Hoover/Candy tumble dryers. Who the fuck designs a dryer that needs completely dismantling (to the state where the only thing left in the casing is the motor and fan) to replace the heater assembly?

The heater itself is bolted on the outside of the back of the dryer with 2 screws. Great I think! then it transpires that to unplug the bloody thing, the WHOLE dryer needs taking apart.

It's turned what could be a 5 minute job (had they left another 3 inches of wire for me to go at) to 90 minutes to take the thing apart. I've got until next week to wait for the part (and forget how the bloody thing goes back together).

Similar thing happened to me some time ago. Take photos as you dismantle next time.

I've been grumpy this last week as Mrs Ash's car got clobbered by an bus on sunday last. She has had to have some of her hair shaved off so the medics could remove glass fragments from her head, she has a BFO bruise the size of Belfast City Hall on her leg, 2 black eyes (which are fading now) and she's still woried about going to sleep in case she loses consciousness altogether and doesn't wake up again.

The single-decker was being driven by some monkey who works on them, not a proper bus driver.

Wanker.

Im annoyed none of us spotted this on Pistonheads. HOWEVER, it was missing the trademark mirror and I am certain they didnt have rubbing strips. Bet it will be a Cosworth Replica soon.

Also, hope Mrs Ash gets better soon AM.

£550, seller made a point of mentioning it as a Cosworth re-shell, apparently it had been in storage for a decade. Bugger!

Heard Ray Winstone on Talksport this week, and he was askd about the Sweeney remake.

"We've heard Danny Dire (sic) is going to play the Dennis Waterman role"

"Nothings been decided yet..."

Can't someone kill this useless waste of skin before he ruins what could potentially be a good film?

The unpainted grille more than makes up for the common mirrors. Mega shitey.

I had something I was really pleased about, and was going to post it in the Grin thread... lo and behold, it's gone. Can't for the life of me remember what it was. :(

Lost the V5c for a car I sold last week, meaning I can;t send it off to confirm change of ownership. New owner can use the green slip to get a new logbook but i'll get fined £55! Do you think the DVLA will accept a letter instead?

Also missed out on a Wolseley 18/85 with had light accident damage but looked mega solid. Owner sent it for scrap after a number of messers. Bugger!

They always used to, as long as you put in all the new keeper's details and the vehicle details you should be fine.

That's a pain.

Seats might have been suitable for Reckless, if nothing else. ;)

Mate of mine ran out of diesel in his common rail Renault Traffic lastnight.Tried to bleed it today. There is so much air in the system every time I opened the bleed screw it sucked the diesel back up the pipe again.grrr.I will have to either attach a bleed "bulb" to the bleed screw or a piece of rubber hose that then goes into a container with diesel in it to get the air out. That's a job for tomorrow now.

After trying for half an hour I towed him to his house. On a plus point, tow poles work just as well in reverse.

School phoned, they are snowed in :(

Looking out the window, it looks as though we are too, and fresh snow is falling at the moment. Car buried.. street invisible under the blanket of snow, nothing moving. No signs of any buses passing either. I'll give it another half hour then ring work to see if anything is likely to happen today (but I'm suspecting that it won't)

Yep, I'm snowed in. No way out of the village, the only road is blocked with snow and abandoned cars. I could walk across the valley to work, but I don't think anyone else will be there anyway. They ain't answering the phone....

How much snow is there?

I am on my way back from the sunny Med' now, which was often 30C hotter than the current temperatures at home, even Gatwick (which usually feels tropical compared to home) is baltic.

Well, here there is around a foot and a half... but I do live on a hill in the middle of nowhere.

Edited to add a picture, and complain about whatever the heck photobucket have done to their site! (again)

/\ /\ /\ Nice to see the 'Greynade' there in (in)action Scary! /\ /\ /\

Must admit that these snow scenes really do have me hankering back in Blighty at the moment, which I know is stupid. Obviously I'm forgetting about the fact our last house had frost on the inside of the bathroom windows come winter time, let alone with that much snow around....

I think the same amount fell last week where I live. Flights to Newcastle, Leeds-Bradford and the important one, Inverness cancelled. Gah.

^ Ooops, are you stranded at Gatwick then? I feel better about being at home now

Eurobox drivers and snow.

There's me, in a Land Rover, making a necessary journey to get animal feed in the 2 inches of snow that fell this morning. In order to avoid a minor tangle of Bus, Truck and a couple of cars, I took a wee short cut through a housing estate, knowing there's a traffic light controlled incline to exit the other side. The lights went green, and the cars (Touran and Volvo) in front slithered around a bit, the lights went red. The lights went green again. The cars in front slithered around a bit more. The lights went red. Still, nobody was bothered enough to get out and take a look at their cars or the road surface. Lights went green. I went on the pavement, around them all, and onto the main road, all horns blaring from behind....! The traffic on the main road was at a near standstill. The bloke in the 2nd car got out and then told me I had pushed in! Into what? They were stationary, I told him to fuck off back into his poxy little resin repmobile before I reversed into it and changed it's shape. The look on his face was priceless. I got to the Animal feed place, loaded up, paid up, and having left the place, went back the same way to get home. Guess what? Volvo boy was still there, slithering around behind the Touran. Well he learnt something, didn't he?!

What a Knobber.

There's absolutely bugger all snow where I live, but there's about 3 inches in Norwich. Which was enough to bring the whole of Norfolk grinding to a halt. It took me an hour and 35 minutes to do the 15 miles into work this morning.

In other news, RIP Leslie Nielsen.

There is a light scattering of snow on the pavements here, being melted by the sun. They have still closed a load of schools, probably on h&s grounds. When I was at school they closed twice in about 14 years, due to proper, heavy snow.

I was planning to go into Norwich this morning but heard it was pretty much gridlocked, so I turned around and went back home. Gotta do 25 miles to work in about an hour - and I don't finish until 10pm, by which time the roads will resemble an ice rink.

RIP Leslie, what a legend.
