Ebay Tat Volume 2 - Sadly deceased.

I bought this vehicle to use for my scuba diving...

Sounds like this dunderhead wanted to use his Niva as some kind of sub-aquatic vehicle...

...Unfortunately it isn't quite big enough!

Ah, I see now. I take it back. He wanted to fill it with water and swim around inside.

Yeah - you'd want something with a bit more depth - Multipla or Espace perhaps?

Not ebay, but this is up at an auction near me in the morning.

I kinda believe the mileage. It's ex-wedding, the tyres are flat, the paint on the roof is cracked and bare in places, the leather has been connolised in the wrong colour but the seats look low mileage. Chrome is fooked, but it would be a seriously cool Autoshitey Roller. It looks solid.

Additional information is that it has also had a rear nearside suspension cylinder replaced, cost £165.00. Not sure when, but about 18 months ago

£165 to replace a sphere? I'd expect all five of them to be changed for that money...

The suspension cylinder is the unit the sphere screws into. which is made of some sort of impurity-ridden alloy which tends to develop catastrophic leakage without warning.

'88 Opel Corsa. The seats seem to be the same colour as the outside?

Can be started and driven but no brakes.

What a fucking bell-end - you're buying what's in the second photo.

I've heard Austins had electrical issues, that's a hell of a lot of "wiring"...

It can only imagine that its some sort of S/A import (did they do Mk1 Escort Utes?) into Malta at some point then to here in '10, or a very, very nice homebrew.

Either way, Im massively tempted.....

You need to buy that! First job would be to ditch those nasty mirrors though.

Posted

Yeah, those mirrors are gopping. I'd delete the N/S one and put the one from escRot on there (along with the engine, box and front brakes)

I shouldn't even be considering it really, I don't have the money to hand, but I do (as of today) have the space in the yard.

Its one way to have a mk1 escort that stands out on the showfield.

Soz to say it but those early 80s are hateful things. One of the most unreliable cars I've ever owned and that's no mean feat I can assure you.

Dutton Sierra, which manages to be even uglier than usual. The bonus Scim over the road is actually road legal, in that part of the world.

Crikey! A couple of rough old Escorts? Either Peter Stringfellow's in town, or the aliens are planting them in dusty barns across Central Scotland. It's a thought too horrible and nasty to contemplate, and there isn't enough mind bleach in the universe. I'd have a pint with the aliens tho'...

Slightly crap photos and a short test, but got to be worth £250?

If you want my advice: don't buy a Tesco Value mouse. However a miserable tightwad you are (and I am), just don't.

Volvo 740, manual/overdrive diesel. Miserably, hopelessly small pic, but might be worth a punt.

^The Proton's got its' own thread, bud!

Bugger me sideways, here's another. Slightly more expensive at £400 but looks in better nick and has a long test.

I like those. I had a 940 estate with the same engine / gearbox combo and it was brilliant - used it to drive down to central France to collect all my crap from our holiday house when my parents sold it, then down to their place in the Alps to pick up the family boat that they were no longer using, then a mad dash up to Calais to catch the ferry after getting stuck in the mother of all traffic jams in Lyon - never missed a beat, despite having well over 200K on the clock, and averaged 40mpg. Sold it on for a tidy profit, too.
