The grumpy thread

My grump from today was doing a site inspection at a solar farm out in the sticks. No problems until I was about to leave site and dropped my phone straight into a pile of fresh sheep shit!

Hell if you go Northwards you can still have pleasant conversation with complete strangers on the bus or train without worrying about being accused of being a stalker or having a restraining order served.

I remember living in St.Helens as a kid, I then moved back in 1990. Oh, how different it was, and not in a very good way.

Nope, give me Paris over London. Much nicer bread in Paris.

Can't damp proof Rover as it is raining and therefore damp.

Think I'd unconsciously blocked the memory of transiting through Paris a couple of times from my brain due to the trauma.

I've never been through an area with more pushy, loud mouthed and just...well...rude people.

Nor have I until then been on a tram that was so overcrowded that I was honestly fearing for my life.  I was literally smooshed against the window.  Anyone who wanted my wallet, phone etc may as well have just taken it because there was bugger all I could do!

Honestly hope I never have to go near the bloody place ever again.  Give me London any day.

Having said that, I miss Aberdeen.  Never thought I'd say that as I'm really a creature of the countryside, but spent eight years living there and as cities go, it's not a bad old place.

What happened to the "Cars and Girls" thread?  Have we finally overdosed on Marina?

I bought a Pure DAB radio in 2006. It was expensive, it was sleek, and everything sounded like a Dalek trapped in a wheelie bin calling for help using a bust walkie-talkie.

The Pure I bought for £££ at about the same sort of time gave a similar performance.

Except the wheelie bin was full of water.

I bought a Sony one for work and on the days I could get a signal the batteries lasted about 40 minutes.

Or 4 days on FM.

Then that one broke.

I've not bothered since.

Been to Paris loads of times, love it. Far more relaxed and free of the sorts of arseholes you describe, very much the opposite of my experiences of London. Strange world..........

Too many complaints, too many "accidental" beaver/schoolgirl shots.  It had run its course.  Plenty of online opportunities elsewhere for nekkid laydees.

Can we talk about shite cars now?

I've been to Paris on a couple of occasions and remember it pretty much like Zelandeth, as  - like London - somewhere to be avoided. It took me a while to work out, but a year living in New Zealand confirmed to me that I'm just not meant to be a city dweller.

I bloody hate cities with a passion and had heard stories of how miserable Parisians were, I never found it like that at all. Perhaps they appreciated my appalling attempts at French but they were incredibly friendly without exception, even got a free drink off a Tabac owner after he nearly died laughing at my attempts to order. I do wonder if they just get sick of some ignorant English who expect them to speak English, so you need to make an effort and then they respond incredibly well. I have never had a single bad experience anywhere in France. One of my favourite memories is of an old guy in a tiny village garage who could speak not a word of English, I can speak zero words of mechanical French. We both resorted to the age old speak slowly and loudly like it would help. Between us we manage to fix my camper van to the point it moved under it’s own steam (just). The guy flatly refused to take a penny, I pushed a 20 Euro note into his hand and as we drove off his wife came out and gave our daughter a hand knitted teddy bear which she still has.

It's called moderation, a necessity of a site of this size.  The C&G thread was pretty appalling, tbqh, and not the light-hearted humour it started out as.  Fortunately the C&M thread didn't sink so low.  If you want porn, there's plenty of it elsewhere, here is not really the place.

As it happens, I chose to ignore the C&G thread and didn't report it, but I am glad it's gone.

I drove the c5 down to the Citroen museum on the outskirts a few years ago, but the last and only time I drove in central Paris was 1998 during the 2cv meeting. 4000 ish 2cvs in convoy through Paris. It was hilarious, amazing and terrifying all at the same time. I followed a fellow Thames Tortoise club member and told him that I wasn’t leaving a gap any more ( after the second scooter went between us ) and so if I hit him I’d buy and fit a new bumper that evening.

At one point Eddie ( in the car in front ) went through an orangey/red light, I said to my Canadian passenger - I’m French, we’re not stopping. And neither did the six 2cvs following me! God I needed a drink that night!

I enjoyed many of the posts in the C&G thread, but there are some members who post ten or twenty entirely unremarkable pictures in there nearly every day, seeing if they can sneak some uncovered genitals in every so often. I think it had become a game? If so it wasn't really funny.

I wasn't the one that finally binned it but I'm not going to argue with the fact it's now gone.

Shame. That thread was started with the best of intentions by Barratt, but had become something of a No Go zone because some people just get too excited about ladies.

Just changed the battery on daughter Iphone6, fuck me what a palaver, it's glued in to fuck and after a bit of levering the old battery started to smell a tad " stop levering or I'll melt ya bastard face off"

All done now with several screws left over  :-D

^ A shame indeed. I posted occasional SFW pictures, mainly of 1960’s motors and women. They were pretty subtle to be honest, and it’s disappointing that the entire thread has been binned for the sake of a few who were deemed to be pushing their luck. I appreciate the huge efforts Slarti and Stanky have/ continue to go to to ensure this show remains on the road, but I do miss many elements of the previous, liberated incarnation of this place.

I've driven about 140 miles today and I'm absolutely knackered. Bad thing is I've got to drive about 260 miles tomorrow, so I'm going to bed.

Tired of coughing and tired of everything hurting. Working from home because I can’t afford to not be paid which is making my recovery time even longer

Not surprised the woman behind the till in the shop 100m from my flat did not even look slightly arsed when the gruff Scottish bloke who looked like death asked for a bottle of Whyte and Mackay. It won’t help tomorrow but by fuck it helps now.

C & G started so well. Shame really, but we will always have ATCNBE!

Back in civilisation. Thanks Teutates.

Why is everything, and I do mean everything, in this country that runs on rails just royally knackered?

I mean ragged. Frayed, threadbare, shagged, dilapidated, scruffy shit. Victorian.

In short, it's fucked.

But a bloody ticket costs more than hiring a helicopter with chauffeur.

Yawn.

I don't care either way really. I'm not that sad about the thread going, I'm more sad that people on here have complained. I'm sad that people like that are amongst 'us'. I appreciate that gynaecological photos are not appropriate but I haven't seen anything like that in quite a while.( on here I mean, I have at home, you know, in real life )

Mainly because we hide them. It's become a daily ritual unfortunately.
