Ok - I have 3590 posts behind me and could say the same. Hell I hardly ever bother posting now except my Ebay stuff in the members thread. Spotted threads - Decent informative help threads etc seem to fall by the wayside but Banger threads / attacking other members threads seem to roll on.

Nah, it was way worse last year. Apart from the Banger Racing threads it's been pretty good on here of late, winter is always less busy as it's too flipping cold. Last year we had a series of threads on how bad it was, how it wasn't so bad, etc. We have has some cracking collection and build threads of late. Spotted threads have always suffered as they always slip down the forum as it's hard to comment on them. Perhaps we need one big spotted thread for those without huge spotted threads to keep the thread near the top with lots of updates.

I agree with CtP - people always whinging about "fings ain't what they used to be" has for a long time been one of the biggest irritations about AS. Actually, the inevitable dross aside, there's a lot good, in fact great, about it.

Slightly O/T from the last few threads but I am in a grump. Can the good people of this world please stop scrapping Ford Focus's that are of any use to someone. Went to my local scrapyard yesterday and there's another four or five waiting to be crushed, just because people are wasteful and won't spend £100 on getting it through an M.o.T. One Focus needed a bit for the back axle but they couldn't be bothered and so weighed it in! :( if anyone does know of a good Focus going begging then I'd be interested...

All modern internet forums are shit, 1980s forums were the best of evah.

Probably because they don't want to go through the hassle of dealing with cheap car buyers.

I haven't even bothered reading the Banger thread, much less contributed. Can't say my life is any worse for it...........

Not a particular fans of Focuses but I do agree, the way things are wasted (not just cars) like this really annoys me.

Someone was supposed to be coming to view the Saab today, well, between 11-12:00. It's now gone 14:00, so I guess another no show ... Wankers.

My brother keeps flip-flopping with his cars. It seems every car he gets bored of - usually after a few months when something breaks, as is normal for cheap old cars - he regrets getting rid of as soon as the replacement breaks something after a few months of ownership. He had a Skoda Felicia estate, spent a good chunk of cash getting it sorted, it needed more spending on it but it was cheap, he liked it and it did all he needed it to do. Then it had a persistant oil leak and an injector issue, both things he could resolve, but he got rid for a chavved up Saxo. Said Saxo started to give headaches again, after he'd spent some time and money resolving the issues it had, so he junked it for a Picasso. Said Picasso has now had some problems with the clutch and a few niggles but is otherwise far superior to the Skoda or Saxo but he's looking at swapping it for a 3 years newer Mondeo with problems (I don't know what these problems are). I wonder what his next car will be in another 3-6 months when the Mondeo goes tits up?

I realised today that I've had the Princess for a year now, but I've not had 12 months of driving out of her because of shittiness in 2012. I hope that'll change once I have the cash for the MoT and Tax. Finally, I've managed to misplace the wind deflectors I salvaged from the above Skoda as they look very similar in profile to the BX door frames and I want to see if they'll fit. If not, they'll be up for grabs.

Dear new members who dislike Mondeos.

You see that button at the end of the keyboard that either says "Shift" or has an upwards-pointing arrow? - That's how you do CAPITAL FUGGIN' LETTERS

And yes, I am a pedantic twat when I put my mind to it

For those interested in the wastefulness of modern society and the reasons behind it, have a look at The Lightbulb Conspiracy documentary on planned obsolesence etc etc. GR9 to watch, and largely free from bias.

My father died yesterday after a long battle against cancer.

He was holding out so he could see his new grandson (my sisters son). He died not long after. He had been sent home from hospital although neither we or he new how little time he had left, the hospital knew.

He was a great influence on my car choices he loved the maxi and the 14. They were cars I grew up with in the eighties. He enjoyed my old chod and was very supportive.

Feeling numb at the moment.

RIP dad.

Really sorry to hear that, man. Keep strong and never forget the good times you had.

Sorry to hear that, I lost my Dad when I was 24, it hurts. :(

Sorry to hear that. I lost my Dad 2 and bit years ago after a 3 year battle against the Big C. I lost an old mate as well 2 weeks ago - I'm glad I managed to see him a couple of days before he passed away.

You never hear of anyone nasty dying like this, only the good folk, friends and the ones you love.

Thanks for messages they are very kind.

Indeed it is always those who least deserve it who seem to suffer the most.

Paid £250 to get the Subaru (value= £500) through its MOt today :?:(

That's not particularity cheap, but without an MOT it's only worth scrap value.
