It does look like that but I presume the engine is where you’d expect , so it shouldn’t.

For a couple of years there used to be an E36 3-Series painted up as Thunderbird 2, parked up in Davenham, Cheshire. It looked to me like it had done a charity rally then come back and continued being used for a while. 
Unfortunately I can't find it now either on google images or in historic versions of streetview

Converted in the Ukraine and popular in Russia, probably not so much at the moment but, I could see the American market being interested.
