Dint won't it neway

I got one 90 minutes later saying 'I'm in work, you can't view it today.' I messaged back and said I had the cash and wanted to buy it, but I was going to leave it as it seems it's impossible to actually view the car.

I reckon it won't start or something and they're stalling for time, it's bloody daft because I don't care about the engine so it doesn't matter that much (excpet when I tried to chisel the price down more) but bollocks to 'em.

Be a little bit careful if you are buying a shell for you 1.5td........if you get the hanging o/s top mount as per something like an 8v 1.2 it is not a straightforward swap.

I found out the hard way when retro fitting hydraulic pas. Not especially difficult.........though bravery required!

500 miles 20 gallons of fuel (avg 24.7 mpg in the end) 1 pie and 1 burrito and I still have the same flippin car. I'm a bit pissed off as the sl was a stunner but having tried to debug floppy top woes on a Saab I really don't want to go through it again .

The cl is an easy car to do 500 miles in given it can massage your back and blow cold air up your trouser cravas if not a bit dangerous for the license given it's ability to pile on speed.

Anyone want to buy it?

Will swap for polo, plus cash my way:)

Today I almost emulated one of my musical heros* earlier today.

Went over to long time lurker no time poster Beige1100's house to do the oil change on the Saab. Pumped up the tyre which goes flat over the course of a week and left the engine running to warm the oil. Willy the local tame welder came round to weld the floor of Beige1100's Limeflower 1100. Had a little chat and then needed to move Mrs the Princess' Brown (and newly Moted after Willy did a metric tonne of welding) Metro out of the workshop. I moved the Saab out of the way and parked the Metro up. Willy started the welding and I got the Saab back onto the concrete to do the oil change. Lots of smoke from the 1100 and Willy asking how the bonnet opens to put it out. I stop the Saab to get out and open it, wasn;t quite in Park, more in a sort of reverse-type gear so as I get out it moves back. I try to whack the handbrake on to slow it down and change gears but not before the open door hits the back of the LDV400. This stops the Saab, ripping the check strap off the door and leaving a massive crease in the door and knocks the trim off the wing.

I had arranged to sell to an AS member’s family but I can fully appreciate that it may no longer be wanted. I will try and take the door apart next Sunday to push the worst of it out. May need to keep it and use for a while to stop feeling bad about the car.

Stupid Bastard.

Cheers, I didn't know that. Progress is a bit slow (understatement) here so I might just whang the engine, box, drive shafts, mounts and possibly fyuel tank out and stash them somewhere for now. Or just eff it off and get my garage back for the next stupid thing that comes along.

If they don't want it missus moog will have it. She will no doubt dent the other door to match 😊

oh bugger :( Sorry about the Saab, did the 1100 continue burning?

Brian Harvey, that's a name I haven't heard in quite a while. I used to see him all the time charging about Watthamstow in a badly barried 3 series.

Vectra comments aside, I'd bloody love your car but I'm now commited to buying something else. Is there a Mercedes forum you can advertise it on and have your tried Piston Heads?

It's not bad.....you remove the hanging bracket from the o/s chassis rail. The other engines sit on a foot which bolts to a mount that goes kind of inside the chassis rail. You have to cut the hole for this mount.......the chassis leg is double skinned in this area and the holes are in the inner skin so you just have to cut the hole and 'find' them.

Not as hard as it sounds.

I found this out after buying a non pas car thinking ' how hard can it be' expecting just a nut and bolt job.

E17 - the shiteists choice.

No, managed to get the bonnet open (sticky release thing) and put out the flame. Seems it was brake fluid that had dripped or been spilt when filling the master cylinder above.

Today just feels like one of those days, one of those where little things just cheerfully go wrong because they can.

I've had trouble trying to find certain brands of stuff for shopping that pretty much every supermarket in the Black Country cannot honestly be arsed to stock.

Lady_Sterling has found out that she cannot travel to the British Embassy in Beirut due to travel restrictions on Syrians. This is just after I paid for a Visa, so now I have to go through the shitty process of asking for my money back.

Ma_Sterling has asked for some payslips from me for something to do with her sick pay. Can I get recent payslips? Can I fuck, website cannot honestly be arsed to work despite having the correct screen name/password.

So I give up, everything off, doors shut, lights off and computer device directed to Autoshite. Today can fuck off.

However, with Imp Jr. on the way, Mrs Imp being made redundant and owning 3 properties with mortgages*, I just cant afford to spend what is currently £27.50 (£12.50 + £15 postage) on it despite the fact I would be THE coolest person on the planet with this on the back of the Visa.

Saw E17 live about 5 years ago at a local party in the park type event.

They were FUCKING AWFUL! Shockingly bad.

Honestly, the last act after an all day free bar karaoke party would be more in tune.

Anyone want a tax exempt Triumph 1500FWD in Damson with grey vinyl interior.  I am unhappily bored with it. Don't know why. I just am.

Last week, DHL left a yellow card saying I'd missed a delivery (I was out at work). Fair enough.

The yellow card told me the packet was waiting at my local delivery office in Leeds. Not particularly local - Leeds is 75 miles away - but on Friday evening, after work, I set off for Leeds. Fair enough.

Arrive at the DHL office in Leeds, to be told that they didn't have the packet because it was being held in a satellite office in Hull, contrary to the yellow card's information, so I'd driven 150 miles for nothing. NOT FAIR ENOUGH.

Before leaving, the DHL employee at Leeds told me that the Hull office is open until noon on Saturdays. So, on Saturday, I set out for Hull (35 miles from home), arriving at the DHL hull address at 11.30am to find locked-up premises. NOT FAIR ENOUGH.

DHL can boil their collective heads and do one. -0.6/10 FOR COMMUNICATION, WUD NOT TRUST TO DELIVER A KICK TO THE FACE

I usually get DHL to redeliver to Staples by going online, deciphering the awful handwriting on my outcard and choosing a pick-up point.

It only went wrong once when I sent it to a Rymans instead, they had it for one day and returned it - and were proper snotty when I went in, saying they'd had it a week. So I produced both the redelivery email, and the original order for something I bought five days prior. I complained to DHL, they complained to Rymans for me, and I got a £20 gift card.

I was due to finish at 23.21. I'm currently lying under my B10M shift bus in the workshop after it ate it's alternator belts... on the way back from rescuing a Mercedes Vario which had also eaten it's alternator belt. I currently have an allocation of nine vehicles and two currently work; out of those two (a 25-seat Mercedes bus and a 96-seat Dennis Dominator) I need to find a 61-seater, a 16-seater with 3-point seatbelts and a 96-seater for the morning run out at 7.30am.

Fun fact, my Dad was Brian Harvey's junior school headmaster.   I used to see him tearing up Woodford New Rd when he had upgraded to a badly driven M3.

The road tax is 'free ' but sadly the car isn't. Value around £1100, a grand to anyone on here. It could do with a carpet set and an oil leak looking at. That's it. Pretty wee car but not lighting my fire.

SRSLY, I'd do a 'proper' advert for it, Ken. It must have at least a fighting chance of finding a home on here.

Was hoping to get strip foundations poured for my conservatory. I dug the footings in November.

Ground is still far too wet - I honestly do not know when I will get the stuff down.

Should have left it as a patio - balls to a conservatory.

I'm looking at potential replacement cars on ebay.  Actually that should read looking for rather than at.  I've just waded through ten pages of "classic cars", ordered by distance from me.  10 pages gets me over 200 miles, which is further than I really want to go for a car.  Everything, literally everything, is either scrap/German/modern/20 times the price it should be, or a combination of the above.  None of which is what I'm looking for.

It's very depressing.  I might have a word with some of the local banger lads, see if they know of anything.

Can't sleep and didn't have anything else to read so for some reason thought I would look at retro rides..... Wtf? Almost every car in the "readers ride" section is now fucked. No matter what it is or its age it's lowered and then an engine swap??

Maybe it's me and I just don't get it. Why do they all need more power*? What does it matter that it's a tiny bit lower? If I wanted to drive a car with a modern engine and suspension I'd buy one not fuck up an old one ruining it beyond repair.

The final straw was some silly twat has put a mk4 escort on a sierra floor to make it rwd. It makes no sense.......

Weren't Gartrac doing that in the 80s, and Ford doing that in the 90s with the Escort Cosworth? :-)
