The new test thing was down at the end of last week as well, my local garage is late converting and had a couple of other places send motors over to him on Friday or Saturday.

Well, if they tried to phone the contingency code maybe it did! You are supposed to issue paper documents and update as soon as the system comes back but if the blind panic I got from several stations today is anything to go by I'm the only one capable of reading.

Click the link in the email I quoted if you want to read how it's meant to happen.

Mozilla have defaulted to using the HMTL5 player for Youtube in Firefox 40. Should be good, everyone knows that Adobe Flash is a piece of shit and needs to die.

One thing however is that it doesn't fucking work, in true Mozilla not even half arsed any more style. Plays about 10% of videos, if that, the rest just showing a blank box, video with no controls, or one frame and a play button but nowt else.

Think there was one occasion that happened, with a Suzuki SJ410 from memory.

They spent a load of money putting a roll cage in, replacement engine, even painted the thing then the man from the ministry declared it needed a feck load of welding underneath so it was sold at a massive loss. Was quite interesting to see how it can go wrong, even for the pros.

Think that was the only time though.....

Yeh I remember that one, strange how big edd didn't see how bad it was when he had it on a lift half the programme.

They bought a rust free P5.

Engine needed no work. Not even the leather needed replacing.

Carlsberg P5, that's what it is.

What wd does highlight is just how hard it can be to make a profit from old cars, yes there have been a few that have made a good wedge of cash but I recon if they did it as a proper business the accountant would tell them to close down, if big edds labour was taken into account and fuel plus that Paul chap with his sooper expensive plate.

They don't even really fix anything anymore. All paint, refurb etc is all outsourced.

1600 quid for a set of headers. Fuck that.  buy 2 sets of cheapo £90 corsa ones off ebay forand get the mig out. I prefer to see the creative solutions to save money rather than just throwing cash at it.

It did look nice though.

That Panda 4x4 they've got coming up looks like a fucking disaster area.

WD - the first one or two series were pretty good. They had a low end budget, bought realistic cars and Ed got his hands dirty.

As each series progressed the budget became more and more unrealistic and out of reach for the majority of folk. The cars went heading off into the stratosphere and we started seeing Ferraris and bloody Lamborghinis on the show. Ed started doing less and less. Whereas his hair started to look ever more like a dead badger has been araldited on.

I watched the show last night and whilst they started off with a decent car, they lobbed cash where it didn't really need it. Ok so the carpets and steering pump needed doing, fair enough but 1600 quid on headers, yeah right. The hipster look eh?

I am hoping that the Panda 4x4 is what it looked like before they got their hands on it.

WD has just gone further along the journey to Fuckwit Land. I used to look forward to the early WD stuff, now it's just a bit more of a joke and a tedious one at that.

Each new series sees MB looking a bit more inflated. At least he is less orange now.

Can someone search for my last rant about people moaning about Top Gear and just paste it here with the name changed?

It's entertainment. It's got elements of fabricated drama. It's nice to see any work being done TBH, if you watch the other mainstream stuff (Car SOS, Gas Monkey etc) they just throw all new parts in and it's magically done. This series looks a little bit back down to earth, but hey - if your TV show took off and the production company were throwing cash at you, wouldn't you jet off to the states and buy a shedload of cars?

In my view, most of the time it does go wrong - because they rarely make enough to cover a full time mechanics labour. It's sort of illustrating the fact you do it for the hobby and to cover costs, but they point out time and time again that they're demonstrating how a home mechanic could do it - so Ed isn't paid, and yeah stuff that needs machine shops or paint gets sent off like you wouldn't skim a head using a wood plane on your kitchen worktop.

I hate WD more than most because its intended to appeal to those of us who actually do this sort of shit.

Course it's entertainment and I would be off to the States like a shot but dear deity, could they make it a bit less tedious. It's nearly as tedious as Car SOS but without the good cause aspect.

If I see Ed crack open one more ball joint I may have to hunt him down and scalp him. The scalping may take some time however.

I'm not sure it is, I'm sure it's intended for people who aren't sure what a diff does or how brakes work.

I like WD I just think it has moved a bit away from tarting up old snotters. Anyone remember the one when he made a balls of painting the capri wing? That's reality (for me anyway).

The problem is there isn't really a market for that sort of TV anymore. People simply aren't out in the drive spraying wings, rebuilding rear axles and the like.

Lets be honest, we're in a minority of a minority. What we want and expect from mainstream TV as far as our hobby goes is pie in the sky.

There simple isn't the market for it... anyway, there is plenty of that kind of thing on youtube though it you know where to look.

Opps...

Dont the trailers show it being a nice blue one (makes a change from white). I won't say it's a rare car but 4x4 ones were uncommon years ago. Why do that to one now?

If it's the attitude of "sod it it's only a panda" then I think a nice off road conversion of a Porsche or something should be next as they're just a car too.

Tbh wheeler dealers isn't that bad, you can fast forward through the boring bits see actually stuff get fixed not just always replaced and it's still better than tons of other brain dead crap on other channels
