TLDR: My fucking car, I can do what I want with it.

You could make it a fuel injected 2.8 then.... I will get me coat.

It's already got one of those boat anchors fitted !

My would be buyer is now telling me it's his favourite car. Good news! If you type ford capri into ebay you can buy one from somebody that wants to actually sell you one!

wait a minute... if that technique works can I get a testarossa for £100 by telling a current owner I've wanted one since playing outrun in 1986?

I'd laugh if they've fallen victim to some North Korean ransomware....

it's not DNS.
There's no way it's DNS.
It was DNS.

It's global though. I reckon a cleaner pulled out the wrong plug.

I can just see the wonderful, short-term, entirely GDPR-compliant Facebook temporary solutions board now looking at that and rubbing their chins...

I would joke but I would almost guarantee that some clueless member of staff will call me tomorrow asking why they can't log into Facebook.  And I'll have to politely tell them that it's got nothing to do with me and just because it's on a computer doesn't mean that the magical IT man can fix it...

I can imagine there will be many IT deskpeople and teccies tearing their hair out at relentless questions like that.

Meanwhile, this chap has said this could turn out to be a communications war, which sounds fun
https://www.simonparkes.org/post/urgent-social-media-down-over-75-of-the-planet

Now, I'm taking that page with a few pinches of salt but I suppose it's something to consider. Somebody, somewhere, has had a field day fucking around with Facebook.

I wouldn't mind seeing non-Internet connected telephone exchanges and the postal system etc. having a resurgance but I'm pretty sure that'll just stay as a weird dream of mine.

It's amazing how long my hair is given the fact that I work in IT Support.  The fact that I have any left at all is remarkable.

Just heard from a friend over in the US there are reports of it being an attack from the inside. If that's true, their safety culture is pretty poor. Laughbly poor.

It has long been recognised that the biggest cyber risk for any company is generally going to be the "disgruntled employee".

Incidentally, I'd be surprised if Facebook had a safety culture. Lives don't depend on anything they do.

This is true, I supose I should have said "data safety culture", as in clear desk policies, leaving screens off and accounts locked when unnattended etc. The Facebook mothership is gigantic AF so I shouldn't be too surprised that it's happened.

Missed all the excitement.  As usual as I don't use any of that stuff.

Facebook has struggled back online today, though at the time of writing glitches are still very much a part of The Social Network™ experience.

WhatsApp and Facebook became available to users at around 2210 UTC on October 4 after falling off the internet some six or so hours prior. Instagram and Facebook Messenger should be not far behind.

In the past hour, Facebook tweeted: "To the huge community of people and businesses around the world who depend on us: we're sorry. We’ve been working hard to restore access to our apps and services and are happy to report they are coming back online now. Thank you for bearing with us."

CTO Mike Schroepfer earlier said: "Sincere apologies to everyone impacted by outages of Facebook powered services right now. We are experiencing networking issues and teams are working as fast as possible to debug and restore as fast as possible."

The Register

I get at least one daily email from them but that was never mentioned.  Odd as they are generally quite gleeful when such fuckups occur.

Just made complete shit of a tyre in rural north Norfolk, a complete bell end in a Peugeot wouldn't pull in to give me room(he had plenty of space)and I clipped my left front wheel off a piece of flint rock in the hedgerow.

Less than a year old Avon with a big hole in the sidewall.

Found a place called ATS,that had ONE hankook tyre in the correct size in stock.

£120!!!

Fuck me I only want one.

Too busy to fit it now sir, come back tomorrow.

Managed to get him to do it for 5pm this evening.

Every fucking thing is so expensive in this county.

So for some reason I've been failing to identify this red car for about 3 hours and it's doing my tree in. It was posted on a Facebook group.

Anyone know?

A:  Lies your mother told you:  Cheats Never Prosper / Crime Doesn't Pay.  Bollocks!  As borne out (for the several-millionth time in my life) in the last half-hour at my local Boots.  Sign on the door limiting customers to a maximum of 3.  I looked through the window and saw 5, so stood waiting.  Stupid fat blonde walks straight in past me bringing the total to 6.  And she didn't have a mask on either.  Guess who got served first?  I very seriously considered tripping her up on her way out, but managed to restrain myself.  The pavement doesn't deserve to be assaulted by her mug.

Leading to B: I'm out of my anti-depressants (last one yesterday) and haven't had the usual text telling me they're ready, so I called in to find out.  After the events of A, now it seems the surgery had only sent one prescription in for me last month instead of starting a batch to run for several months as usual.  The surgery only deals with prescription queries before 1pm, so I'll have to call them in the morning.  I suspect I'm going to get a lot of "please don't talk to me like that sir" before I get dealt with, if I get dealt with at all.

C) All the above happened on the way home from an afternoon showing of No Time To Die.  A less-than satisfactory Bond film, despite (because of?) many heavy references to the earlier movies.  Very heavy use of "All The Time In The World" from OHMSS; Also, nice to see B549WUU, Dalton's Aston that can be caught by Lada police cars on ice.  Except it was destroyed in that movie, much like the DB5 was in Skyfall.  Continuity, guys, come on...  A detail I did like was the corridor by M's office, with paintings on the wall of some of his predecessors, specifically Judi Dench and Robert Brown.  I was looking for Bernard Lee but failed to spot him.  I liked Craig as Bond.  I liked the cold hard edge he brought to the part, very much like the character in the books.  But this..... this was just too gloomy, in so many ways.  And the freefalling "quality" of theme song hasn't changed, each one more rubbish than the last by a long LONG distance.  This one being a perfect illustration.

So... am I grumpy?  Fucking right I am!

Went to change the wheels over on the mobile skip (Octavia) to a set of winters.

Buggering garage have buzzed them up so tight they won't shift. I was bouncing up and down on the tyre lever with no effect.
