The grumpy thread

I've just got back from a weekend in Pontins at Pakefield near Lowestoft, It was bitterly cold over the weekend with a fine covering of snow but it wasn't too bad, This morning though was nasty, There was about 5-6 inches on the side roads driving back down the A12 to Ipswich with traveling speed down to 20 mph, mind you Ipswich seems pretty clear at the moment although i think it's all coming down here.

And on another notice i was meant to see Booby Davro last night at Pontins but due to the weather he couldn't make it so ended up with some glow in the dark puppet act and the bluecoats doing their christmas show, which was crap.

We've only had a very light dusting of snow here. Came down for about half an hour and stopped. Can't see that being the last of it though. Still got a long way to go to match the deleterious lows of -17 that the temperature dropped to in Sale last year.....

But surely better than Bobby Davro?

^ Ooops, are you stranded at Gatwick then? I feel better about being at home now

Not to worry, I found the Wetherspoon and some Abbot Ales.

No snow here yet, quite looking forward to it if it does though. The dog will love it and it'a always a laugh watching people who can't even drive on dry roads.

Mind you was minus eight this morning.

Oh trust me they wasn't!, We started to fall asleep at one point, and when we waked up we got told off for talking by another table of old people (Everyone was over 55 at the place!) for talking!

Their was one comedian who was brilliant called Tucker, We was wetting ourselves to him, Most of the winkley's didn't like his language though.

The eucalyptus probably won't survive the harsh frosts you're due.

I'll give it another half hour then ring work to see if anything is likely to happen today (but I'm suspecting that it won't)

Ring work? I thought you worked for yourself, and thus would merely have to ring yourself to find out what you are having yourself do today?

Ah, that explains why no-one answered the phone then....

Took two hours to make the 10 minute/5 mile trip across town today. The queue to get through Stockton was over a mile long - yet no-one seemed to be having any trouble, so I assumed the A19 and A66 were closed and everyone was diverting through.

Oh no.

One bridge over the A66, a delightful queue of busses at the side of the road, and two artics taking turns to try and jackknife themselves to get on top of it. Spoke to one, he'd been trying to get up the bank for two hours and thought it was hilarious. That would explain the mile long queue behind him then.. Knew I should have walked it!

Needless to say it didn't look good when the lads from Durham and Sunderland made it in a Celica and a barried up Ibiza over an hour before I ambled in!

I drove back from Hartlepool the other day, just after the snow had kicked off and some of the driving on the A19 was abysmal. I'd have thought that the natives in the that neck of the woods would have seen snow in the past and learnt about it. I was obviously wrong...

Door locks frozen solid on the Beemer this morning , managed to get in by unlocking the doors via the boot lock ( central locking win ) , Dinner time at work sprayed some oil in all three locks whereapon I noticed the OSR tyre was rather low , closer inspection revealed a feck off nail sticking out where the sidewall meets the tread , £55.15 later a new tyre fitted ,

Broke again as its not even payday yet

It's bloody ridiculous! You'd think that snow was something completely new.

You'd be surprised. Ours appears to be indestructible... :D

As I mentioned before I've spotted a lovely MR2 well within my price range and not too far away. Chatted to the seller via email and he seems pretty genuine so am well up for going to view. But he's away this weekend so I wouldn't be able to do anything until the following Saturday. I get paid on Wednesday but no way of getting the money out until Saturday and I don't want to view the car in the dark

Searching around but all the others seem to be rotboxes and chav wagons. What a fuckload of arse

Around 700 this week and 950 next (good old weekly paycheques). I want a near standard mk.1 or 2 MR2 that isn't red hasn't been chavved

Friday night, I drive a truck from Grangemouth to Washington and back, thro' all the foul crap of the weather. No real problems, a coupe of little easily caught slides here and there. Took an hour extra each way, but it was steady on 30-40mph at worst.

This afternoon, I drive down to the garage to get a bag of coal to tide us over 'til tomorrow, and get stuck thrice over making the two right turns, from the main road to our street. The lightweight, FWD Meg, keeps getting its' low-ish front bumper and sills beached on the higher bits of snow. Bollocks.

And people don't believe me, when I say I'd rather do 500 miles in a truck on snow, rather than take the car to the end of the street!

Yep. Spent all day waiting in for them today to collect a parcel, didn't turn up. Phoned them, "oh your road was impassable". The hundreds of cars that went up there earlier would disagree!
