Excellent purchase. And one of my favourite alloy wheels of ever 👌

Expand

Those wheels are brilliant they remind me of the XJ220.  I am jealous of this purchase, I had a v8 XJR and that was mental but I think these are bit hardier.

Your MPG is better with the supercharger, than the 4.0 Sovereign I used to have that was only doing 21.5 mpg.

Back when I was selling Citroens the husband of one of our customers had a nearly new XJR and I persuaded him to take me out in it. I loved it but my overwhelming memory is the belts squealing when he floored it.

This one makes a nice whine under load. Like a grown up Mini Cooper S.

Only booted it on LPG and was quick. Can't wait til I have a decent day and at least 1/3 tank of unleaded.

Outstanding. Best colour for them as well, and yes, those XJ220ish wheels suit it magnificently.

I mustard mitt I've been half tempted to bag one of these since they're so bleddy cheap at the moment but I thought I'd be better off preserving what little sanity I have left.

It only got as far as #1 before breaking traction at idle on LPG...

so now the collection is coming to me.

You need a set of cross climates on there before Sierraman dies.

Great purchase...... I got mine as a 'gotta own for a bit' purchase and it's still sat outside 8yrs later. Just lovely things.

Only issue apart from standard service and consumables was a snapped shock after hitting the mother of all potholes in Belgium......

Enjoy....... They are just fantastic.

I have a cunning plan...

Morrisons do a More card that gives you points for every litre of fuel bought ...

So 1000L of LPG to get a fiver...

Should have £10 worth of vouchers by next week🤣

For info, LPG is currently £0.899/L at Morrisons, so that £5 voucher needs a spend of £899.

Currently that looks to be about 4400 miles in the Jaaaag.

BARGAIN. (Mild sarcasm)

If I went to Asda for the LPG, at their price of £0.797/L it would cost me £797, so a £93 saving if the £5 Morrisons voucher is taken into consideration..

Looking at it on a cost per mile basis,

Morrisons for  4400miles is £899, or £0.20 a mile.

Asda is 4400 miles for £797, or £0.18 a mile

Enough to cover an oil service and a set of spark plugs every 5k.

I got a wheen of invoices with the car, dating from 2018 to present..

I did what you should never do...

Screenshot_20231204-2204122.thumb.png.dc48b61de5fdaf215f3e224b77c07fa7.png

So that averages out to £1096 in maintenance per year over the last 6 years. (This figure does not include the £1600 worth of LPG installation)

Scary stuff!

Time to put some context on the bald figures

The old girl has not had an easy time of it since 2018. The LPG kit was fitted in 2019 and it's easy to see why..

Screenshot_20231204-2207112.thumb.png.88b744ab866707add992e8fa28a37a15.png

I make that out to be 90,626 miles in 6years.

That means a not entirely unreasonable £0.07 per mile in costs.

The logic re the £1600 spend on the LPG comes into sharp focus when you look at the fuel costs.

Assuming 23mpg long term average, and a fuel price of 1.499/L

90626 miles needs 3,940 Gallons (17,911L) for a cost of £26,848...

Assuming 20mpg on LPG, and a fuel price of 0.899/L

90626 miles needs 4531 Gallons (20,598L) for a cost of £18,518..

That means the LPG install + fuel + maintenance cost a total of £26,695.

Effectively, that's the running costs for free.

Hopefully it remains to be free to run🤣

That's the finest purchase justifying man maths I've seen in a very long time.
