Does win10 use an algorithm to determine exactly the most inconvenient time to update?

And yes, auto update claims to be off.

Damnit - I missed out on the 25 'new' DB5s being made by the Aston Martin workshop........ and they only went for 1.5million each too! I can't remember asking them to be removed from their - do you want to spunk your earnings on a James Bond mobile - email list.........

Wonder if any of them will ever see the real road?

I still wanted it legal, I still have cable operated mechanical handbrake so those from the ministry will be happy, modified the handbrake lever by welding a saddle on to attatch the Clevis from a master cylinder to, which is all hidden in a centre console, I didn't want one of those nasty looking ebay type

Can't argue with that, not that I was casting judgement, and as long as it's your intent to now convert the footbrake to cable or rod like a proper car should be, you'll cop no scorn from me.

Whilst its good that the wipers don't move to avoid smearing shit all over the window when there is no water, why do they do that extra friggin wipe 10 seconds after the last one leaving just enough time for your window to get enough shit on it to smear it across your line of vision again? Drives me mad, Mrs Imps Megane does the same shit.

Anyhow, I have replaced the motor with one from a breakers and I have screenwash again. I have had to screw the undertray to the bumper by drilling some new holes though as when I was undoing them before the clamps just ripped the bumper instead of detaching themselves, hopefully that will hold.

The Lexus does this, though mostly it does actually seem to catch drips as designed. Above 70, it doesn't bother, because it has been programmed to accept that there won't be drips at that speed. Nice detail.

Yeah, they've had to slosh out a load of updates because Intel processors have gone all colander-security and not only are they not in a Tuesday, but you can't even opt out because you can guarantee by tomorrow there'll be a hundred bits of malware making use of this latest fuckup.

My glamorous assistant at work has a Ford c-max.She is a single mother of many and with no help from their father really struggles financially.Over the last year I have replaced tyres, suspension bushes, front pads and a rear caliper. After months of using my battery pack I finally fitted a new battery to the c-max.Not a nice job as the wiper arms and front scuttle have to come off.Her previous car was a Focus and just a few weeks after buying her a new battery for that she gave it away so I was reluctant to buy another battery for another car.Now the c-max is a shit-heap and a couple of weeks before xmas the handbrake lever spat it's button out . Being a single mother she can't be without the car for more than five minutes so pulls the lever up then stuffs a water bottle underneath to hold the handbrake on.Over the xmas period the car started playing up, instrument panel stops working, loses power but scarily the electric hydraulic pas stops working and sticks in one position momentarily.A scan then a quick google seems to point towards instrument cluster.Ebay finds a "previously enjoyed" instrument cluster with a 30 day guarantee for not much and a "previously enjoyed" handbrake mechanism for slightly more.I can get these parts and fitted in a few days but oh no.She has lost confidence in the car and the girls don't even want to get in it now so she wants another car.FFS another 3 year warranty battery and after a few weeks she's chucking the car away.

I’m sure I heard that badge delete was a cost option on either Bmw or mb

Don't understand the whole 'lost confidence in car' bollocks. It needs a few repairs...

/\ I liked it when Frank Zappa said 'Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe'

I'm sure her budget will stretch to something in which everyone concerned can have 110% confidence!!

The instrument cluster stops the PAS from working?

TBH I've had PAS cut out on me halfway around a corner and it was a bit brown trouser. I'm not saying she's right to scrap the car but I can understand the "losing confidence" bit when it's one thing after another.

EHPAS it's electric powered through the instrument cluster. I understand but just annoyed I've spent out on another battery only a few weeks ago.

70?

My Saab stops doing it above 12mph, same speed it turns off the auto recirculate on the heating to stop you sniffing fumes.

The Ford c-max's power steering reservoir and electric pump are underneath the driver's headlight. The fluid is, I think , mineral oil judging by it's colour. The rack itself has an angle sensor on it. With all the snowy wet weather it's possible the three different terminal blocks under the headlight could be waterlogged. I would have taken the headlight out to check but as my glamorous assistant said the instruments went down just before she lost power steering. When the dash powered up again the pas light came on.Maybe the constant low voltage then a fresh battery could've caused it hence the scan. There were a number of faults found but the two with communication error were the instrument cluster and electric pas pump.

That will be because it's against the law to drive over 70, so they probably thought they could save some money by not putting in the feature for illegal levels of speed. This way they only need to program it to work 70 times (or 71 including zero) making a massive saving by ignoring speeds of 71 to 150.

Its the same for reversing lights, they don't seem to work over 70mph either. Will buy anyone who can prove me wrong a pint.

I am generally in favour of making things greener, but not at the cost of the effectiveness of the product.

Todays example is the only decent oven and grill cleaner I have found here. You could tell it was good because it pretty much ripped your lungs out. It is now "new improved formula" With no caustic whatever and smells like mild deodorant. It also does literally fuck all... Aye thanks lads, gotta use the whole fucking tin now where a few squirts used to do it...much greener.

See also...all paint strippers, hammerite, in fact pretty much all exterior and metal paints....all ineffective shadows of what they used to be.

If it doesn't take the breath off you when you open the tin it's not going to work , the one that annoys the fuck out of me is modern toilets that can't dispose of a king kong's finger , how the fuck is it saving water if you have to flush the bastard 3 times

Bub's got a CVT Volvo hasn't he? They have some kind of limiter but its possible to disable it, then you can drive as fast backwards as you can forwards!

When I was writing that it did make me think of my old DAF but I suddenly remembered it couldn't do 70 going forwards either so stopped worrying.

:( didn't see that at all.

It's well hidden, on an entirely different page...
