Missed an parcel today, bit of a pain as it'll mean an evening trip down to the depot in Leeds. No bother though really, done it enough times to know the route and they're open late enough.

Only this time it isn't a trip down to the depot, it has been left with a local Post Office. "Great!" I think, only down the road. Look up the opening hours - 9:00am to 5:30pm! I'll be at work the entire time, how the hell am I meant to work around that? Bloody useless - no wonder they're getting shut down, no one with a job can get to the damn things.

Worst thing is when they leave it at a Post Office (which seems to be entirely at their discretion) it removes your ability to have it re-delivered or even just kept at the depot, so this parcel will be in limbo now whilst I plan an enormous logistics operation to move a parcel about a mile down the road to my house. This will probably involve me having to pay someone to go and get it, no doubt with extra costs because there were a dozen hatchet-faced old witches asking to withdraw their entire Post Office account and go on and on and on about bloody stupid old rubbish even though people are waiting in the queue and they've got things to do and they can't wait for you to just get the hell out of here oh just die already you rotten old bags!

Unlike most, I actually quite like the postal service and think it does a good job for the money. But I hate Post Offices. I can't actually go in Castleford Post Office anymore, the last time I went in there (to actually post something) there was a queue of about 30 of the most hopeless-looking people I've ever seen and I ended up openly asking why no one in this town appears to have a job. Not the most clever thing I've done, but mildly satisfying at least.

In a similar boat - obviously at the office - can't possibly make it (normally) back in time to collect whilst they are open.... so bu**ered. Can only be me over here - with photo ID as proof min. and they are open even shorter hours than UK.

One parcel was sent back to Japan 3times! even though I called them, explained I was out of the country and would be back to get it in 2-3weeks. Then customs flagged the parcel and I was investigated for running an import business! - Bet of all - guess who I'm contracted to - yup - La Poste!!!!

Words fail sometimes

What is it with Pikey's/ Travelers whatever ?, i'm sure people would be more tolerant if they weren't such filthy gits, and disposed of their various Crap more thoughtfully.

We had a field locally that the local primary used for it's football matches etc, until some Gypo's moved in, and turned it into a cross between the local sewage plant the Somme and West Beirut.

Took the Council Fekkin' ages to get them moved, with a "can't go offending anyone" attitude, if it was me, it'd be 3 in the morning with a fleet of Bulldozers, no warning, Caravans, everything, they wouldn't come back

Can't understand how the Old Bill are so powerless when it comes to Gyppo's. If a 'normal' citizen was caught trespassing on essentially private land, & proceeded to vandalise it & it was all caught on CCTV, I'm sure we'd have our collar's felt pretty quick-sharp.

What's bugging me is the 5 pikey caravans and dozens of stinky pikeys that go with them parked in my work car park (council owned).

I have to go to work through threats to be stabbed, piles of dog shit and human piss, only then to have to look at a caravan 3 feet from my window, whilst some fat pikey cleans it all day (the caravan is spotless) and chucks all the rubbish all over the floor outside.

The kids have trashed everything in the car park and smashed up cars and bikes, and the CCTV...nothing the police car do, sir, apparently.

This gets right on my wick. Why the hell can't they do anything?

I am quite partial to the trashy 'cop' shows and the number of times a stolen vehicle arrives at a pikey camp and the police simply recover the stolen vehicle from the site with no questions ask....or even worse simply leg it is UNBELIEVABLE! What is wrong with them?

land owners responsibilty to get them moved & vandalism has to be proved.

yesterday i was speaking on the phone to someone while the caravans moved in to his office carpark, the police were there within 10 minutes, had a word and then left - this morning he sent me an email - 'someone' broke in last night and stole a load of alloys

Perhaps "Someone" could mysteriously set light to one of their vans :D

Police arrived and warned the kids not to hurt themselves on the stuff they were vandalising, not a word that they had destroyed it in the first place.

They are a 'race' apparently, so can't be offended, however in Ireland it appears they aren't a race, but a 'group', surely their own country know what they are, so why the fuck do we decide they are something else and to be protected? These guys don't have a romany bone in them.

The place looks like a shit hole and I can't allow any customers on site, even if they wanted to come.

We had pikeys on the industrial estate where i used to work.

They set up camp on the end of the plumbers merchants in front of our shop, It had 4 or 5 caravans and Talbot camper vans there, The place was a shit hole.

One day they came into the motor factors where i worked for a clutch for the camper van, about 6 of them came in picking up all the stock in front of the till and stinking the place out.

They left about 2 weeks later as the police had served them noticed to move, They ended up driving a Astra through a caravan into the back wall of the plumbers building, damaging the wall so bad that the place had to close whilst they made it safe, and the site was full of human feces. :?

the site was full of human feces. :?

We've got some "Brickey's",( apparently that's the police name for pikeys who have decided to live in a house, according to our local copper ) living in the block of houses where I live, place is rented, and since they've been here the communal garden has become a Shit hole, kids drop any rubbish they happen to have everywhere, the dog's allowed to shit anywhere, and everyone's their "Bruv" or whatever the latest pikey word is, there's a couple of knackered bangers left to rot in other peoples parking spaces, Etc, Etc

Now i'm no snob, but for F's sake my kids play in the garden and constantly get crap on their shoes, and as kids do, they associate with said Pond life's spawn, and their manners and language have taken a nosedive.

As I say i'm far from being Lord Snooty, but I do try to instill some Values in my two, but when they've spent any time with theirs, their "attitude" becomes awful.

I've been close to whacking mine recently, which I wouldn't normally dream of, and all because some lowlife pops out brats to get extra benefits.

Just piss off back where you came from, GRRRR!

Pikeys - a sore subject with me. They're regular 'visitors' to our town and often camp up in one of the lesser-used council owned car parks. Coincidentally, crime rates suddenly explode though the roof when they're around. My father used to work opposite one of their former sites. They were always broken into when the pikeys were in town - without fail. The police couldn’t care less even if they tried.

The place I work at is also becoming a regular target. We've had window shutters torn from their mounts, steelwork/scrap stolen and various old computers (which have nothing on them - they're all linked to the server so once they're not connected, the computers are effectively empty of anything).

On one occasion at night when we were broken into, the building opposite ours had a security camera which covered both buildings. An old red Audi 80 turned up our the car park, rope tied to one of the shutters and the other to the car to tear it off before they broke it. This was all caught on video, including the number plate, and collected by the police the following morning. Nothing happened.

We've also had them actually demolishing part of the outside wall to remove the shutter to get in to steal the petty cash tin. Nothing else was taken, no furniture, no computers - just the petty cash tin. What was in it? £3.28 and a handful of receipts... All that mess to the outside wall, window and shutter for a matter of a few pounds...

A few weeks later we found the twisted remnants of the petty cash tin about 100yds down the railway line in the grassy ditch not far from where they were staying. Shortly before this, we actually spotted a few bricks (conveniently the same amount missing when it was rebuilt) from our wall stacked up and even the twisted blue lid from the petty cash tin clearly visible on the corner of the site from the road. The police were notified. Again, nothing happened.

The council take far too long to respond to complaints about pikeys from those who actually pay them money to live where they do. Serving notices on them is also a waste of time. I’ve always believed it should be a case of “Move now or be movedâ€Â. As far as I’m concerned if you pay no tax, then you have few rights.

In my opinion there's only one way to deal with pikeys - a few JCB's and a group of burly blokes armed with flamethrowers.

If it was Parcelforce, you should be able to ring up the depot & get them to pick up the parcel from the Post Office & take it back to the depot for you to collect :)

Welcome to the site, from another former resident (But still a citizen) of Brussles (Still wish I lived there :( )

I know what you mean about La Poste, they are as effective as chocolate fireguard. Mind you, they dont seem to 'lose' parcels as much as our Postal "Services"

Do they still shut half a day on Wednesday?

The wifes elderly grandparents are having a big problem with their next door neighbour. He holds parties all night, abuses, intimidates and swears at other people living in the small cul de sac and drives around coked up and drunk. Any ideas on how to ruin his fun/life without him knowing whos behind it? Ideally id like to see him in prison.

Tim - there's loads of things you can do to make his life hell. A friend of mine was in an abusive relationship, and when she finally left him, he wouldn't leave her alone.

"Someone":

Stole his wheelie bin. Total arseache to get another

Stole his washing

Got his mobile phone turned off by reporting it stolen

Got him a trial subscription (free) to gay porn mags

Got his car lifted by an unscrupulous scrapman

Had his garden shed lifted by the council

Got someone else to make a TV disruptor. 1 9v battery and a diode of some kind, in a matchbox wrapped up in insulating tape, and chucked in his garden hedge. Short range, only fucked up his TV and no-one else's.

Found this. May not work with digital signals.

Haven't a clue to be honest.

Parts list

1. One 7404 ttl hex inverter (do not get an ls or other fast, low
power modle. They will not work. Do not worry the plain 7404 is the
most common. Try anything but 74ls04 or 74l04. 74n04 works.)

2. One variable tunning capacitor (between 1 to 30 pf(pico-farad)
range or there abouts(is not critical).) (try ripping one out of a
radio or from the crystal radio kit from radio shack)

3. One 9v battery

4. Wire

Circuit for tv jammer:

+ = shows where two wires cross over each other but don't
touch.

  * = shows where two or more wires are connected together.

  Ii/
--ii-- = between 1 to 30 pf range variable tunning capacitor.
 /ii

Note: pin 1 of the 7404 is the pin to the left of the notch on the top
of the chip. An antenna can be attached to pin 6 to improve range.
You can try other pins too.

Here's a pin by pin reading of the wiring.

1. Pin 1 connected to pin 6
2. Pin 2 connected to pin 3
3. Pin 4 connected to pin 5
4. Pin 4 connected to one lead of the variable tuning capacitor
5. Pin 6 connected to the other lead of the variable tuning capacitor
6. Pin 14 connected to the +9v of the battery
7. Pin 7 connected to the - or ground (gnd) end of the battery

You may add a switch between pin 7 and the - end of the battery or
between pin 14 and the +9 volts end of the battery. This makes it
much easier to turn on and off the jammer. Test out the jammer by
tunning your tv to the channle you want to jam. Start by moving the
dial of the tuning capacitor as far as it will move to one direction.
Then move it slowly in the opposite direction.
When the tv station seems to be at maximum distortion mark the
position of the dial for future fast access.

I think the trouble is most of us hear from time to time about the 'genuine' Romas/travelling community who I have no doubt are fantastic people, then we see people like the ones mentioned in this thread and we wonder ehere the nice ones are.

Not knocking your mate here you understand and I bet he gets mightily pissed off with the dickheads who spoil everything for him and the genuine ones.

A new camp opened not too far from here. Usual thing, they bought some land to 'keep horses on' and before you know it it's been filled with crush and run, there's a fucking big wooden chalet type caravan (GR8 for not needing planning permission) and God knows how many caravans.

Be a shame if people keep driving past there at 03.00 blaring horns and aiming paintball guns at their caravans won't it?
