Ah that’d be amazing thank you

I’ve no idea why he’s known as Tarquin, before my time in 2cvgb. @chaseracer will know.

Said goodbye to the E39 on Monday
i had a text from the PO who had my MX5 in the swap and he said he really misses it, he was a little saddened to find out it now lived in Yorkshire but I’ll give him his due he must have really missed it because him and his partner made the trip up and I got to be briefly reunited with my MX5
IMG_6485.jpeg.89c655152c1cc0a2124a1bff584c07f5.jpeg
the absolute madman drove the E39 all the way back to Portsmouth at 11pm and drove well into the AMs with a dodgy alternator and 3 brand new batteries from Halfords that I was told were returned straight after the trip all flat as a pancake

anyway, flash forward to Wednesday and I get a text from a good friend of mine who told me he wanted to sell his rather large collection of classics,  speaking to him I agreed I’d be interested in his Citroën 2cv that I’ve now payed for with the E39 money and agreed to pick up towards the end of the month because as of next week I’ll be away in Tokyo until the 22nd

my first 2cv, to say I’m excited is an understatement
unfortunately he too lives in Portsmouth so it’ll be a long drive back, at least it’ll be an excuse to see my family

I may be able to do this at least up to Northwich if needed and you don’t mind a pushbike being thrown in the back? Is it urgent?

Same here my BiL had a unit full of bits in Heywood Lancs.

Tarquin predates even Chaseracer I think! I was introduced to him as Tarquin in 1997. Apparently the name was given to him because someone didn't think his actual name was a appropriate. There was a lot of drinking in those days...

Yup, but the car's in Seaford. 1st turn left at the top of the hill. Don't recall seeing the car tho.

Some top spotting there - I was in Tokyo last year and really enjoyed it, plus the exchange rate made it very favourable!

It was definitely a bit of a shock, the ability to get a bottle of water from any on street vending machine for 60p was amazing, the mini earthquake was mildly terrifying though

That white dusty BMW E38 in the garage is a super rare stretched L7, what a great spot!

I definitely have to visit Japan at some point. Everyone I know who's been loved it, unsurprisingly.

I’m now searching for an imported Toyota Crown Taxi 😮‍💨😂

I was there in 2018 with my then 14 year old son. It was amazing! I’ve seen the exchange rate is very nice now.

After arriving at Heathrow yesterday I took the opportunity whist I was down south to pick up the 2CV

obligatory pez station shot at what used to be my favourite petrol station when I lived in Portsmouth, £35 of super brimmed it

6 hours of cruising at 55/60 and we’re home, it didn’t miss a beat and after 20 minutes or so I got used to and quite enjoyed the push pull gear change

it’s definitely charming and i didn’t even have to stop for fuel

lots of yummy fuel! is there  still a fair bit left?

was always amazed by my teachers one in primary school. used to pull the seats out and put them on the grass!

So funnily enough I went back out in it about an hour ago and it conked out as I left my road so it was a miracle I made it home, thankfully I only live 3 minutes from a petrol station so a Jerry can was got and I was back up and running

On every single corner, it feels like it’s about to fall over but somehow doesn’t it’s a very odd sensation

Only experienced that odd sensation once, when I was driven around Kirkistown race circuit in the dark by a lunatic 2CV owner who was a fellow marshall at the circuit.

It was bloody terrifying.

Outstanding purchase.  2CVs are awesome. Miss having mine on the road very much!

46mpg would be ok, 250miles on a full tank with a litre left, but I’ve run out at 200 too.

Like this one I saw at a show in Tokyo a couple of years ago. Fully restored from a basket case by Toyota apprentices.IMG_5118.jpeg.05b222e5b097c4d8315e19f838b2370d.jpegIMG_5113.jpeg.fb568f2310d5f3d5a4dd905720853c6f.jpeg
