The grumpy thread

We seem to be in need of Inspector Pooseau at work today. Someone has pinched the flush mech out of one of the cisterns. Bizarre

Feeling your pain Dave, hope you sort it soon.

Tried to get hold of the lad who did engine change in same car, can't get a bloody number for him anywhere sorry.

The only (hopefully useful) bit of gen. I did get was that he used the radiator out a 1.7 dizzler Astra as it fits in better due to being slightly smaller.

Everything works mate, all I need to do is suss out the blue/red wiring that connects to the immobiliser ring on the ignition barrel. Other thing to do is get another dashboard loom with immobiliser wiring and fit that AGAIN. It just hurts to have to get public transport to and from scrapyards!

Dave, briefly caught up with the lad who converted his Astra last night. I couldn't remember what your problem with your car was but the lad said he found a black wire tucked away behind the glovebox and this was the main feed he needed. He then ran a wire from this somewhere. Hope this helps.

I'm going to grumble about the quality of grumbling on here, gotta be honest theres some fairly pathetic complaints getting thrown up. If your house has been nicked by joyriders and burned out, your kitten has been run over by a steamroller or your little brother has shat on your best silk shirt while your attention was diverted, then fair enough you've got something to complain about, but many of these 'complaints' could be dealt with by a clip round the ear and a comment like 'pull yourself together man FFS'.

'OMG I'm skint!!!! cos i've paid for two holidays and turned what little money I did have, into hot piss'.... get a grip!!!

They all are to the people who post them. Still think this thread is worthwhile to keep the griping off other threads.

The main focus of my whinging there was about being annoyed with myself for being crap with money. And paperwork.

Yeah I know there are people in lot worse situations!

So there.

Customer service - don't make me laugh :x:x:x

Called in at the local halfrauds needing some stuff includng their paint wipes. None on the shelf so I see a spotty oik and ask him. He says they are in the middle of a stock order so there may be some and call back tomorrow.

I explained to the reject that I had called today so I could do the job tomorrow so could he look now for me.

No was his reply - so fuck them the half witted excuses for life and a shop - I shall find my stuff from elsewhere following their first class show of customer service :x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x

and breathe....... :(:(

Now rather than get riled, you could have asked to see the most expensive stereo in the shop, got them to get that, speakers, connectors and any other tat together for you and take it and put it through the till. Then you just say, that you'll leave it for now

Before saying you'll leave it for now, ask to buy the whole lot on one of their storecards :D

If you have Sky and a ipod touch or iphone you can download the Sky app and see what's on via that and even set up programs to record, Quite a handy little app if you have sky that is.

Some people...

...tried to get my old Saxo I had back off the car dealer today. He said my Ka was worth a measly £300! I told him where to go of course. No Saxo.

Just been to have a look at an L-reg Mk3 Astra, 1.8 'Cesaro' model in Norwich.

When I got there the engine was already warm which is not a good sign. Started it up and the revs rocketed to 2k and stayed there, and then I found the clutch biting point is near the top! A crock of shit and a wasted journey, despite it looking really good and rust-free in the pictures.

To quote Michael Ryan - "I wish I had stayed in bed".

To be fair to the dealer, he has probably seen a dozen 1997 Kas with crumbly sills and a snowballs chance of an MOT.

Dont get me wrong - I like Kas but they are serial rusters.

Mine has good sills and 9 month's MoT in it's favour. Even the petrol cap isn't rusty!

I think it was more a case of greed than anything else

VOC forum members and their tragic use of comprehension in a buying context.

Here is a step by step guide about how to enquire about items, VOC forum style.

1. See item that you would like. Think 'I'd quite like that'.

2. Forget you saw the item and watch said article drop off the for sale listings on to the second or third page.

3. Suddenly remember 'I still quite want [said thing]'. Do not bother to view for sale post again accessible by clicking on '2' or '3' (depending on age) at the bottom left of the forum navigation. This is too hard and will impinge on question time which is very important because the advert which definitely isn't still there doesn't mention anything about price, pictures or intended function of components portrayed herein.

4. Contact vendor [me]. Ignore everything previously posted with helpful points of assistance like 'pictures' and 'asking price', and ask pointless questions like 'any pics?' and 'price?'. These are clearly marked in the advert post which was viewed and forgotten about. The pictures haven't changed and neither have the price.

5. Offer idiotic \ insulting price \ ask for the items to be trailered to the arse end of beyond \ leave a phone number expecting the vendor to call you up on a mobile number and do all the work \ expect a massive drop in price because you haven't got any money (blah blah non original mirrors dribble bling blah).

6. Infuriate vendor by continuing to ask the same questions already answered in the post and by PM in a single line sub literate fashion. Ask one question per PM over several days when one message with three paragraphs would have covered all the salient points.

7. Seller [me] gets annoyed and responds in kind.

Repeat ad nauseum causing vendor to repeatedly take breaks from posting on said forum lest it brings on another one of those tension headaches that causes everything about interior doors to lose their hinges and fly through the air and nothing to do with the extreme mental lethargy of 90% of Amazon owners on the VOC forum.

The VOC forum really is full of grunting mongs. There's a guy who keeps posting 700/900 parts sales and wants but as far as I can tell nobody has ever succeeded in trading with him.

If you go back far enough on VOC you will find one eddyramrod..... Yes, me! I still miss my 740...

RWD (crucial!), 7 seats, 2.3 injection, 4-spd auto, sunroof, towbar, elecy windows all round, PAS, heated velour seats... is there any reason NOT to miss it!

I know who you mean. He tried to sell his 740 towbar about 6 times and every time someone offers to buy it something incredibly trivial offends him and he refuses to sell. I tried to sell my 740 towbar and he offered to buy it!

No thanks, Ive got better things to do with my life.
