I'm as bad if not worse.  I had dozens of CEF bulbs free from British Gas when I bought my fridge freezer (from the Electric Board) and still have a load of them.  If I want a bulb, mostly LEDs now, I usually get at least half a dozen.

Yes, presumably a conrod will escape and take the offending heat shield out with it on the way?

Not even 24 hours into 2025 yet and every event/trip that was planned involving other people looks to not be happening - people deciding to go do other things instead, badly-timed holiday bookings and what I'm reasonably sure but can't confirm yet for obvious reasons is a friend of mine being in the early stages of pregnancy. No judgement on any of the people involved, naturally, just a little bit disappointing that's all!

2025 is either the year of me finding new people to do things with or the year of doing it all by myself, I think!

Went over to near Skipton for new year. It absolutely tipped it down on New Years night. Seems the Merc was parked at the exact right angle for the interior leak to surface again. 

Got in it to drive home the following afternoon and the passenger footwell was soaked through. 

Not so much of an issue, but this morning we had a snap freeze at around 5-6am, which meant that, with the moisture all the glass was frozen inside and out. Took a good 20 mins of idling this morning to get it into a state where I could safely drive it. Doors were frozen shut, locks frozen solid. Thankfully the boot lock worked and triggers the central locking, so I could get into it at least. I hate winter.

Survived my op for kidney removal today. Felt fine since recovery, want to get up & move for exercise, as I know they like to get you moving quickly. "Sorry, we only have 4 covering the whole ward, can't risk patients having a low BP wobbly".

FFS it's 8pm and there's at least 8 of them milling around!

Great news that you're feeling fine after the op mate 👍.

When I had mine done there were a couple of physical therapy nurses that had me mooching around the wards, up and down the stairs etc. Honestly, one of them was mid 20's, fit as fuck and looked like she'd been poured into her uniform, I would have walked bloody miles following her lovely arse around! Definitely not good for you when a catheter is still in.

Hope the recovery goes well for you.

Just don't do anything, it's far easier.  I've learned now that if I plan something in advance with anyone, they will then go and find something else to do that clashes with it, because they don't actually like me or want to do anything with me but don't want to say it.

I read a lot of your posts and feel like we'd get along well.

I'd arrange a pint or even a virtual meet-up but I know something else will come up, as that's my experience my whole bloody life too!

take it easy , I felt like a balloon afterwards  and could not move , their again they had left mine a bit late and the resultant scars were a bit bigger as a result , enjoy the morphine pump if you have one , and make sure all the post op care is sorted before you leave the hospital , I spent a day trying to book staple removal as no one had sorted it , ended up just telling the local Dr's I could not get a booking , then a local nurse contacted me to do the job , some 40 staples to come out in one sitting instead of two , had to be done with an extractor  that I was given ....  and if you are doing the daily anti clotting injections , just stab with the needle rather than push , it goes in easier ...  👍

My  ward was  a scream 

one chap falling asleep and losing his false teeth under his bed all the time .

one pissed off bloke in the corner going awol all the time as he was fed up with waiting for something to happen ..

one young  lad came in late with twisted bollocks , came back from theatre full of drugs , wanted to do this that and the other , fell asleep and woke up feeling like his balls had been kicked into orbit ..

old chap next to me desperate to go home , but had to pass the pee test , when he could , he phoned home to ask his wife to pick him up and was told to wait as she was having her hair done !!

Thanks, just feeling a bit bloated. No need for morphine, the only pain I've had is ache - a bit like a stitch - where they pierced me. Think soluble staples, but will check, thanks. Stuff self injecting, I can pass out when receiving injections. Having tablets instead.

I thought the Spanish had the market sown up at this time of year. They have to eat 12 grapes on the chime of the bells leading up to Midnight on teh 31st Dec. A tradition only  be going a century and abit and was dreamed up by sellers of grapes to boost slow sales.
