Turns out the front pads on the drivers side down to the fucking metal! Passenger side is not far behind. Calipers weren't binding or owt, sliders lovely and free.

These pads have done maybe 7000 miles and doesn't believe me when I say her driving is erratic!

Managed to get a set of pads locally so she can get to work tomorrow to some mega important meeting thing.

She's now decided she needs a new car though because this one is "worn out" at ten years old.

Mount an aroogah horn in the glovebox and wire it to the brake light switch. Use a relay. And a fuse.

Our next door neighbour had a new conservatory, new windows, solar panels, a roller shutter door for the garage, new drive and a few other bits all between 80 and her popping her clogs, none of them needed. Not sure if she was gullible or just liked workmen around to talk to as the family never visited.

It did us a favour in the end as she spent so much and had equity release as well so they ended up having to sell the house, they had planned to rent it out. The guy who bought it is brilliant, could not get a better neighbour.

Ah, sounds like she had her revenge.

Ah, sounds like she had her revenge.

To be fair the family were far more pleasant than she was, but it was a weird family to say the least. I could on for ages on all the weird stuff that happened but my favourite was when one of the family turned up in the middle of the night and dumped a caravan in front of her car on the drive blocking her in and putting wheel clamps on so it couldn’t be moved. That took a few weeks for her to resolve, no idea why they did it.

Have had two e-mails now demanding $7000 and another for $3000 to stop someone sending out a video of me pleasuring myself while watching some porn filth to my contacts on Bookface and Messenger e.t.c...

I know it's a scam because I don't have a bookface or messenger account.

It is also up to me to decide how much I enjoy a decent adult art video....

The more paranoid amongst us have tape over the lens of the webcam anyway. Last time I got one of those emails it was 300 euro they wanted you must have seemed like a wealthy email address!

What? Pads in 7k has she been minicabbing or doing track days? I've never known a set wear out that quickly!

Same. I've never owned a car long enough to change the pads twice, but I think I've done four sets on hers!

They were just cheapo sunday morning motor factors jobs, same as this time round which won't help matters, but she's just really shit at driving.

You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family. Blood's thicker than water, and all that type of thing.

Cyclist rode into the side of our car this afternoon and now we've had a visit from an officer of the law!  Seems he's reported us for "failing to stop".  He's also put a vid on YouTube.  Fucking marvellous.

Further to my previous grumps about BT and our non-op WiFi, suffice to say it still isn't working, with the router now refusing the password and showing all kinds of error lights.

Several long phone calls: Achieved Nothing

Logging a complaint: Also Nothing

0/10 on their Feedback form; Also Nothing

The phone line is back on, so I guess you could say they fixed that, but still no broadband. They sorta think the router is faulty, maybe. The only way they could provide a replacement is by us signing a whole new contract. Even though they completely failed to fix the service, they tried to sell me a new service. And the only thing the complaint has done is them pestering me to agree to close the complaint. They literally couldn't have cared less.

They also offered, as part of the new package, their premium service which is priority fault fixing (lol!) and UK only call centers, which suggest to me they obviously believe the centers in India or whatever are inadequate but they only care if you're willing to pay an 40% a month.

This all leaves me with a much bigger mobile bill, due to all the 4G I've had to use, and in the soul destroying world of shopping for broadband. Also, the only reason I've been able to tell BT to FRO is because we're out of contract, despite never missing a bill or anything. Literally no idea what that is about.

Well over a week since the broadband went down and I have literally gotten nowhere. I phoned to make sure they didn't hit us with a hideous cancellation charge and was transferred to the "Value Team" (shit you not) only to be told we are still on contract and that will be £130 please. I questioned this as it contradicted what I've been told, but the dude didn't know either way so it has been referred to the "off line team" and I'm awaiting a call back. Well, awaiting it to be missed anyway.

I think even the best case scenario will be them demanding 30 days notice. I don't see how they can demand notice when they've utterly failed to fix the faults, leaving us disconnected without notice. I think I'll reopen the complaint, just to be a pain in the arse if nothing else.

moderns with stability control can eat rear pads as the rears get used to keep things straight and true

Yeah my abarth did that when you threw it at a tight roundabout.

At least it keeps the calipers moving and the disks from going rusty.

Garage...Colin has just sent me a message to say he is stuck in Germany with a broken van, possibly failed injector.  Now it's an old van, but, convenient? I am not inclined to believe him but it makes no matter as it's all going to cost ME money.

Had to buy a new washing machine, which is a grump in itself. But why oh fucking why do women want to know how many different features, programs etc does it have. After all, she's going to use the same fucking program for all the washes until this one bites the dust and gets turned into a BMW...

Was doing a bit of administrative housework today which forced me to look at the monthly direct debits etc. This reminded me of the fact that I'm being ripped off to the tune of £115 a month by Adrian Flux for insuring the Activa.

Much as I love driving the thing I seriously need to consider selling it as that's just nuts. I did shop around a bit, but apparently a high performance French hatchback that's worth buttons is a high risk prospect and most of the quotes were in the same ballpark.

Also not so much a grump as a generally depressing fact was discovered while going through some of my old Autocar magazines. The question of "I wonder what's left?" ran through my mind - at which point I realised that that thanks to the MOT history checker I kinda could.

Not a *single* car with a plate in the system from the 2nd July 1997 issue is left on the road. Longest lived was an Almera GTi that made it to late 2016...

Report them to OffCom. Not just poor service but a complete pisstake.

I checked their site. They don't get involved with individual complaints. I can get the Ombudsman involved after 8 months but untill then I'm stuck with BT.

Even if it actually has or hasn't broken itself, Colin has had far more than enough time to sort his shit out and retrieve his car from your garage. I'd just tell him to insure & tax it by tomorrow/mid week (if generous) as you need to use your garage urgently yourself...

Following on from what others have posted, get on twitter ad moan at BT on there; apparently they(large, lumbering corporate monoliths) react quickly and effectively when you do this.

I have no twitter. Also manking me grumpy are spark energy; £160 a month for gas & eleccy for a small 2 bed house with 2 occupants seems expensive.

Utilities can just get out my life right now.
