Plus these things are done on an exchange basis, double farts!!! I had another spare caliper in the shed but it is n/s/f. I'll have to call tomorrow and plead with them else £40 + VAT surcharge goes down the toilet.

Moonbase Alpha!! :D

Being a bit on the slow side I did wonder what "Space 1999" had to do with Alfas.

Dawned eventually.

Bugger with the calliper. I'm half expecting mine to go the same way next week.

Had a call this morning to go and assist my eldest with (yet another) puncture on her C3, only had it a week.

Took the tyre to blow it up as we couldn't see anything wrong with it.

Blew it up in my boot then checked my own tyres. Went to close the boot and could feel and hear the air escaping from a cut halfway across the sidewall.

Went home and was on my way to tell her (she lives in the next street), spoke to a neighbour and a policeman came up and asked if we had seen any cars with flat tyres

Showed him Annika's and he said there had been at least eight in her street alone.

We went to see her and take her details. While doing so there were radio reports coming in adding to the reported incidents every couple of minutes.

I had the tyre removed and a replacement fitted and arranged for the police to collect the damaged tyre as eventual forensic evidence despite being a rubbish Nexus tyre.

As I put the new tyre/wheel in her boot one of her neighbours who had had her tyres slashed told me that there had been over a hundred cars done locally.

Brainless twats that will have cost car owners into the thousands of pounds collectively. There were five cars in Tyrespot waiting to be done while I was there and they have been rushed off their feet all day.

Bloody hell.... Hope nobody thinks to carry on the trend down here, mine aren't cheap. Last retail quote I got was £225 a corner... +Vat! Mind, they are 10 ply thornproof ones... if they can slash them, they'd be knackered!

Wages. Still don't have them. Apparently 'they're there' according to the bank but but they're not showing up on my accounts summary. Cut things a bit close this month by paying for a bit of work to sort advisories out on the C4 (rear tyres and brake pads \ discs more or less muntered) and sorting a holiday out to the LMC.

However, with bills going out next week and some bills to pay before then, I want some kind of assurance that my wage has gone in before I make a tit of myself trying to withdraw money and going more overdrawn. This situation is compounded by the fact that several people owe me money and are coming up with every excuse in the book to get out of giving it me back. Sadly, I'm past giving a fuck - one person in particular is really pissing me off over this and I know he could pay me back. This will decide whether or not I do the Retro Show tomorrow, I want to do it but if I don't have the money it ain't happening, so I might as well be at work earning.. I really enjoy my job  but there just isn't any extra cover going at the moment. Been offered some work in a inbound c**l c****e during the week but I'm not sure if I could handle it after the horrors of last year. Plus that would be going backwards rather than forwards, despite being a temporary means to an end.

Been doing the sums and my storage costs are fucking ridiculous. Some shite may well have to go. I will also look at some larger money things I can sell.

So far I've got:

4 x 4x100 Black Racing 14 x 6" minilite wheels - FWD offset and really light, two have good tyres - £200

Brand new rechromed Amazon bumper centre section - £50

Various 1:43 Minichamps Mercedes touring cars - between £20 and £30 depending on livery

1:43 Norev KB Isuzu Piazza Irmscher (Red) - £25

1:43 Norev Isuzu Asso Di Fiori - no sleeve but otherwise complete - £20.

If anyone's interested, get in touch via the normal channels.

Does anyone know the fate of the Mk2 Astra at the abandoned garage in Derbyshire? Apparently it's been sold on. Fucksticks.

Colleague at work had 3tyres slashed on her transit parked in front of her house lady month. Dad went though a stage of getting a puncture just about every time he left his car at long stay Bristol airport. Every time the tyre centre extracted a long screw from the tread.

I would love to get my hands round the throats of these cretinous twats, would I be happy to do time for it? No, but I would have to be clever to not get caught!!

Have been having a few twinges in one of my teeth for a while now. On Sunday I actually woke with a pain.

Going through the week, driving back to hotel I get this almighty pain in my gum that nearly made me pass out. This continued now and then through the week until I had to drive home last night and I get the biggest pain I've ever experienced. It took 6 hours to drive home completely and was absolutely exhausted after it. I have an emergency appointment booked for tomorrow morning and I can't wait. No pain killer or anything works, and the best temporary cure is to ignore it and it fades away.

abcess alert !

Posted

There's no swelling though - it's basically on a tooth that was filled previously by a rough dentist who didn't do a very good job. The stinging is lower down and I can now see the tooth is affected (it's discoloured).

Plus, I had another 'attack' today and it's been fine ever since, and exactly the same dull, throbbing pain I had before I had the dentist do it. I can't take time off work with an abcess ffs!!!

Oil of cloves. Worked for me while I was away from civilization... Pongs a bit, and stains too, but a good herbal remedy. Cheaper than Syndol too.

+1 on the oil of cloves, tastes nasty, but v soothing.

I had an abcess from my last wisdom tooth, went to the dentist, had to take a week's antibiotics before they could pull the tooth, booked that for a Friday afternoon: time off work in total - half-hour for the first appt/diagnosis, including travel time, couple hours Fri pm, back to work (sore and taking ABs still) on the Monday.

I've been using orajel which is the same as Charlie, your whole mouth goes numb in seconds. Great!

How will they know it's an access or just a bad tooth? Isn't it an xray?

Also peroxyl which is a hardcore mouthwash with hydrogen peroxide in.

if its a bottom tooth; try pushing on your jaw, from underneath, near the tooth

if you scream in agony then its an abcess

I mentioned in another thread that I have a new shite-rescue mission going on. I'd love to write a thread about it, copiously illustrated with photos, but I'm having a fight on my hands with the photo-sharing site I use (and have done for years). For no apparent reason it has taken to failing to upload from my computer's albums. Shall I write the thread anyway? I have one (not very good) pic of the vehicle in question, I just can't give you updates.

I have a skip, only a small one but still silly expensive, to take away various detritus I cannot find time to deal with just now, Imagine my delight to find a big suitcase of crap and a large amount of roofing felt topping a pile of various shit taking up half of its capacity. No need to go all Victor Meldrew, I is packing OMG big brother nazi snooper cctv. I excitedly scan for the culprit, plotting how I shall mess up their day with threats of violence and general abuse.

Only to find it's been this old bat.

I can't kick off with an old lady can I? I could try but I'd only wind up asking her politely, apologetically even, to remove her stuff.

Fuck it, I'll say nothing and dump it on the rotten old cunts porch.

Posted

She might be an old lady Des, but she can still be a pain in the ass. Move it and dump it back with her. Age isn't an excuse to behave like a git (I refer you to several of my crotchety old bastard neighbours!)

Posted

I agree, go and give the old bag her shit back!

Posted

Dump the stuff up against her front door, add some of yours for good effect.

Few years back I might have been blocked into my drive by some mouth breathers dropping off kids for school, as I watched the parent scoofed a load a maccy d wrappers etc and other such crap out onto the verge outside my house and then drove off. Curiosity may have gotten the better of me and I might have followed at a discrete distance until the perp arrived at home. Several nights later on bin night imagine my amusement at finding the perps wheels bin emptied all over their immaculately presented front garden and a soiled nappy presented shit side down on the perps windscreen.

Now that is victor meldrew, I mean they honestly to this day have no idea why, probably!

Posted

Ask her if she wants to go halves on the cost of the skip. :)

Posted

I'd certainly be having a word with the old bag, if for no other reason than once some folk have sussed out they can get away with something, they'll just keep doing it.

A firm but civil word now might prevent things from getting to the stage where you want to petrol bomb the old whoor's house in three months time?

Perhaps go three stages further. Report her for fly tipping, making certain there is evidence with her name and address in the case.... then show the Council the pics you have......
