The grumpy thread

My dad is in a bad way in hospital, I am full of flu, Vistaprint are (currently) being massively wank over the next lot of calendars and the lovely lady who runs the Post Office I use to send calendars from was very badly beaten up by some lowlife thieving wankers a few weeks ago.

Best wishes to you and Cav Senior, Billy. Hope he gets well soon.

All the best to You and your Dad Cav, doesn't seem to be any good news about at the moment.

As for the Post Office lady, I don't know why anyone bothers to try their best, work hard and provide a valuable service to the public anymore, I was on a course at work  this week and was told NEVER challenge anyone who is stealing or attacking someone, I mentioned that last year I saw 2 scroates with bolt cutters trying to steal a £900 mountain bike from the rack at work and shouted at them to desist and go forth and multiply (don't get me wrong I was 50 yards away and ready to run like hell if they had shown any signs of coming towards me, total coward that I am) and was told that 'I should not have put myself in immediate danger'

I mean what hope is there for society when the absolute scum of the fucking earth have carte blanche to rob and attack anyone or anything they feel like.

I have a short but somewhat sharp crowbar at home, just in case mind, if anything needs crowbarring or something. Is within fairly easy reach and so on. That kind of 'oooh, don't do anything kind of stuff just annoys me, why let twats get away with things. It gives them a sense of invulnerability I think. To quote a phrase - 'pussy whipped' society. I hoped they pissed off when you bellowed at them.

So sorry to hear about the dads on the forum, sad stuff in both cases. None of us are getting any younger but it kind of hits home at times like this. Sadly both of my old 'uns passed away many years ago, still shitty and I miss them tons. With that list of cars your dad would have fitted in perfectly here Cheggers :)

Thoughts with both of you guys.

Work are taking on another agency to supply lorry drivers, except theyre on MUCH more than the full time drivers like me and we are banned from leaving, joining the agency and coming back on more £££.

Mother fuckers.

Mother fuckers.

If the pay you get is 2/3 of the agency pay just do 2/3 the work;)

Seriously though, the agency worker is unlikely to see all the money as the agency will take some cash off for services provided.

Lastly, despite it not appearing fair, gotta remember that the folks are just out to pay their bills like everyone else.

Good luck and hope you get it worked out:)

Thinking of you, Cav...things can only get better (other wank political anthems are available).

That's wank about the agency, the agency takes a lions share of what the company pay them, we get guys in at work and after all is done they are on about 60p an hour more than me and don't get paid travelling mileage like most agencies also there's no job security

I'm cold. Boiler's broken. This is not terribly surprising since the model has something of a reputation:

60p would be one thing, nearly 6 quid is taking the piss. Agency do less work as they don't like them driving loaded trucks, full timers pick up the slack.

Suddenly folk who dither at roundabouts and don't indicate seem pretty insignificant. My deepest condolences Cheggers and I hope your dad pulls through Billy. Even better if they nab the post office bastards too.

As said, really sh1tty news. You have my sympathy Cheggers, I hope things start improving for you soon; also hope that your Dad makes a speedy recovery Billy.

In health-related grumpiness, I've just returned from a visit to Family_Duke down south, where my sister is confined to bed after the latest (and by far the worst) in a series of major breakdowns. She's currently dosed up on anti-psychotic meds, and my Mum, in her late 60s herself, is going to be moving in with her for the foreseeable future - the alternative would basically be that my sister gets sectioned. The main cause of her current MH issues is her utter wankstain of a husband, who despite having moved out months ago, is still trying to control her and screw with her head, without actually doing anything that he can be arrested for. I really need to be there, not 250 miles away, so I can support her and take some pressure off my parents, but I'm limited by annoying circumstances to visiting whenever I can - never frequently enough or for long enough though. Massively frustrating.

Cheg, Cav, Duke: virtual manhugs now, real pint in the hopefully not-too-distant future.

Charles Warner in Lincoln loses Vauxhall franchise

Sadly sounds like another example of a local dealer with strong ties to its customers being replaced by a big group.

I still remember going there with my dad in 1983 as he was looking for a Mk 2 Cav. I sat in the back of a brand-new Chevette in the showroom and had to ask the salesman how to close the door. 'With the handle,' he said. 'What handle?' I replied... Good old quality control... an entire part missing from the interior.

Could be worse... our old 'Ferroli' had to have all its spare parts shipped direct from Italy, of which it needed many, by cycle courier I believe they used

Every time I come on here to grump I see folk having proper bad times and I suddenly lose the urge to complain.   Health and family are all too easily taken for granted.   Cheggers, Cav, Duke I do not know you guys but we are connected thru shite.  If there was a "share your pain" button as well as just a "like" one I would press it.....

At the risk of sounding like a morbid grumpy bastard, there are a lot of people on here nowadays and the law of averages means that someone on here will be undergoing something fairly awful pretty much every day of the week. If they post up their very personal family/health/debt/other problems and then everyone offers their 'thoughts' you could fill up a whole internet with e-condolances pretty much straight away. I've been to hospital today and had a camera inserted into my bell end but I'll say now, its very kind of but theres no need to offer me any thoughts. just pretend you don't know anything about it.

I'm just pointing this out BTW, all shiters can of course vigorously ignore it if they like their shit old car chat light entertainment laced with a garnish of assorted strangers' personal tragedy. Carry on!

How old is your sister? Sorry to hear about that, it's a very traumatic experience for everyone involved. There's nothing wrong with being sectioned as the doctor has time to 'evaluate' the patient, and I know this sounds bad, it is some sort of relief on the family who have to care for her.

Sorry to hear about the bad news Cheggers, and hope you dad gets better soon Billy.

Sorry to hear about the camera in your jap's eye Mr Bollox.

Mr Duke, your sis may not necessarily have to be sectioned. She could seek an informal admission, which would, as Station says, give the team a chance to properly assess her and make sure her meds are right. It would give Ma & Pa Duke some respite and also make sure she is safely away from her cock-knocker of a husband. Additionally, if a safeguarding issue is raised concerning said cock-knocker, there may be more of a chance of getting professional help to deal with him.

Bolls, hope your coppers helmet isn't too tender. Are you sure it was a camera and not a Reliant dipstick? ;)

It's a horribly complicated situation - she's 45 with two kids aged 12 and 10, and the 12-yr-old has fairly major 'issues' of her own. Were it not for the children, I'd agree that sectioning would be the best option, but if/when she starts divorce proceedings, it could complicate the custody decision. She is getting really good help from the MH Crisis Team, so that's something.

Sporty-shite: She would never voluntarily admit herself. She is attending outpatient appointments to regulate her meds, but that's the only time she leaves her house. I think we will eventually have to try and get some kind of restraining order against her husband, but that will be a major challenge in itself.

Yeah, same here. I remember having a 70cm tube up my 'arris when I was a teenager, and that was bad enough. I do hope they anaesthetised you sufficiently.

Fair point sir. Although not entirely tactful. I assume that we are not all 'assorted strangers' though.
