want to own as little stuff as possible. Having to sort through that is a nightmare, and I don't want to do that to my friends and family

That’s absolutely incredible! So much stuff! Your going to be very busy sorting that lot I suspect.

Trouble is with collections like that, there’s just soooo much you forget what you’ve got or where it is, so in the end it just never gets reused.
A stand at Beaulieu would probably be a good shout to re home at least some. Obviously if you can identify what the parts are from the owners clubs might be worth contacting too. Maybe it’ll save it from just going for scrap?

Actually that's what this thread is for. I was planning on posting pictures of unidentified stuff and inviting guesses/dibs.

Start with this picture, I think that's a uhf aircraft radio?

That's really encouraging me to sort some of my own stuff out.  I have stupid stuff like coloured polish (I can see some in that picture) which I could have taken to shitefest and given to someone who at least has a car the right colour.

If you want help, a rough idea of where you are might let us see if anyone is close enough.

The car at the top is fab.

Clearly he was a sad loss for you.

Ye gads, I've done a few garage clearances but I wouldn't know where to start with that.

Sorry for your loss man.

That's an R-1155 radio receiver, as fitted to most British bomber/transport aircraft in the 40s and 50s:

Not sure on the value of that one as it looks pretty distressed and is missing the faceplate and most of its controls. I'll do some research (ie, consult a friend who deals in this kind of stuff) as I may be able to give it a home. Have you any more photos please?

Reminds me of my Grandad’s shed, everything you could possibly need.

Thankfully he is still with us at 87 and is sorting it out while he still can, which essentially involves him giving me and a few other likeminded relatives all the stuff now for us to fill up our sheds.

P.S. Is the calendar up for grabs? Asking for a friend, obvs.

I don't know how to tell you this, but it's *just a photo* of boobs.

Selling it?  You could probably make a decent museum exhibit out of all that!

As for that Gazelle estate, that HAS to be restored, that is rare as hen's teeth.

I think a roffle is needed on that.
