My Mum has had a fall, been in the bathroom at least four hours, possibly all day. She is conscious but very confused. Sister with her and paramedics on way but fucking hate being so far away at times like this.

Bloody hell. Hope she's ok.

Thanks, just heard that the ambulance has ruled out a heart attack (she is a mid 80s survivor of four) and is conscious at A and E but no idea how long it will take. Not sure whether to hang on here for news or just head out......

Pack a bag at least, how far have you got to go?

It’s about three hours, my sister has been brilliant and held the fort overnight. Turns out she had a fall earlier in the week and now has pneumonia and very low blood pressure. She is also incredibly confused and has been telling the doctors she was putting some screws in (as you do in your nightie with no teeth in and no screws or screwdrivers) and couldn’t get up. For a smoker in her mid 80s who has had four heart attacks she is a tough old bird so hopefully she will be ok. This is all on top of my sister finding out her lad has terminal cancer last week, shit start to 2019 :-(

I've lost a few close relatives in recent years to cancer and old age. One thing I have learnt is to be there with your family when it all goes to shit because you never know when the lights are going to go out. It involves several frustrating trips back and forth and a tonne of messing about but once they're gone, they're gone and if you miss the final hour then at least you tried. I regret not making the time to see my Grandad off, a great man. Distance and bloody work was the issue there, a job I couldn't give a crap about now as it's well in the past.

Best wishes with this.

Difficult decision about going or not. Only you can decide.

Weekends almost here.

Go with how you feel.

I didn’t want to be in the way last night so just sat around waiting to hear more. I am going up today but may not get to see her properly as I still have this damned chest infection so don’t want to add to the problems and will go up again tomorrow with the family. I didn’t realise last night that they had not taken her to the little local hospital but one that takes 40 minutes off the round trip for me which helps. It’s also closer for all the family bar one so will work well if she has to stay there any length of time. It’s a good job I didn’t go last night as I would have been at the wrong hospital! I never even thought to ask.

This is why I hate 206CCs.

My mum's stopped us both from sharing our last moments with my nan after it ground to a halt just outside Rochdale with a failed clutch. The Peugeot was a sub 20k, always garaged example that was pampered - none of which stopped it from rusting at 18 months old thanks to Heuliez's uniquely lackadaisical approach to longevity.

It was traded in for another car with a ripple in the door from where I roundhouse kicked it in frustration, the piece of shit.

Liked for the kick, not the rest. I'd have set it on fire I think

The danger of social media is proper scary. I used to be content with Austins and Morrises, harmless and a doddle to fix. Then I found this place, bought a wanked out Freelander, and now I'm self-harming.

I've advised them that they are in breach of due process, to download all the emails off the server and put them out of the organisation's reach and contact the Union.  I've also explained the law to them and advised that any further contact with management on this matter should be through the Union and to not go to them directly.

I described the whole thing to my colleague as 'Pushing my Leftie Button'.  Which about sums it up.

It may help to do a £10  "data access request" to have copies of email, personnel files, meeting minutes, logged phone calls etc so basically anything which may be presented at a disciplinary meeting. I suspect the organisation a bit like the one I used to be employed by so part of the issue is not being able to get through the layers of management.

OMGNOKAOS in Brussels for sure. It is only a 7-8min haul down the dual carriageway to the office...…. Bulgarian twin wheel Iveco off in the brush..... Some new VW Tiguan decided it would prefer to get into the trees...….. and another blob box I couldn't identify as it was still covered in snow - had side-swiped a van.

Winter tyres not a requirement over here - but they fucking should be - the Belgians are bloody useless on the roads at the best of times!

You’re Sandwich way, right?

Honestly, the snow isn’t that bad. It’s the twat lorry driver that fucked up this morning and blocked off the only realistic route out of my town...

On the topic of Grandads, I witnessed my Grandfather’s death back in 2012. Seriously messed me up for a long time but I don’t regret having been there. I do regret the fact that my Mum and Grandmother were on the way to the hospital at the time and were just a little too late.

I was holding my great grandmothers hand when she went and also my grandfather I was stood at end of bed and my sister was cuddling him then he just went. My mum died when I was 8 years old and my memory of her was kissing me and saying love you loads and I'll see you on Sunday. Never seen her again, she was 32. My mum's parents have been close to me all my life. My grandad was a big strapping bloke and took no shit. Sadly lost him in 2007. My nanna is now 81 and I'm going to be in bits when anything happens to her.

Royal Fail, what a bunch of monkeys minges.

I want to send a small 2.2kg parcel, 32 x 26 x 13 (whilst I'm doing all the colanders, haven't got time to fanny around finding a less convenient carrier and because NI/IRL).

Why the fook do they charge the same (or less if you're counting the VAT) for a 2nd Class untracked with £20 cover, when you can get £100 cover on a tracked 48? Bonkers.

It's a good job I am fully capable of scrolling down a list.

(Don't get me started on that 1st Class con either!)

Don't really know what you're moaning about, tbh. Couldn't pay my water bill again this month and United Utilities sent me a 'Get well soon' card.

Indeed,

How is life in the village of the damned these days? I don't get over that way much now.

No snow here (but quite a few cars with the white stuff aplenty on their roofs) but it is freezing cold and blowing a gale. Just took Chester to the park and after a very short period even he wanted to come home - this is unheard of! Normally us dog walkers are a hardy breed but today there was not another soul (canine or human) to be seen.

I was so cold when I got home, I have just had dinner! This may be the first steps on the graceless fall into old age but it did warm me up.

Why is it, for all the billion stupid cardboard boxes I've had floating around the kitchen, I can' find one suitable for packing the last mug!

I know it's been said before but why the fuck can't people that fix shit (builders etc) just do or don't do what you ask them instead of fannying about.

Want a new sink unit top and toilet seat for bathroom. Bloke who fitted it says yeah he'll do it. Excellent you've now only been silent for two months. Pointless asking him as he always says he forgot I'll just buy it and eventually get him to fit it.

Main one though is the Frontera osf Bush noise is getting worse. Took it to the garage I always use. 'I'm busy' he says. No shit all I want you to do is say yes you can do it and book it in.

No. He can do it but when, no idea. I can't book I'll just have to ring up (he's shit on the phone) or bring it down multiple times, er no I won't I'll get someone else thanks.

Why turn down a job and money?

I'm sure work think i'm lying or the most jinxed man.

Yesterday morning first drop, I'm early but work put me on an odd run. Their cleaning pipe had frozen and so they hadn't cleaned the tank, the guy tries to warm the pipe.... It shatters covering him in acid. ( He was fine, it's not skin dissolving toxic shit, it washes off) Nearly two hours later, I discover my pipes are a little frozen.

Let's get to the second drop. "You'll be a while" I asked if the tank was clean, it was. However there was no electricity. I asked to the entire building, the street??? No, just the room I needed. Ten minutes and two blokes with a laptop later its OK.

This morning, first drop and all goes well.... Sorta, I always pull on padlocks when I lock something. This fucker wasn't locking so I just gave it to the security guard. Not that exciting but there you go.

....

Today I get back to the yard and empty my wagon as it's a Friday and I don't need this filthy hoodie or my utensils.... I. switch tankers and my headlight blows, which I'm going to say was a one off.

I drive to Goole for a fill-up of diesel and costa if I can get parked (I can't) the anti syphon on my fuel tank, fucks me and I'm soaked in diesel. My spare, admittedly filthy hoodie in my car...

Drop 1 of the day, I tell them I'm here.... 20 odd minutes later I walk around the building, annoyed and stinking of diesel. (Febrezze didnt help) the guy was just back off his dinner and noone told him. I start the delivery and it's moving at 0.5 litres a second.(Usuallly 6 ish and tops out at 9) my pipes are empty, so I ask if his are frozen? "Nope"

... OK, I can't deliver 6000 litres at 0.5 I'll be here in 2035. I wait 5 minutes, he's rubbing the pipes like fucking Pocahontas trying to find something. We hear a bang as ice gets fed through his pump and away we go.

Drop 2 of the day, I decide to either kill myself or have a fancy pot noodle as I'm hungry. Which I can't, as my cutlery is in my fucking car. So I'm eating a Rocky caramel, a Twirl and a Viscount, swilled down with a Dr Pepper.

Treated the saph to a new 4 branch manifold, not only did it take 2 weeks for them to make, despite ordering with the correct part number it doesn't fit obviously it's a lhd one they knocked up even as it won't even get close to fitting due to it hitting the bulge in the gearbox where the starter bolts to, to top it off I can't even 're fit the old one as it crumbled when I removed it, to top it off the person at the manufacturers can't show the boss my pictures until monday.

Thought I'd use the Defender last week, I generally don't like using it a lot in winter as the salty roads aren't exactly good for the chassis.

Driving into Bury St Edmunds and it dies on me, engine light on, engine ticking over but it won't rev. I managed to get off the road as there quite a few irate drivers behind me. I switch it off, start it up again and it will rev but it's running like a bag of poo. I limp into town and it gradually improves the further I go. I stop at the retail outlet I was intending to visit and forget half the stuff I wanted due to being sick with worry that I may be spending the rest of the evening waiting for the AA.

It starts first time, sounds good so I risk a trip to the next retail outlet where I forget a bit less but the worry is still there. It starts and revs again so I head home with my arsehole twitching like a rabbits nose. It doesn't miss a beat all the way home, in fact it seems to run GR8.

Perusal of the internet yields nothing conclusive, even if I had a Nanocom. There are murmurs of throttle potentiometer issues or ECU issues, but nothing definite.

Yesterdays promise of OMGSNOKAOS forced me to use it again, and it ran like a dream, same again today.

Nobody likes an engine fault, but an intermittent one sucks.
