SHITBAGS :x

Went to my garage today and noticed it was missing its padlock. Upon further investigation I noticed a set of my alloys had gone missing :x

Whilst digging through the pile of crap that belongs to the lad who is letting me the garage I noticed the padlock had been thrown on top of the crap pile, it appears to have been cut through with bolt cutters or some such tool.

I got speaking to a few of the neighbours and apparently about 2 months previous there had been some trouble around this normally posh and very quiet area of the neighbourhood, other garages had been attacked and stuff taken. Thankfully no damage was done to the cars and nothing else was taken from my pile. They didnt get into the other garage thankfully.

Not too bothered about the alloys but its the principle of it.

Rootes - I'm really sorry to hear about your cat passing away. Its not nice. My thoughts are with you mate :(

Decided to quickly do a partial water change in the aquarium, normally takes ten minutes as the water is conditioned and up to temperature, swap pump & filter, clean them at leisure, have a 'vacuum cleaner' to suck the crap out and a long hose to run it into the garden.

All was going swimmingly, then got a bit too much so.

I had spilled a small amount of water on an old towel spread in front of the aquarium and could feel it getting through my trouser knees as I concentrated on removing the mulm from the gravel with the 'vacuum cleaner'.

Seemed to be getting excessively wet so looked behind me to discover that the hose was unplugged from the cleaner and the kitchen dining room flooded. Naturally it was all running under the freezer, benches, cooker and washing machine .

Ten minute job turns into a three hour one, all other jobs cancelled :(

German and Swedish ebay site. Wanted a pair of front shockers for an Audi 100, they had some at £39, which seemed reasonable. Before 1 bought them, I rang them to check on freight cost to Jersey, and try and get the VAT knocked off [no VAT over here] after explaining why I was ringing to at least 4 mouth breathers, apparently the ones clearly advertised as fitting a 1992 Audi 100, won't fit MY Audi 100, because it's a "sports". Bollocks is it, it's a boggo 100 Avant 2.3 quattro, which according the their own fitment table, these shockers fit. They insist they won't fit, and want £59 for the one shocker they have in stock, in spite of their "buy it now" bit saying they have 24 in stock...........

Thieving, lieing bastards.

OK, before I start, let me say 10 days not smoking. That's not the grump. These are:

1. HELLO heartburn. Ow.

2. Fucking inconsiderate wankers who seem to think that the air/water area on the forecourt is a parking bay. Yes, I know the forecourt doesn't have any other parking. That's because it's part of fucking Tesco with a 300 space car park within 10 metres you lazy arsehole, go and sit and read your newspaper in there (BEEP BEEP).

3. Aggressive (im)patients who start off by being rude and arrogant from the first communication. Try being a LITTLE politer and the NHS person on the end of the e-mail MIGHT be a little bit more helpful instead of thinking "Bollocks to that, I'm now way too pissed off with you to deal with this today, you can fucking wait until tomorrow for a response (which will still be within 24 hours, so screw you)." At least let us screw it up before you start being a cunt.

My language seems to have gone downhill a bit.

I was sat on the floor and just picked Megan up to sit her on the potty and *pop* something went in my back, a feeling like I'd imagine being stabbed is like (probably nothing like it, but there you are). Now I don't know where to get. My back really hurts (in waves) and my leg is flicking between electric shocks and dead leg.

And Megan expects to fed, watered, taken to the toilet and entertained.

Feck feck feck.

back box just fell off the bluebird...MOT due in a 6 weeks and don't really want to spend out on a new exhaust now not knowing what else it may need. :x

That sounds similar to what I did carting a trolley jack around recently. It was horrible. No position was comfortable. To be honest, keeping moving is probably the best thing. Mine got much worse if I tried sitting down for any length of time. Just be very wary of lifting. I spent several days bending at the knees like I was lifting a box of drum shoes even if it was just to pick up a tissue.

Caffiend - I'd never know you'd recently quit smoking! :P Good luck with it. Don't let the public screw your resolve!

Same thing happened to me today. Just went to the bathroom this morning to brush my teeth, reached over for me toothbrush & my back went. Last time that happened I had to go to a Sports Physiotherapist but thankfully it appears to have cleared up today already.

Bolsover parkers. Seriously, I follow an Focus estate and a high-top Transit into the main car park and they both pull over on to the double yellow lines in front of me making it very difficult to get past and into the actual car park. They both looked very surprised and not a little sheepish when I leaned on the horn all the way past them at about 2mph. Wankers.

I found out today that Devonshire Homes - now forever known as 'the bastards' - have bought the field behind my house and there will be a 'development of executive housing within 3 years'. So that will be nice, backing onto a building site and then a load of curtian twitching daily mail readers. SO I am bidding my fairwells to this view.

img0170w.jpg

Now for the plans on how to stop it, I have considered blowing the lot up when it arrives, but that would probably make a terrible mess or covering the field in a vast array of tatty motor vehicles. Other suggestions have been filling all foundations that they dig with custard and digging a mine underneath so they cannot build due to subsidence.

So far my favourite idea is to send this MS paint special to the local news paper depicting endangered animals, radio active waste and historical monuments sprinkled liberally across the field and see if the council fall for it and withdraw all planning permission while they search for mutant Pandas.

In addition I needed to return a parcel today to Amazon so arranged for Yodel to come and pick it up. In the form at the bottom it had a field 'if you would like to leave your parcel in a safe place, please tell us here'. I wrote 'in the red, stripped out, Lancia Y10 outside the front door. It is unlocked, you will find the parcel under some newspaper.'

I get backto find a 'sorry we missed you' note through the door. Thanks guys, fucking top job that.

^Would that not be greenbelt? If so, surely planning pernmission would be pretty difficult to come by? Then again, grease the right palms........

In other grumps, I'm getting a bit fed up with the fact that I can't seem to shift any of my cars, especially the 156. My insurance on the Volvo expires next week, and I could do with a bit of cash coming in to soften the blow. Not a single phone call on the Alfa, and no serious interest on the 480. I think I might take some better (ie clean) photos of the Volvo and stick it on carandclassic. Might also have to bite the bullet and stick the Alfa back on Autotrader. REALLY don't want to have to go to ebay or gumtree.

Turned up at work in the usual fashion only to discover that, after I'd been there for an hour, I had put in for an holiday today and completely forgotten about it.

Agreed to remain and take tomorrow off instead.

Then lost my glasses. Not unusual but they generally show up after hiding for an hour but no sign of them all day and I am somewhat hopeless without them :(

Fortunately have another pair at home but this is the last of six pair, must get myself to Specsavers

Ref: Building in the field behind your house. Every night, sneak out and fill the fuel and oil filters on the heavy plant that's left on site, with fine sand. That'll slow things down a bit. Or indeed swap hydraulic hoses about, so "down is up" etc.... cue incorrect actions and H&S visits.... Or indeed make certain Time Team come to visit, and find a rare monument to a little known God etc.....

Jesus wept, that Sierra thread should come with a content warning.

You could always chain yourself to the... er... grass? I realised as I thought this that there is no tree in that field. Alternatively, oppose every planning application and tweak they make to make their lives as difficult and costly as possible.

Actually the simplest way would be to get some big f.o caravans, a few Transits with chevrons on the bottom of the doors, cut the bottom half of your hair and then just start nicking everything in site.

If the developers don't back off play the human rights/racism card and crap in your neighbour's garden.

Really hope you don't end up with another Bovis three-story gardenless terraced montrosity, and I fail to understand why they can't even be arsed to source local bricks to at least try to blend in. Here in Yorkshire their orange monstrosities stick out like a sore thumb against the local sandstone  Although I will never condone the Greenpeaces due to their intimidation/harassment "direct action" or whatever you call it - they did have a great idea to stop unwanted construction projects: if say you and 100 other villagers all buy one square foot of land to be purchased by the developer then it makes the legal process biblically slow. They're doing it at a field in the way of Heathrow runway #3 as we speak.

Or just do what that dude did in the Dale Farm documentary and just run around swearing like a loon with your shotgun...

It's pretty much inevitable at this point. It's part of the towns 'eastern extension' that has been set in motion for a year or two.

Where I live is a little area about 1.5 miles away from the rest of the town in a section of approximately 120 houses with a nice community feel. The council have now taken it upon themselves to surround this entire area with a fuck off massive housing estate of 'executive and affordable housing' totalling a good couple thousand houses with no plans to upgrade the main infrastructure. Is it just me or do this new estates seem to be turning into the slums of tomorrow?

It seems that this field will be one of the first to go, but as long as I'm here I won't make it easy.

Indeed. Greenbelt means sweet FA as far as housing developments go, as anyone who has lived in or near Stevenage for the past 20 years will tell you. In that case, local residents kicked up the mother of all fusses over it (my friend in Hong Kong sent me a clipping from his local paper which detailed their complaints!) but the building went ahead anyway. And that was to the tune of 10,000 houses. I feel truly sorry for you.

Ebay:

On Tuesday 10 July 2012, the maximum final value fee for private sellers will increase from £40 to £75. This new final value fee cap will only impact listings with a sale price above £400.

This change applies to private sellers and will only affect items which are listed from 10 July 2012 onwards.

I forgot to post this yesterday but whilst walking around a car show yesterday i was looking at some trade stands and i walked past a large family with two big alsatian dogs, one of the dogs came up to me as i past it then before i knew it i bloody went for me!, the bastard managed to get a bite of my arm which startled me some what!.

The young girl holding it couldn't control it so her dad (I guess) grabbed the lead and pulled him back away from me, I was a bit shocked at this point but the bloke said sorry and smacked the dog before saying to his wife that the dog was after the 7up can i was holding.

It wasn't for a few minutes afterwards i thought about how bad that could have been, luckily it didn't draw blood, just took some skin off but if i was a young child he'd done it do then dog would have take the child's face off, I wish i had kicked off about it now as the dog should have been on a muzzle but i was a bit bit stunned, even the people i was with was shocked.

I had some really shit luck this weekend. :(

That's fucking awful man, especially after everything else you've got going on. If people can't control their dogs then they should either have them trained (by way of a court ruling with massive penalties, within a certain period) or taken away by the RSPCA.

Some of the signage on the East Lancs is totally gash, particularly where they've reduced the speed limits.

If it's any consolation I was banned for speeding on the East Lancs back in '88. According to the statement by the WPC in the unmarked GMP Capri she'd "paced me driving a high powered, fuel injected Ford Escort XR3i at between 112 and 118mph for a distance of over half a mile". My first driving ban!
