My next "rant" of the day.

I assumed that the switch in my SD1's fuel sender was kaput because I was actually looking at the gauge when the needle went into freefall. The item lives in a harsh environment, assuming you can afford to keep an SD1 filled up.

I asked somebody I know to get me another one, out of curiosity I cleaned the connections and voila, the bastard came to life.

At least I will have a spare.

Fucksticks.

Cheggers, nothing much I can say that hasn't been said, so I'll just send some silent thoughts.

Hope the other things get sorted, too. As obvious as it sounds, try and look after yourself. There's no reward for a stiff upper lip.

My thoughts are with you Cheggers.

Good grumpy skills there, a problem fixed with zero effort or expense and you're still moaning

Sorry for your loss, Cheggers. That's rough.

I never know what to say with these things, but condolences for your father Cheggers and I hope the treatment gets better.

Wife came in with some "bargains" from the January sales.

Christmas baubles. Just what you need in January when you are on the bones of your arse.

Just blown £2016 on the dog.

The fact she's home and on the mend is in the 'what makes you happy' thread :)

I am unable to post pictures now for some reason. Write the text, click on choose photo, nothing! Just crashes. Back to the forums page! Clearly a problem my end as everyone else can upload pics.( IPad using Dolphin browser)

Money well spent if she is ok.

I feel your pain! Never mind. Next Christmas you will be posting 'Mrs Bren has saved us ££££s' in the Grin Thread!

Time fixes everything!

To be honest I am thinking of contacting the moderator to see if the "grumpy old man" thread can be changed to the "Bren" thread as I seem to be posting on here more than anywhere.

My other half says that I am turning into Victor Meldrew (she would), I tell her that it's not me, it's other people.

Maybe you should change your avatar Victor? :-)

Took a new permanent marker to college to write on metal and stuff. Had it one day and some twat has nicked it. Annoyed as I had left it in a glove and it was special* and cost 2 quid

Worth every penny as long as she's better

Just bide your time. As it was left in a glove just wait until someone takes off their gloves in spring. The one with the black hand gets a shoeing.

Thanks for the kind words. To give you a flavour of my Dad, here's a list of his cars I remember from my childhood:

Mark 2 Cortina (whatever happened to YGU983G)

Mark 3 Cortina Estate

Datsun 260c (I loved that car)

Morris Ital 1.7HL

Sierra 4x4 Ghia Estate

The smell of a 70's Ford mixed with Woodbines brings back many happy memories ;)

Alas it was my glove I left it in so no luck in finding the black fingernail :-(

Today's events in Paris. I walked home through Trafalgar Square and whilst sombre it was quite galvanising to see the depth of support for our French cousins.

Oh bleedin wonderful, there i am raising the tank this morning at Bristol, got it two rams up, pop whoosh, bloody main tipping pipe burst, about 10 gallons of hydraulic oil squirted up the back of the cab, splattering back off there up over the roof through the wind deflector and down the windscreen, up the front of the tank too of course and eventually down onto the floor.

About 40 soak up mats and 4 x 25kg bags of oil dri just about coped with it, managed to contain it so fortunately nothing went into the drains, the bloody stuffs evil, we have a long sock sort of thing in the spill kit supposed to contain the spill, did it bollocks.

Britain First and their moronic believers are at it again. This time it's a (non-)story from 2013, some shit about Angola banning Islam. Naturally all the two bob knobheads are out in force saying it should happen in the UK etc.

After thinking 'this laptop screen is shit' for the past two years I have now discovered the brightness button. Voila! Actual colour. Fujitsu = good (and weirdly has 'Made in Germany' stamped by its serial number)
