The grumpy thread

What we need is an additive which is perfectly legit and sensible for a lawnmower but not so good for cars.

Or empty the tank out because you needed somewhere to keep your killer bees...

Petrol calibration fluid?

Looks and tastes and feels like petrol, but isn't.

At a company I worked at we had a store of Deisel calibration fluid used for a Project with Lucas Deisel Systems (CAV)

SOME dickheeed stole 5 litres of that.

We never found out who.... shame really. Would have liked to be smug.

I have no twitter. Also manking me grumpy are spark energy; £160 a month for gas & eleccy for a small 2 bed house with 2 occupants seems expensive.

Utilities can just get out my life right now.

That's very expensive, you need to compare other suppliers and switch. Then spend the saving on some chod.

Woke up with no voice, temperature of 39, really achey limbs and no appetite. Been up an hour and can't keep even lemsip down.

Estimates need to get in the sea. I’ve been lazy and not bothered submitting readings for a while because I live in a block of flats and the meters are in a locked cupboard - need to contact the management company.

Yeah. £350 bill coming. Cheers E.ON.

Fucking birds. Had the BMW washed on Saturday. Like an absolute twat, I parked it under some trees in a free space instead of parking it on the free driveway I've been given use of, so now birds with fuck knows what diet they have have used my car for target practice and left giant bird turds on the roof of my car. Bastards. I got most of it off with some wipes but another wash is what's needed tonight. More money to spend the. That'll learn me for parking under trees.

Had to buy a new washing machine, which is a grump in itself. But why oh fucking why do women want to know how many different features, programs etc does it have. After all, she's going to use the same fucking program for all the washes until this one bites the dust and gets turned into a BMW...

We had to have a new one a week ago as the old ones bearings went and the new bearings were 2/3rds of the cost of a replacement washer so it didn't make sense to repair it, I was well chuffed the new one came with a 10 year parts warranty, looks nicer and is less complicated

Bloody HSBC. My Credit card is always blocked online because Varified by Visa don't think my birthday is a valid date - I'm pretty sure it is because I don't think my mum would have lied about it and I've been using it for nearly 40 years.

So there's no way to contact VbyV, so naturally I complained to my bank, who did nothing. So I just left it. Now I need to pay a bill to finish my NVQ and it would be much easier to put it on the card but no, and when I go to HSBC's website to kick off the (probably futile) complaints procedure I find all the help topics are just broken links.

Exactly the same here. I've simply given up on HSBC entirely.

I'm not on commission (but would be open to it) however Metro bank are very good if you have one somewhere near you. Also very good on the telephone with people not just reading a script parrot fashion!

Yeah. I had forgotten about this about because of all my broadband problems but I will be sacking off HSBC when the time comes.

Have already migrated to a combination on Monzo (faultless) and Nationwide (who pay good interest but seem to be on a similar level of fuckup as hsbc)

Did some nosing around to look into the possibility of sticking the Lada into storage for a while (or over winter) given selling it seems to be an act in futility at present.

Yeah...at £100-250pcm that's not happening.

Someone remind me why I moved down south again?

Posted

Agh. Fucking DVLA, charging me tax on cars I have sold ages ago.

I'm sorry guys, I'm going to have to no longer be 'that guy' and leave stuff taxed for a few days when I sell it as it's getting absurd. I've sent PMs to people when it's been clear a keeper change hasn't taken place in the past, from now on it's being done on the day I sell stuff.

Is the sex better ?

I can think of no valid reason to live south of erm........ the Midlands...

Apart from that.

Nothing obvious, I mean it doesn’t look like it’s had any major panels or inner wings replaced and the panel gaps are all good, but it’s 34 years old so who knows. (Me driving it with brake lines clamped off would likely introduce some lol)

What I do know is it’s also had, from a previous owner, new shocks and springs all round, new ARB bushes/drop links, new discs and pads.

It still feels suspension related though, I can’t adequately describe what it feels like but it’s almost like the passenger side 'dives' when you touch the brakes, and literally I mean you only have to lightly apply them. It actually seems to even up the harder you apply them.

I have new track rod ends I bought a while back, maybe I’ll fit them and get it aligned and see if that makes any odds, not particularly hopeful though.

Other than that I dunno, master cylinder, steering rack....starting to get onto big ticket items...

I read the first post and thought it probably is the springs if you've changed all that. Swap them over and see it it does it the other way. If the car is diving on one side only then that'll effect the position of everything related on the suspension.

Don't you just cancel the direct debit?

Weird, I have the exact same opposite thoughts... I can think of no valid reason to live North of erm........ the south of the  Midlands!  ;-)

I'm in a similar situation, the cunts known as npower think that I use £85 per month of electricity in my small 1 bedroomed flat. I use nowhere near that. Yet every month or so they chuck £200 on top of the growing bill. I've been to the energy ombudsman and am waiting an outcome. Still not heard anything from them yet after 1 week.

I did until they sent a letter threatening me with a huge fine when someone didn't tax the car...it was sorted but I really can't be bothered with it

I complained to the damn Energie firm here about this.... and got nowhere. I then got another reading done - they wouldn't believe me when I told them it myself. Of course their boy confirms the numbers. I get a notice I'll be refunded €1448 for the last year.... That's right - they had me paying €100+ per mth too much. Latest bill dropped by €60 - how the hell is that possible? On top of that - the promised returned funds that should have been in my account in July, still not there... thieving, lying acne licking, genderless scrotum lint chewing plonkers.

If you're the seller don't you get to decide when the sale is notified to the DVLA?

When I sold my Granada Cosworth the online change of keeper form had been sent of before he cleared the end of my street.

I did, but they have still charged me. To be fair there's only one I may have issues with...i lost the V5...

Edited to add I did tell the buyer the above (it's not you Nyphur) but nothing back.

I know it's really all my fault but I've woken up in a foul mood today.

Mo, at least yours are just birds, the tree outside our house contains Pterodactyls. It's the only real explanation.

Small claims court and then send the bailiffs in?

(appreciate this may not be an option for you what with Belgium being Belgium, and institutional incompetence being as much a part of life as moules-frites.)

Same here.... Declared SORN, Done change of keeper etc on various cars , yet still.....

Rang DVLA about two cars that I don't have. Sorry sir, a cheque is in the post. Today, two more direct debits. My fault for not actually cancelling the direct debits I suppose, but last time I did that I got a storm of emails and letters threatening me because I had cancelled them...

It would be nice if their system just worked......

Posted

According to my bank, you need 3 clear working days to cancel a DD. But you can claim them back via the DD indemnity (just ask at the bank the day after they have come out)

Posted

I’ve never cancelled a DVLA direct debit - they take the payment as normal and then refund it a few days later along with anything else owed, and cancel it.
